Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures - H.P.S.T Chapter 1325: The Great Conspiracy
Evan had returned specifically to accomplish this task: to return the true Diadem to Rowena Ravenclaw.
He even suspected that Ravenclaw might have anticipated that Helena would steal her tiara and planned to return it to her hands in this way. If she was really as smart as the rumors said, it would not be impossible for her to plan these things.
In any case, the fact that Evan would return the Diadem to Ravenclaw had been incorporated into the rules of time.
No matter what happened afterwards, the subsequent time and events within the rules would not be changed, but there would still be direct changes. The conspiracy planned by the pure-blood Wizarding families would not succeed. They would be unable to use this incident to disgrace Ravenclaw, and their own reputations might even suffer as a result…
There were intermittent voices outside the door, and the boy from the Peverell family seemed to have accepted this shocking news.
“Are you sure that Lady Ravenclaw’s tiara is not real?” he asked. “I just saw her wearing it in the Great Hall. This is no trivial matter, Malfoy. If we publicly accuse her and it turns out that the Diadem on her head is genuine — that it wasn’t stolen by her daughter as you claim — you know what the consequences will be!”
“Obviously, but the news we have received is certainly true, and I can guarantee this with an Unbreakable Vow.”
Outside the door, there was another moment of silence.
Even through the thick curtains and door, Evan could still feel Clive thinking.
“If I believe you, what do you plan to do?”
“Initially, we planned to wait for the Baron to come back and get the real Diadem from him, but because of the emergence of that damn proposal, it’s clear we can’t afford to wait any longer. We can’t let Hogwarts’ influence continue to expand. We must act immediately,” said Malfoy. “I believe Lady Ravenclaw’s speech today presents an excellent opportunity. Many important figures are present…”
“You’re planning to expose this here?! You’re crazy, no one will believe us!”
“Lady Ravenclaw’s Diadem is a magical artifact from the era of the gods. Clive, doesn’t your family have a few magical heirlooms from that era as well?” Malfoy asked calmly. “With your position, you should have access to them, right?”
“Of course, the Peverells are the oldest, and of course we have magical items from that period, but…”
“Then you should know that there are special spells that can authenticate magical items from that period.”
“You …”
“Yes, we have invited an important person from the Holy See. He’ll use magic to prove that Lady Ravenclaw’s tiara is a fake. Then, we will publicize the scandal that Helena stole her tiara. Lady Ravenclaw will be finished. She won’t be able to explain herself,” said Malfoy. “I came out with you to find Annie just to confirm the whereabouts of the bishop. He has already arrived in Hogsmeade!”
“Since you’ve already planned everything, what do you need me for? To be able to invite a Cardinal skilled in Divination from the Vatican to do this for you, the Malfoy family must have paid a heavy price, right?”
“Anything that can be solved with gold is not worth mentioning to the Malfoy family. As for why I’m sharing this plan with you, I’ve just said that pure-blood Wizarding families have always stood together,” said Malfoy, returning to that slick tone. “We’ve already spoken with most of today’s important guests. Now, we’re just one step away — all that’s needed is for someone to stand up and question Lady Ravenclaw’s Diadem. Then, we can naturally invite the Cardinal waiting in Hogsmeade to step in. Originally, I was supposed to do it. But you know me, Clive — I dislike being in the spotlight. And you, on the other hand, need this opportunity!”
“What do you mean? I don’t understand…”
“It’s quite simple. Lady Ravenclaw’s Diadem is a fake, and the person who reveals this fact will gain unimaginable renown. Think about it. After today, all wizards will know that you, Clive Peverell, defeated Rowena Ravenclaw — the smartest witch in the world — and handed her her first-ever taste of failure. You’ll go down in history, Clive, remembered as the wizard who bested Lady Ravenclaw. Everyone will know your name, and from then on, anything you pursue will be easier — such as proposing to someone from the Black family…”
“But, but…”
“No buts, Clive. Anyone could seize this opportunity. For example, Goyle here — he and his family would jump at the chance,” said Malfoy, shaking his head. “He’s begged me for it multiple times, but I’ve refused because of my friendship with you. I’m giving this chance to you.”
“I mean, how can I face the wrath of Lady Ravenclaw if I point this out?”
“Don’t worry about that. Pure-blood Wizarding families advance and retreat together. Everyone will see that we did it together. It is impossible for them to vent their anger on you alone,” said Malfoy. “Besides, if it is proved that the Diadem is fake, do you think the Ravenclaw family, whose reputation has been damaged, will still have time to pay attention to you? Do you think our families will really give them this opportunity? To be honest, if Lady Ravenclaw really uses magic to attack you, her own student, out of anger, then she will be completely finished. I wish she would do that!”
“But there are the other three professors…”
“Hogwarts is not a monolith. I heard that Professor Slytherin and the other three Founders had a big disagreement on the issue of admitting Mudbloods. He has the same idea as us. Our next plan is to unite with him. Perhaps Professor Slytherin wants to run Hogwarts alone, and we can help him. There is no need to worry about Professor Hufflepuff. As long as we can get the Wizards’ Council to make concessions on the issue of raising house-elves, she will compromise. Professor Gryffindor is indeed a trouble, but it’s not like you need to duel him. What’s there to be afraid of?!”
“But……”
“There is no time to hesitate, Clive, this is our only chance,” said Malfoy. “Let’s go back to the Great Hall. I’ve had someone check and Annie is not around. She may have gone back. You can think about this carefully for a few minutes. If not, I’ll let Goyle do it!”
“That Diadem, Malfoy, if this thing succeeds, the Peverells must have it.”
“Greedy thoughts. If you really intend to break up with the Ravenclaw family, then take it. I will have someone tell you the whereabouts of the Baron.”
There was a sound of receding footsteps outside the door, and Evan walked out from behind the thick curtains.
He had just overheard a remarkable conspiracy. Before they could act, he needed to return the Diadem to Lady Ravenclaw. …
