Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 156 (Part 1):
‘Did I provoke him unnecessarily?’
It seemed to be the annoyance from the hot weather. In truth, the working conditions of the Palma Knights were tempting. It wasn’t impossible to join them.
‘If the situation doesn’t conclude this time, I might have to become a member of the Palma Knights and hover around Luke Yeager.’
That would mean giving up the Academy.
He didn’t like staying in a hot country like Basor, nor did he like that idea. For some reason, He had a strong instinct to return to Baden.
‘Luke Yeager being weak is the problem.’
Helmut concluded simply.
If he had been strong enough to protect himself from the grasp of Lutus Cicero, there wouldn’t have been any problem. But since he couldn’t, it was an issue.
As Helmut was about to step down from the stage, he suddenly remembered something he had forgotten.
‘Ah, right, greetings.’
He waved his hand awkwardly, and with that insincere gesture, cheers erupted.
Hyde! Hyde! Hyde!
‘Why does Alea dislike this.’
Is it because it’s annoying being surrounded by a lot of followers? Helmut felt the thrilling excitement of being the center of attention anew. It was not a look of hostility or contempt, but one of praise. It was the treatment fit for the strong.
“Hey, it seems you took my words to heart. The timing was a bit late, though.”
Luke Yeager, who had been unfairly blamed by Helmut, was there again today. As if it was his designated spot.
His match was also after Helmut’s today. It was quite the semifinal, so there was some time in between.
Helmut faced him with a smile on his face.
“It seems you like it there.”
Though it was shady, it wasn’t as comfortable as the waiting area. By this point, it was almost like a fondness for a specific spot.
Luke glanced back at the waiting area briefly.
“No, there’s something uncomfortable today.”
“You have something uncomfortable too?”
Luke frowned.
“What do you think I am? Just a nice guy?”
In fact, that was true. Despite being a prodigy not yet twenty and strong, Luke Yeager didn’t give off a heavy or prickly vibe, which perhaps made him seem approachable.
‘Maybe that’s why Horten looks down on him.’
But the fact that Luke Yeager, who wasn’t like the typical stubborn, prideful swordsman, appealed to him was true, especially in stark contrast to Darien.
Luke had a way with words in front of Helmut. He grumbled.
“The Second Prince is coming to the waiting area. He says he’s coming to encourage us, but I think it’s just an excuse to meet me. I’d rather turn away.”
So, he was hiding here. This place was somewhat of a blind spot.
“You can just meet him.”
“Our commander supports the First Prince, and if I, a member of the Palma Knights, meet him… No, what am I even saying.”
Luke quickly covered his mouth. He was too talkative. It was a good decision not to tell him the truth. It would be hard to hide his intentions from the commander of the Palma Knights.
Helmut said nonchalantly.
“I knew.”
“You knew that too! What don’t you know? It’d be faster to start with that.”
“I know things you don’t know as well.”
“Oh yeah! like what?”
Luke was getting irritable and somewhat angry.
Helmut narrowed his eyes.
For example, that he was a disciple of his great-grandfather and had Darien’s sword, and that his commander had betrayed Darien.
Helmut changed the subject and suggested.
“You shouldn’t avoid it.”
“What are you talking about?”
An enemy’s enemy is a friend. Since the commander and the First Prince are enemies of Darien, the Second Prince would be considered a friend. It should be the same for Luke Yeager.
Helmut answered with a question.
“He knows you’re the great-grandson of the Sword Saint, right?”
“Yeah, he knows. That’s why he wants to keep talking to me. Maybe he thinks he can turn the support of the Palma Knights to his side through me?”
If he’s the great-grandson of Darien, he might have that kind of influence, though it seems he doesn’t want it.
What the Second Prince knows is unclear. But if he shows active interest in the great-grandson of the Sword Saint, what would Lutus Cicero and the First Prince think?
‘Anyway, it would be dangerous for Luke Yeager.’
“Aren’t you interested in power?”
“No, I am not”
“And the position of commander of the Palma Knights?”
“What are you talking about!”
Luke looked around. His heart was smaller than expected.
“There’s no one here. I’m just curious about the Second Prince.”
Helmut smiled slightly.
“But it doesn’t seem like you’re meeting him alone.”
“What’s that supposed to mean? You’re curious, so let’s meet him together, is that what you’re saying?”
“You can take it that way. It won’t be disadvantageous for you.”
“Why are you deciding whether it’s disadvantageous or not!”
“You’ll understand once you know.”
“I don’t know! What understanding!”
Luke Yeager, who had raised his voice, coughed awkwardly.
“Anyway, you meet the Second Prince alone. I can’t. It would make my position awkward.”
“Aren’t you curious about what I’ll say to the Second Prince?”
At Helmut’s insinuating question, Luke’s eyebrows twitched.
“If you don’t like it, stay here. I’ll meet him alone.”
Helmut passed by him swiftly.
“It wouldn’t do for someone suspicious like you to meet the Second Prince and say something strange.”
Luke eventually followed him hesitantly.
