Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures - H.P.S.T Chapter 1671: A One-Sided Battle
What exactly happened in this place?
Because of the distance, Evan hadn’t caught all of the ghosts’ chatter, but he had still overheard enough to piece together the outline: it seemed that some wicked Dark magic had killed everyone in the town, and the ones who cast that terrible curse were none other than the Ravenclaw family, the lords of this land.
Some had even witnessed the curse spreading; Dark magic drifting out of the Ravenclaw castle like a plague!
And it all happened after Lady Rowena Ravenclaw’s death!
A wizard of the Ravenclaw line had unleashed the spell that caused the destruction of this place.
Whoever that person was, why did he do such a thing?
What kind of Dark magic possessed such terrifying power? Was it related to the Veil of Death?
And what about all the strange changes that had begun the moment Evan arrived?
Undoubtedly, it was the power of the diadem he wore that was awakening the ancient town, reshaping the space around him, and granting the ghosts “wisdom,” restoring their awareness from the Dark forces that had bound them and from the darkness of ignorance, thus enabling them to communicate as they had just done.
But why was that happening?
Had Lady Ravenclaw left some kind of magic within the diadem?
A sudden commotion snapped Evan out of his thoughts. He straightened up and looked out of the carriage.
Outside, a fierce battle had broken out; knights were charging, wizards were casting spells, and red, blue, and green incantations were flashing by.
Many figures were trying to attack the carriage Evan was riding in, clashing with the knights, warriors, wizards, and rangers guarding it. However, there were few ghosts among the attackers. Instead, a group of cloaked wizards — faces hidden — had taken their place.
Clearly different from the translucent blue ghosts, those wizards were wreathed in swirling black mist, steeped in sinister magic.
These were Dark wizards of Raven’s Claw.
So it seemed Evan hadn’t stepped into a sealed illusion.
Or rather, he hadn’t completely entered an illusionary space that only he could enter.
Some special power from Ravenclaw’s Diadem had awakened the ghosts and spirits wandering this land, altering it to restore its former glory. However, this was still the real world. The past scenes that Evan could see now could also be seen or sensed by the Dark Witch and the Raven’s Claw wizards.
Through some method, they could also enter this illusion, and they were attacking the procession in an attempt to stop Evan.
The Dark Witch’s henchmen were all powerful Dark wizards or death-defying fanatics, but compared to the ancient Ravenclaw family’s guard, they were completely outmatched. In terms of both magical power and equipment, this army from a thousand years ago completely overwhelmed the Raven’s Claw wizards.
Their strongest spell — Avada Kedavra — was utterly useless against ghosts.
How could a killing curse possibly kill someone who had already died once? Realizing this, the Dark wizards had to switch to other spells, but their feeble magic was a joke against the knight’s enchanted armor, unable to inflict any effective damage. The scene quickly turned into a one-sided massacre.
The battle ended swiftly and predictably, its end barely beginning.
Besides vividly demonstrating what it meant to overestimate one’s own strength and fight a losing battle, the Raven’s Claw Dark wizards gained nothing. They had misjudged the strength of the guard surrounding Evan’s carriage; only a few managed to escape and disappear at the end of the street, while the rest were completely wiped out.
The Dark wizards suffered heavy losses; those killed left no corpses, vanishing like ghosts.
Soon, silence returned. The warriors sheathed their weapons, as though nothing had happened.
The street became much quieter; the ghosts who had been watching the spectacle were all gone.
The leading knight gestured to Evan, as if he had merely dealt with a few annoying flies.
Evan nodded back in acknowledgment, drew the curtain, leaned back against the cushions, and the carriage slowly began to move again.
Gradually, a haunting melody drifted from afar.
The music came from within the Ravenclaw family’s castle, soft, mournful chanting, as though whispering stories from long ago:
Beware, beware, lone wanderer—
You tread the road to Hell’s abyss.
Whatever answers you seek,
None shall be granted in this place.
For darkness swallows all this land;
Evil hangs thick upon the air.
Every living thing is lost,
Run aground in endless night.
Their prayers rise hollow to the void,
And hope decays to bitter ash.
The glory Ravenclaw once bore
Has scattered like dust upon the wind;
Only shattered stones remain
To whisper of the brilliance gone.
Beware, beware, lone wanderer—
You cross the threshold of the dead.
No mortal step should fall here,
For here you shall behold true evil.
A thousand restless spirits murmur,
Calling day and calling night.
You think you hear your loved ones speak—
But it is Death that beckons you.
The Ravenclaw line, in fatal error,
Unwittingly summoned Death itself,
And by their hand the shadow came,
Claiming all it touched.
Now darkness is the only hue
That stains these ruined halls;
Madness and despair alone
Drift through the crumbling stones.
Beware, beware, lone wanderer—
A trial beyond all thought draws near.
Heed the dead and pay their price,
Or here you shall remain forever.
The spirits of the dark will bind you,
Drag you to the deepest pit of hell.
Ravenclaw’s fallen House awaits
A heir to mend its broken pride.
Your coming is the battle hardest won—
For none but wit may serve you now,
Against a foe no strength can master.
Prove yourself, true heir of Rowena.
Restore to this forsaken land
The light it lost to endless night.
When shadow cracks and evil fades,
When silence blesses stone again,
Then shall the House of Ravenclaw rise,
And lost glory shall return.
“Welcome back, master of the Ravenclaw family!”

In a moment of dazed confusion, Harry thought he heard a strange dirge rising from somewhere he couldn’t place.
Though he couldn’t make out the lyrics, the melody was incredibly sorrowful, inexplicably bringing tears to his eyes.
Harry was deeply depressed; he couldn’t explain why. Perhaps it was because of the sudden memory of that music, or perhaps it was because Voldemort had just killed yet another innocent person. He didn’t know who the old man imprisoned in the tower had been, but he was certain the man was dead now.
That old man seemed to have known Dumbledore. Voldemort had wanted information from him, but the man had refused.
And so he lost his life
