Embracing Magic - E.M Chapter 129 (Part 1)
Elder Kendrick bowed his head and prayed silently, hoping the situation would end here. Somehow, it seemed that Francis might let it pass.
In truth, capturing the children wasn’t solely to prevent Rodin from creating artifacts. It was also driven by greed to covet Rodin’s artifact knowledge.
But if that fact came to light here, it would be the end of him.
If his actions were exposed as not out of excessive loyalty but driven by greed and selfishness, his position within the Mage Tower would become untenable.
“Ah, tsk tsk.”
Clap! Clap!
At that moment, a group approached Tower Master Francis. These were the mages from the Landes Mage Tower who had departed with Francis but were only now arriving.
They had lost track of Francis midway. For mages of their caliber, keeping up with a 7th Circle Archmage flying at full speed had been an impossibility from the start.
Fortunately, Rodin had traveled in a straight line, and Francis had followed the same path. This allowed the Landes Mage Tower mages to follow without losing their way.
“Greetings, Tower Master.”
“Catch your breath first.”
“Yes, Tower Master.”
Francis gave his subordinate mages a brief glance before his gaze returned to Elder Kendrick. He let out a deep sigh.
“Hah, such an unfortunate situation.”
Francis moved slowly toward Elder Kendrick.
Seeing Francis approach, Kendrick secretly sighed in relief. Judging by his expression, Francis didn’t seem to be extremely angry.
‘I’m safe.’
As Kendrick allowed himself to relax, Francis lightly waved his hand.
“Explosion! Stacked!”
Boom!
“Argh!”
Without warning, Francis blew off Elder Kendrick’s arm. It was a sudden, unheralded action.
“W-what is this?!”
“Tower Master!”
“Elder!”
The mages of the Landes Mage Tower, who had just arrived and were clueless about the situation, were wide-eyed with shock.
They couldn’t understand why their Tower Master was suddenly angry or what crime the man who lost his arm had committed.
The mages of the Cedria Mage Tower, who thought this would be resolved peacefully, were just as surprised.
They had assumed that Francis would overlook the incident since there was some connection between their Tower Masters.
“You are unworthy to be called a mage. Were it not for the relationship with your Tower Master, I would have taken your life. But let me make myself clear: if you harbor malice again, not only you but your entire Mage Tower will be wiped off the face of this earth.”
“Grrr… yes.”
“What about you? Do you think this punishment is insufficient?”
Francis turned his sharp gaze toward Rodin, silently asking if he was satisfied with this level of punishment.
“I’ll hold back for now. But there won’t be a second chance.”
“Thank you for understanding my position.”
“I’d prefer if this unpleasant person disappeared from my sight now.”
Rodin conveyed his desire for Elder Kendrick and his subordinate mages to leave.
With that, the matter was settled. Rodin didn’t want to see anything related to the Sedria Mage Tower anymore.
“You heard him. Return to your tower immediately.”
“…Yes. Let’s go.”
“Yes, Elder.”
Elder Kendrick disappeared with his mages in tow. The Landes Mage Tower mages, who didn’t understand the situation, were left bewildered.
“Tower Master, what happened here…?”
“I’ll explain later. What are your plans?”
“I’m thinking of resting here for a day.”
The area was a spacious clearing, suitable for setting up camp.
“It doesn’t look like you’re prepared for camping.”
“We’ve made preparations.”
Rodin intended to retrieve a carriage from his subspace and gather the horses left behind by the Cedria Mage Tower. Larry and Bianca also needed time to recover fully.
“Understood. What about the carcass of the beast you hunted? What do you plan to do with it?”
“Well, we didn’t kill it with a specific purpose in mind.”
“In that case, would you mind if we handled its disposal? We’ll compensate you fairly for its value.”
“Is it a valuable beast?”
Not all beasts were worth money. If they were, Rodin would have collected all the beasts he encountered on his way here.
Most small beasts weren’t profitable, so it was best to cremate or bury them.
“Some beasts are valuable, and some are not. The one you killed is definitely valuable.”
“Does it have any particular use?”
“Haha, who knows? Even if it doesn’t, there will be plenty of buyers.”
The massive beast Rodin had slain was the first of its kind to appear in over a thousand years since the Demon King’s emergence. Its significance made it desirable to mage towers, royalty, and nobles alike.
“Do as you please.”
“We plan to return to the beast’s location and stay there for three or four days. If your siblings recover, could we have a conversation?”
“I’ll visit you if they recover.”
Rodin was curious about the 7th Circle Archmage and wanted to speak with him.
He didn’t intend to ask questions or get answers. He was simply curious about what it felt like to talk to such a being.
“Then I’ll be waiting. Haren, let’s head back.”
“Yes, returning now.”
The group from the Landes Mage Tower disappeared quickly. Only Rodin’s original party remained.
Rodin retrieved a carriage from his spatial bracelet. During this time, Jena went to gather the horses that Matthew, Larry, and Bianca had originally ridden.
“Matthew, take a rest.”
“Pardon?”
“You must be tired. Get some sleep. I’ll handle preparing the meal.”
“You don’t have to…”
Before Matthew could finish his sentence, his head drooped. Rodin had used magic to put him to sleep.
“Karis, go inside and rest.”
“Yes.”
Rodin placed Karis into the storage space of his necklace.
