Evan couldn’t be certain whether the creature in the picture was Herpo the Foul or some other monster, but judging from the context, there was no doubt that thousands of years ago, a group of Dark wizards in the regions surrounding the Mediterranean in southern Europe had once fanatically worshiped some kind of evil god.

At that time, it was the most prosperous and advanced region of magical civilization, and those powerful wizards built temples and structures in honor of the evil gods.

It was still unknown what Voldemort, the Death Eaters and the Raven’s Claw were looking for in the relics of that era, but it was certainly related to those evil gods.

Just based on this point, it was not good news.

In order to gain stronger power, Voldemort was clearly moving toward a path that involved the evil gods.

Evan didn’t want things to get this complicated. It would be great if he could destroy the remaining three Horcruxes and defeat Voldemort as soon as possible!

The Golden Cup, Harry Potter, and the statue of the evil god — each one seemed harder than the last.

Once Dumbledore’s funeral was over, he would go deal with the cup first and hopefully find the key to Helga Hufflepuff’s treasure along the way.

In the following two days, all lessons at Hogwarts were suspended, and all examinations were postponed.

Many students were hurried away from Hogwarts by their parents — the Patil twins were gone before breakfast on the morning following Dumbledore’s death, and Zacharias Smith was escorted from the castle by his haughty-looking father. Seamus Finnigan, on the other hand, refused point-blank to accompany his mother home; they had a shouting match in the entrance hall that was resolved when she agreed that he could remain behind for the funeral.

Seamus later told them that his mother had difficulty in finding a bed in Hogsmeade for wizards and witches were pouring into the village, preparing to pay their last respects to Dumbledore.

Many people left, but more people came in. The news of Dumbledore’s death sent shockwaves throughout the entire Wizarding world.

The impact was like throwing a giant bomb into a calm lake.

Whether one agreed with Dumbledore’s ideals or not, there was no denying that he had been the greatest wizard of the contemporary era.

Even though the British Wizarding world was going through an especially difficult period, many witches and wizards still came spontaneously to Hogwarts for the funeral, including many from abroad.

Not just from Europe, but also from the Americas, the Middle East, Africa, and East Asia.

If it weren’t for the fear of Voldemort and the rush of time, there would definitely be more wizards coming.

Those with high status or who had been Dumbledore’s friends were being accommodated within Hogwarts Castle, while the rest gathered in Hogsmeade, turning the once quiet school into the liveliest gathering spot for wizards in all of Britain almost overnight.

Some excitement was caused among the younger students, who had never seen it before, when a powder-blue carriage the size of a house, pulled by a dozen giant winged palominos, came soaring out of the sky in the late afternoon before the funeral and landed on the edge of the forest.

A gigantic and handsome olive-skinned, black-haired woman descended the carriage steps and threw herself into the waiting Hagrid’s arms.

At the same time, a girl in a light blue Beauxbatons school uniform flung herself into Evan’s arms.

It was Gabrielle Delacour!

Gabrielle had come with Madame Maxime. She would stay in Britain this summer to attend her sister Fleur’s wedding to Bill.

In the recent battle, Bill had been badly injured by Fenrir Greyback. Fortunately, he hadn’t been bitten by the werewolf.

Fleur had been taking care of him these days, which was very hard, but it was also very touching.

To avoid any regrets, the two of them had firmly decided to move forward with the wedding as soon as possible. Their determination was so strong that even Mrs. Weasley, who had always been opposed to the marriage, had nothing more to say. It was clear that, with the war underway, she too was afraid of losing her son at any moment.

Meanwhile, all the vampires from the Slytherin clan had arrived at Hogwarts — over a hundred of them.

They were all dressed in black robes and looked cold and emotionless.

So many vampires gathered in one place naturally sparked widespread curiosity.

Professor McGonagall had designated a special area within the castle for them to stay and warned the students not to go near it.

It was clear she didn’t trust vampires much.

Shortly after the vampires and Madame Maxime arrived, a delegation of Ministry officials, including the Minister for Magic himself, was also accommodated within the castle.

There were many big figures among them, including senior officials from the Ministry, the Wizengamot and the International Confederation of Wizards, as well as representatives from foreign Ministries of Magic.

It was said that even goblins from Gringotts would send someone to attend Dumbledore’s funeral, but up until the end, Evan never saw any of them.

It was Dobby and the other house-elves in the kitchens who had been crying nonstop for days, mourning Dumbledore’s departure.

Not wanting to be questioned, Evan, Harry, and the others were diligently avoiding contact with any of them.

For now, things still appeared to be under the Ministry’s control on the surface.

The trials of the Death Eaters who had broken into Hogwarts that night were in full swing, occupying most of the space in all newspapers.

The rest of the pages were almost entirely filled with news about Snape.

The Ministry’s Aurors were searching everywhere for him, but of course, they weren’t making any progress — just as they hadn’t even glimpsed Voldemort’s shadow in the past year.

Everyone with any sense knew that the current calm was only on the surface. Behind the scenes, things were already starting to spiral out of control.

Since Dumbledore’s death, it wasn’t just mourners who had come pouring into the country; many Dark and evil forces had arrived as well.

While Dumbledore was alive, they feared his power and dared not come to Britain. But now that this country was about to become a paradise of Darkness, it would naturally attract these people. They came here to seek refuge with Voldemort, to join his army, or to pursue other sinister goals.

It was in such an atmosphere that Dumbledore’s funeral arrived as scheduled.

On that day, every student who had not left Hogwarts got up early to pack their luggage.

When Evan came downstairs, he found the mood in the Great Hall subdued.

Everyone was wearing their dress robes, and no one seemed very hungry.

Professor McGonagall had left the thronelike chair in the middle of the staff table empty.

Hagrid’s chair was deserted too; perhaps he had not been able to face breakfast, but Snape’s place had been unceremoniously filled by Rufus Scrimgeour.

His yellowish eyes scanned the Hall. When Evan met his gaze, he quickly looked away.

The remaining wizards and entourage invited to the funeral were arranged at the ends of the four House tables. At the end of the Gryffindor table, Evan spotted the red hair and horn-rimmed glasses of Percy Weasley. He kept a very low profile and showed no intention of greeting his family sitting not far from him. …
