Traveling north from the fork for ten more days would lead to Raidos, the capital of the Kingdom of Selden. The group escorting Queen Regina planned to continue east from the fork.

Their route would be the same for about three days—so it was a suggestion to travel together for that period.

“Go ahead. But will the Sinclair Merchant Group agree? I heard merchant groups typically don’t join with others during an uphill journey.”

“That’s usually the case. To protect their goods, they tend to avoid strangers. But this is a special situation.”

“Ask their opinion. If they agree, we’ll do the same. But won’t this put too much burden on our mercenaries? Since that side has many injured, it seems we’ll have to do all the work.”

“The mercenaries will understand.”

It was not common for different contracted groups to merge. Even Scott, who had been a mercenary for quite some time, was experiencing this for the first time.

After Rodin left, Scott approached the Sinclair Merchant Group’s wagon—to discuss traveling together.

Although treated, Marlon, who was still feeble, raised his unbroken arm. Beside him lay Baker, who had yet to regain consciousness.

“Over here. Over here.”

Rodin chuckled and sat down in front of Marlon. Ellice and Bron soon came over as well.

“Should I not have treated you? You seem too fine.”

“Too fine? I’m dying over here.”

“You’re exaggerating. Bron’s fine, isn’t he?”

“That guy’s nerves are just dead. His insides are probably rotting away.”

Bron had a calm expression, but his complexion wasn’t good. Since his organs had been torn and reattached, there was no way he was truly fine. Full recovery would take quite some time.

“How’s Baker doing?”

“His expression looks a bit better.”

Just then, Baker groaned and shifted. Ellice instinctively supported his body.

“Leave him be. It’s okay if he moves around a bit.”

Rodin’s Undine moved and dropped water into Baker’s mouth. When a large droplet landed, Baker gulped it down and opened his eyes.

“You’re alive. Congrats.”

“How did I…?”

Ellice pointed at Rodin with her hand. Baker slowly turned his head and, seeing Rodin, gave a faint smile.

“Rodin saved me.”

“It was just luck. How’s your body?”

“It hurts. But it’s bearable.”

Baker forced a smile. He was trying to ease the worry of his younger sister, who was looking at him with concern.

“Baker will be in pain for another couple of days. Bron should be able to get up by tomorrow. As for Marlon, he’s already fine, so no need to worry.”

“Fine? I’m in agony!”

“You’re exaggerating. Anyway, there won’t be any aftereffects. So don’t worry.”

While Rodin chatted with Bron’s party, Scott and Lukas, the deputy leader of the Sinclair Merchant Group, came to an agreement.

For Lukas, it was an unavoidable situation.

It would take three or four more days before the mercenaries could perform their duties again. Until then, ensuring the safety of the uphill route would require help from others.
