- H.P.S.T Chapter 1673: Weakening and Magic
The blue light weakened the Dark Witch’s magic, and the spell binding Harry was broken.
He regained control of his body, and without much thought, Harry lunged at the Dark Witch.
He was without a wand, but that didn’t matter; his past experience fighting at Hogwarts taught him that sometimes fists were more effective than wands.
Harry pounced, using all his strength to try and knock the Dark Witch down. He knew he only had one chance; if she reacted and cast her spell, he couldn’t possibly be a match for her. While she was distracted by the blue light, he had to control her wand first.
Only then could he possibly defeat her.
With a shrill cry, Harry pounced on the Dark Witch, using both hands and feet.
The two struggled, Harry tightly gripping the Dark Witch’s right hand, grabbing that monstrous, rough hand, and wrestling with her for the wand.
Several sparks flew from the tip of the Dark Witch’s wand and fell into the darkness; the spell she was casting was interrupted.
The Dark Witch stiffened, seemingly taken aback by Harry’s actions, but she wasn’t tackled.
Harry felt as though he had collided with a solid stone pillar, the sensation extremely unpleasant.
Besides, he smelled a thick, revolting stench, metallic and rotten, like a pile of crushed cockroaches. He had been forced to deal with a whole jar of cockroaches for Potions detention in Snape’s office; Harry had never forgotten that smell.
“Curse you, Harry Potter — incurably foolish brat!” the Dark Witch shrieked. “You’ve interrupted my magic.”
“That’s enough, witch!” Harry gasped, trying to snatch the Dark Witch’s wand. He didn’t succeed immediately; he only managed to deflect her hand. This was somewhat unexpected; her strength was far greater than he had imagined, not at all human.
Like Voldemort and Wormtail, the Dark Witch was no longer human, but a monster.
“Very well, you’ve successfully angered me, Harry Potter. I’m going to kill you! I’ll rip your heart out and eat it; it’ll taste delicious!” the Dark Witch screamed, and several more sparks flew from her wand. Immediately, a chain emerged from the tip and coiled around Harry like a snake.
Before Harry could react, the chain was firmly bound to him.
The chain tightened more and more, the immense force almost suffocating Harry.
Harry’s breathing became increasingly difficult. His right hand still gripped the Dark Witch’s wand, but his strength was waning. His left hand futilely tore at the deadly magical chains. Breathing became increasingly difficult, and his vision seemed to grow darker. His grip faltered. His right hand slipped away from the wand. A heavy despair sank in his stomach.
He knew he had failed.
Just then, the Dark Witch let out another piercing scream, and she released Harry.
Harry could breathe again, gasping for air. He saw the blue lights converging on the Dark Witch’s body, countless blue specks clinging to her like blue flames. She seemed greatly harmed.
She let out a series of painful screams, staggering backward as her magic weakened once more.
“Damn magic, damned power!” the Dark Witch cursed, brandishing her wand.
Taking advantage of her weakened state, Harry pounced on her again.
This time, he easily knocked her wand away. The two fell to the ground, writhing. Harry could feel that the Dark Witch’s power was much weaker than before; the blue lights clinging to her like flames had inflicted immense damage, weakening her strength and magic.
The two tumbled, rolled across the stone, and then, finding no ground beneath them, plummeted from the platform.
They were falling from thousands of feet in the air. The wind tore upward, blowing back the Black Witch’s hood.
Harry gasped; he saw a horrifying face.
The Dark Witch’s face was split in two: one part was the face of a beautiful young girl, the other a nightmare straight from a demon’s dream, twisted and bluish-gray. It was hard to describe — almost like part of a Blast-Ended Skrewt, with numerous tentacle-like appendages writhing and waving in all directions.
Because the Dark Witch’s magic was unstable, the two faces kept shifting.
One moment she was fully human; the next, she was entirely a monster.
“Harry Potter, you fool!” the Dark Witch shrieked. “You’ve killed yourself!”
“Shut up, monster!” Harry yelled back, finally realizing the gravity of the situation.
Harry didn’t know how high the platform they were falling from, but judging from how long they had been falling, it must have been at least several thousand feet; higher than the Astronomy Tower at Hogwarts. A fall from that height would surely kill them both.
For a fleeting moment, when the Dark Witch mentioned it, Harry realized he might simply fall to his death — but the thought flickered away almost instantly.
Strangely, he felt completely calm. Not afraid at all.
Below him, the massive shadow of the castle was coming into focus, its true form gradually revealed. The blue magical light had reshaped it entirely—what emerged was a magnificent, breathtaking castle. Perhaps not as grand as Hogwarts, but far more intricate, far more exquisite.
‘The castle’s owner…’
Harry had no time for idle thoughts. The Dark Witch beneath him pulled something from her robes, and a powerful pull emanated from it, as if a hook had caught behind Harry’s navel and yanked with irresistible strength. The world spun even faster.
It was a Portkey. Where was she taking him?
Harry instinctively tried to wrench himself free from the Dark Witch, but some magnetic force seemed to glue him to her. He couldn’t break away.
Harry and the Dark Witch spun around, and soon the surrounding scenery changed.
They landed on the ground, slamming onto polished black marble.
Before Harry could even react, he was yanked off the Dark Witch.
He looked up and saw cloaked figures all around; they were Dark wizards, all of them the Dark Witch’s henchmen.
“My lady!”
“Tie this reckless fool up. Leave enough people here to perform the final magic — the rest of you, go and stop that boy outside. His magic is already sufficient; the dead who slept here have awakened. Nothing can stop us now. We can begin casting the spell.”
The Dark Witch stood up as she issued her orders.
“Hurry — stop that boy. That damned ancient magic suppresses my power far too strongly. It was crafted to counter the Master.”
