Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 111 (Part 1): Hunting Picnic
A week after the midterm exams, smiles and tears were seen in front of the bulletin board where the exam rankings were announced.
Someone was holding their head in despair, lamenting, “Oh no, can someone please tell me this is all just a dream!”
Students from the second year of the magic department looked oddly at the person who had slumped to the ground like the protagonist of a tragedy.
“What’s wrong? Are you upset about your rank?”
“You shouldn’t be. Your grades are the same as last year.”
“Second place again, are you joking?”
“Yes, second place again. Sian, you’re really something. Always securing the second spot as if it’s predetermined.”
“I thought you’d drop in ranks because you played around this time, but you managed to keep your second place. Is it because the gap with the third rank is not that big?”
“Still, being the second rank is something. The first place is always taken by, well, that person over there.”
Someone pointed where Alea stood, checking her scores on the bulletin board.
For her, the results were probably expected. The letters printed clearly on the white paper were dazzling.
1st place Alea, 100 points. 2nd place Sian, 93.2 points. 3rd place Ellis, 92.8 points.
The scores were converted to a 100-point scale. Posting ranks and scores was a policy of Greta Academy to stimulate competition.
The academy was filled with nobles who valued honor. Publicly posting grades like this made everyone grit their teeth and study harder.
The rankings were separated by departments. Different criteria were used for scoring.
“Today, too, you shine brightly, as expected of Alea.”
“Is this the halo of the first rank?”
The female students murmured among themselves. After checking her scores, Alea looked at Sian, who was sulking, and raised the corners of her mouth.
Alea was not checking her own score. Despite the cold smile, cheers erupted around her.
Everyone thought Alea was smiling happily. However, realizing he was being mocked, Sian asked with a gloomy face, “Does anyone here actually think Alea is annoying?”
The surrounding students flinched.
“You’re the only one who thinks that way.”
“Watch your mouth. You might end up buried in the academy’s sports field.”
“Alive.”
Sian closed his mouth. It was unfair and frustrating, but that’s how power worked.
Alea, the greatest genius in the history of the magic department, had a stunning beauty that could turn heads.
If Alea had any flaw, it was that he came from a commoner background.
But no one knew about Alea’s past, so many assumed she was of noble birth.
She shopped without hesitation in the upscale stores of Baden, and her demeanor and speech were refined and elegant.
Even if she wasn’t a noble, being a mage was enough.
A magician as exceptional as Alea would be welcomed by any country. A noble title would naturally follow.
Female students adored her, and male students were wary of her. However, Alea treated them all as beneath her.
Sian was the only one who felt this was unjust.
‘That’s a complete personality disorder.’
Arrogant and merciless. But Sian knew this judgment only came after interacting with Alea. Last year’s Alea would never have allowed anyone close.
“Ah, the sports field, the sports field.”
Sian muttered the word as if it were a curse.
‘Alea wouldn’t care, would he?’
She definitely will. Sian, with a gloomy expression, vowed to hit Asuka in the back of the head as soon as he appeared.
Following the magic department students, the swordsmanship department students arrived next.
The bulletin board was divided by grade, making it easy to view.
“Helmut. Look at the bulletin board.”
Someone had already checked and was making a fuss. It was hard to see the contents with the bulky swordsmanship students crowding around.
After they dispersed, Helmut was able to check his rank.
