The concept of this house-elf demon was completely non-mainstream among the house-elves today.

Even Dobby, who was forward-thinking and always pursuing freedom, was not as bold as him.

Hermione, on the other hand, kept nodding her head. Some of his views aligned with her own beliefs.

She did not support waging war, but the house-elves had to stand up for their own rights. They were not slaves.

“House-elves are supposed to serve their masters,” Ron couldn’t help but say.

He had been standing behind Dumbledore with Harry, Hermione, and Elaine, nervously observing the house-elf demon. The unfamiliar magic and power had initially filled him with awe, but this demon was far from intimidating, and the topic he was talking about was too familiar, so familiar that Ron forgot to be afraid.

The history he’d just spoken of, and the things he was now ranting about, were topics he and Hermione had been arguing about for a long time, about the protection of the rights of house-elves and their relationship with wizards. They were still discussing this on the way here just now.

“House-elves like to serve wizards, they do it willingly, they…” said Ron.

“Shut up!” The house-elf inside the ring of fire suddenly jumped up and shouted angrily, “You despicable wizard, elves are not slaves. We don’t need to serve wizards selflessly, and we don’t have any masters.”

“That’s right!” Hermione agreed. “House-elves are not slaves.”

The demon glanced at Hermione, then quickly shifted his gaze back to Ron.

“Remember this, wizard, we are not slaves. Besides that disgraceful traitor, Dodo, many house-elves are willing to fight. We will resist to the end. We will win the war and reclaim our homeland.”

“But you’ve already lost. The war you’re talking about happened more than a thousand years ago,” Ron muttered softly.

His voice was so low that only Evan and Harry, who were standing in front of him, could hear it.

Neither Evan nor Harry intended to get involved in this topic. There was no point in discussing it with a house-elf demon in a place like this. There seemed to be no end to it, and if Hermione got further involved…

They weren’t here to debate, and it was getting colder in here.

“I see. Thank you for the information,” said Evan, bringing the topic back to the main track. “If we want to know something about Hufflepuff, we need to find the house-elf named Dodo. So where is he? How can we find him?”

“He’s already dead, idiot!”

Yes, Dodo was not a demon or a ghost, it was impossible for him to still be alive now.

So the clues were cut off?

That couldn’t be. It was impossible for Hufflepuff to not know about Dodo’s life span and leave nothing behind.

“For the sake of this young lady, I suppose I can share some information with you,” the demon continued, gesturing toward Hermione. “That traitor once told me that if any Hogwarts wizards came looking for him, I should tell them that he took Hufflepuff’s treasure and returned to the homeland of the house-elves. I hadn’t planned on saying anything about it — he left me here just to deliver this message. Damn it, I’ve had enough. Let me go back already. I hate this castle…”

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………

“Do you think that what the demon said can be trusted?”

“No problem. Don’t forget, Dumbledore was there too. There’s no way that guy would lie to us.”

“And where is the homeland of the house-elves he spoke of?”

“No idea,” Harry shook his head and turned to look at Evan, who was lying on the bed beside him. “Evan, any clues?”

“A few possibilities, but nothing certain yet,” Evan replied. He was lying on his stomach, poring over a massive magic book, his face almost pressed against the pages. The handwriting was tiny and densely packed, making it difficult to read. “That demon mentioned the war between wizards and house-elves. In that history, he spoke of a homeland. I think he must be referring to the house-elves’ former territory.”

So all he had to do was find the place that had once been the territory of the house-elves a thousand years ago.

That was no easy task. It was ancient history, and the records were far from detailed.

Trying to find such a place from these scattered and unstructured texts was like looking for a needle in a haystack. The key was that the demon himself couldn’t tell where this place was exactly. He didn’t know the place names of Muggles or wizards, and couldn’t provide effective evidence. He couldn’t even tell the specific direction of the homeland of the house-elves.

By now, several hours had passed since their meeting with the demon, and the sun was nearing the horizon.

They had all arrived at the Burrow. Evan and Hermione had originally agreed with their families to stay in Hogwarts for Christmas, but with their business concluded so quickly, there was no point in staying in school any longer. This Christmas holiday, Hogwarts was particularly deserted, with only a few of them there.

So in the end, at Mrs. Weasley’s insistence, they all went to the Burrow to spend Christmas.

That morning, after the demon had spoken his final message, Dumbledore sent him back.

The corpse had once again become just a corpse. Everything had returned to its original state, as if none of it had ever happened.

Dumbledore then sent the five of them to the Burrow.

It was obvious that Hermione felt a little regretful. She had wanted to talk more with the demon about house-elf rights and learn more about the war, but the house-elf demon didn’t want to stay in the real world, not even for a second.

Dumbledore had also told them on the way that they couldn’t let the demon stay. Although he had no power, his thoughts were very radical, and he wanted to incite the house-elves to wage war against wizards. He was also very unstable and difficult to control.

Since they had obtained the information they needed, it was time to send the demon back.

The problem now was not the demon, but finding the homeland of the house-elves and the treasure key taken away by Dodo.

Dumbledore said he would keep an eye out, and Evan also planned to look for it. Before leaving Hogwarts, he specifically asked Dobby to go to Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place to find Kreacher, instructing them to retrieve any historical records from that era stored in the Black family’s library.

The magic book Evan was currently reading came from the Black family’s collection.

Hermione, Elaine, and Ginny were downstairs helping Mrs. Weasley prepare dinner. Evan and the other two had been kicked out because the girls disliked their clumsy movements with a knife to peel Brussels sprouts. Ron had even cut his finger…

There was heavy snow outside, and the three of them had nowhere to go before dinner, so they went back to Ron’s room.

Evan began flipping through the books, searching for any mention of the house-elves’ homeland. Harry and Ron had initially intended to help, but they gave up after just a few minutes. The ancient texts were filled with archaic words and outdated grammar, making them incredibly difficult to read. On top of that, the books were old, and the pages were yellowed, damaged, and faded, with entire sections nearly illegible.
