Embracing Magic - E.M Chapter 158 (Part 2)
— Kkuweeeeng!
“Hmm? Is it midnight?”
— Kkueng!
“Alright. I’m going, I’m going. Jito, just stay in your original form.”
Rodin stopped Jito from transforming into clothing and instead took out a suitable robe to wear. It was a dark brown robe, fitting for the night.
“Invisibility. Fly. Let’s go.”
— Kkueng.
Rodin, now invisible, easily soared over the walls of the Aramia County. Naturally, no one noticed him.
Aramia County was never particularly strict with its inspections, and its nighttime security was equally lax.
“Find where it is.”
— Kkueng!
The moment he left the walls, he sent Jito flying into the sky.
Jito made a large sweep of the surroundings before hovering in place for a while. It seemed he was having trouble locating the target.
Rodin leaned against a nearby tree and patiently waited.
After a while, he received a signal from Jito. Sharing his vision with him, Rodin checked the area Jito was looking at.
“A rocky mountain?”
A massive wyvern was resting on a small mountain south of Aramia County.
The creature had cleverly concealed itself using large boulders. Given the darkness of the night, one could easily pass by without noticing it unless they focused.
“For something that big to hide like that… Let’s check the surroundings.”
Jito turned his head to the side.
The rocky mountain wasn’t far from the Aram River. Along the riverbank, guards were stationed at regular intervals.
“Fighting without being noticed is going to be tough.”
It wasn’t an extremely close distance, but it was still near enough that the sounds of battle would carry.
“Let’s go.”
Rodin flew toward the massive wyvern. The distance was considerable, and it would take about ten minutes to reach it.
However, Jito briefly hovered near the wyvern before suddenly diving down. Without waiting for Rodin, he had already begun the battle.
“Who does he take after to be so impatient?”
Rodin increased his speed. As he flew rapidly, he began hearing loud crashing sounds from the direction of the rocky mountain.
The deafening noise shattered the silence and spread through the surroundings. Even in Aramia County, people heard the commotion.
— Ding! Ding! Ding!
The sound of bells rang, and the once-sleeping county awakened.
The guards reported the noise they had heard, and knights who had been sleeping quickly armed themselves.
Meanwhile, Jito and the massive wyvern continued their battle. By the time Rodin arrived at the scene, the fight was already in full swing.
“Hah… Is this how he fights?”
Jito’s battle style began and ended with speed.
Moving far faster than the massive wyvern, he dodged every attack effortlessly. At the same time, he shot forward like an arrow, aiming solely for the center of the wyvern’s long neck.
“He’s targeting just one spot.”
In contrast, the massive wyvern tried to crush Jito with its sheer strength and size. Its goal was to drive Jito into a corner and land a single, decisive hit.
“It’s fast.”
Jito dodged all of the wyvern’s attacks with ease. The difference in speed was so great that Rodin didn’t even need to worry.
“Hm.”
— Kkueng!
— Kaaaaahk!
Though they both let out cries, Jito’s sounded more adorable than intimidating. It would’ve been better if he hadn’t made any noise at all.
“Well, he’s going to win.”
The massive wyvern already had a fairly deep wound on its neck. Jito’s first ambush had inflicted a significant injury, and after that, he repeatedly attacked the same spot, making the wound even deeper.
The neck was a vital point.
Regardless of size, once a wound exceeded a certain depth, the wyvern was as good as dead.
— Kaaaaahk!
— Kkueeek!
“Jito, let’s not imitate its cries. It’s embarrassing.”
— Keng!
The battle raged on for quite a while. Rocks shattered, and thunderous crashes echoed through the night sky.
“But why are they fighting on the ground when they both have perfectly fine wings?”
It wasn’t as if they weren’t using their wings at all. Both Jito and the wyvern flapped their wings when they charged, using the wind to boost their speed.
However, fighting on the ground was far more restrictive than battling in the open sky. With the large rocks scattered around, they often collided with obstacles.
“This fight is dragging on. Jito! Want some help?”
— Kkueng!
“Alright, fine. Enjoy your one-on-one.”
Rodin gave up and simply sat on a nearby boulder, watching the fight unfold. Since Jito didn’t seem to be in any danger, Rodin was free to enjoy the spectacle.
The eastern horizon gradually brightened. Morning was approaching.
“This should be over soon.”
Jito and the massive wyvern’s battle was finally reaching its conclusion.
A massive amount of blood was pouring from the wyvern’s neck. Jito had ultimately managed to pierce deep enough to deal a fatal wound.
The wyvern tried to tuck its neck in to stop the bleeding, but it was a meaningless effort.
Seizing that moment, Jito switched his attacks to the wyvern’s legs.
His goal wasn’t to break or injure them but to relentlessly strike them until the wyvern collapsed.
“That was a very romantic one-on-one fight, huh?”
— Kkueng!
The wyvern, distracted by its bleeding, lost stability. Jito’s persistent attacks on its legs finally made it lose balance.
— Thud!
As it fell, its neck jerked violently, causing an overwhelming amount of blood to spurt out like a fountain.
“Jito, good work.”
— Kkueng!
The wyvern wasn’t dead yet. It lay on the ground, barely breathing.
But Jito had no more work to do. Now, all that remained was to wait.
Rodin slowly walked toward the fallen wyvern.
Jito approached the wyvern’s head and lifted his leg. But instead of stomping down, he struggled with his short limbs, ending up in an awkward stance.
“…What are you doing?”
— Kkueng.
Jito then flew up and hovered above the wyvern’s head. Spreading his wings wide, he started flapping them vigorously.
The way he fluttered looked more like a chicken that had spotted a worm.
“You really have no sense of style, huh?”
— Kkuueeeeng!
“Alright, move aside. I’ll finish it.”
Waiting for the wyvern to die on its own would take too long. The sun was already rising.
By now, Aramia County’s forces had probably already set out. If they lingered any longer, they risked an unpleasant encounter.
— Kkueng.
“Magic Hand.”
Rather than inflicting a new wound, Rodin chose to widen an existing one.
A magical hand grasped both sides of the wyvern’s neck and pulled. As he poured in more mana, the wound gaped open even further, causing blood to gush out.
Moments later, the wyvern’s breathing ceased. The cause of death: excessive blood loss.
