Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 115 (Part 1):
‘Such a nuisance.’
Helmut raised an eyebrow. It was exactly the type Alea had warned him about. Someone feigning interest to approach Alea. Their overly eager demeanor made it all the more suspicious.
Helmut didn’t consider himself to be the type to attract the attention of girls his age. The experiences he had in Baden were far from trivial.
Teresa still wore a smile.
“There’s no need to turn away so coldly. Don’t you want some? Cotton candy.”
Glancing at it, the price was quite high. He had been curious about the taste and was thinking of buying some.
“I do want some, but I’ll buy it with my own money.”
“How cold. That’s part of your charm!”
She made a fuss over it.
‘What is this senior talking about?’
Helmut showed a guarded expression. Teresa laughed as if she found it cute.
“Is it strange that I’m interested in you?”
“It doesn’t seem like the senior is interested in me.”
“Oh, you must have been troubled by Alea all this time. But I’m not like that……”
“Helmut, what are you doing there?”
Suddenly, a familiar voice was heard. Helmut turned around immediately. Alea stood there with a cold face, holding a thick book under her arm.
It was a look of reproach. As if to say, ‘Where did you sell my advice?’
“Here, this senior says she’s from the magic department. Do you know her?”
Referring to her as a senior might not make a difference to Alea, but Helmut decided to pass her off to Alea for now. Alea’s gaze pierced Teresa.
“Magic Department’s 3rd-year top student, Senior Teresa, what brings you here?”
The other party was an excellent student worth remembering for Alea. Moreover, she was beautiful. Alea’s eyes sharpened.
“Oh, Alea.”
After Alea appeared, Teresa’s gaze automatically locked onto her. That was her problem.
If she was interested in Helmut, she should have shown indifference towards Alea, but she couldn’t.
Alea’s magical power was strong. Being a powerful mage made her influence all the more potent.
If Alea had been unimpressive, she might have doubted why she was so drawn to her, but her flawless beauty made it naturally convincing.
“Do you have business with me?”
“No, it’s just……”
For a moment, Teresa was engulfed in confusion. Did she have business with Alea?
Seeing the handsome male student, Helmut, Teresa had eagerly started a conversation. Her target was Helmut.
But upon facing Alea, she forgot what she had been doing up to that point.
“It’s probably for a pointless reason. I would appreciate it if you didn’t bother my roommate again.”
Alea spoke coldly and reached out her hand. Grabbing Helmut’s arm, she promptly left the spot.
A short while later, Alea released Helmut in an alleyway. The atmosphere was somehow tense.
“What are you doing here?”
“Why didn’t you shake her off right away?”
They asked simultaneously, but Alea looked at him demandingly, with a reproachful gaze.
‘What did I do wrong?’
Though confused, Helmut roughly answered.
“She said she was a senior and that she was interested in me……”
He said so, but it seemed like she had approached him with the intention of getting close to Alea. Alea crossed her arms as if interrogating him.
“So did you like her?”
“That’s not it, but when a senior from the academy speaks to you, you can’t just ignore them, right?”
Especially a senior who took the same class. He had intended to dismiss her lightly, but thought it polite to exchange a few words.
“If you hadn’t dealt with it, I wouldn’t have had any trouble.”
“Just ignore her.”
“How could I……!”
Alea, who was about to explode in anger, quickly calmed her emotions. She was upset, but couldn’t find a suitable reason to argue.
Alea sighed and asked.
“Where are Sian and Asuka?”
“At the shop. Aren’t you here to buy something too?”
“It’s better if we move together.”
“……Alright.”
‘Whatever the whim, it doesn’t matter.’
Returning to the shopping district, they found Sian and Asuka just coming out of shopping. Both of their faces were full of joy, hands laden with luggage.
Asuka blinked.
“Oh, Alea? You’re here too.”
“All this for just five days of camping, what are all these things for? Planning to start a business?”
When Alea asked incredulously, Sian exclaimed.
“Ah, that’s not a bad idea! Take a lot with us, and if there’s anything left, we can sell it to someone who needs it for money.”
“Things like insect-repellent incense might find buyers. I doubt the martial arts department students would prepare so thoroughly.”
“Should we buy more?”
“Stop it. If we carry more, the horse won’t be able to move.”
Helmut intervened. Asuka had already bought enough goods to overload not just his own horse but Helmut’s as well. He declined taking on more.
They hurried back to the dormitory as Alea joining them started to attract attention.
‘The preparations almost over.’
Even with their hands full, Sian and Asuka were noisy.
On the way back to the dormitory, Helmut suddenly looked back. A sharp sensation ran down his spine.
‘Is it a delusion?’
