Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 308 (Part 1):
“Is this a human village?”
Igrelle looked around as they entered the entrance.
It was still early, and Greencana was enveloped in the quiet mountain air.
It was the time when villagers were just waking up and beginning to wash their faces one by one.
Though Igrelle didn’t realize it, Greencana was far from ordinary at first glance.
For a village tucked away in the mountains, it had a distinct character.
The houses were tidy and charming, with a quaint appearance. The roofs were painted in various colors like green or blue. Though lacking the splendor of a city, it was a well-maintained village.
Seeing this, Helmut immediately realized.
‘Having the leisure to maintain houses means those who live here have no problems with their livelihood.’
Mages are wealthy folk, after all. Come to think of it, it’s strange to have such a well-maintained village in this remote mountain area.
Igrelle frowned and looked down.
“The spirit of the earth… I can certainly feel a strange energy. This powerful energy flowing from below…”
“It feels like we’ve entered a mage’s dungeon. There’s definitely a sense of entering ‘some kind of domain’.”
Alea murmured with interest as she looked around. She had once researched Sian’s spirits.
As she set foot in Greencana, the village of spirit mages, her dormant curiosity surged.
[Still, you’re no match for Elaga!]
His confident tone suggested he instinctively believed himself to be stronger. Whether that instinct remained accurate outside the Forest of Roots was uncertain.
Igrelle chided him.
“Elaga, why don’t you keep your mouth shut instead of chattering noisily? There are no talking cats in the human world, you know?”
Kak! Elaga bared his teeth at Igrelle. But he agreed that his identity should be concealed.
Sian, who had been observing them, quietly suppressed his rising anxiety.
‘Well, it should be fine.’
This is the domain of the earth spirit. No matter how strong a demonic beast is, it can’t be stronger than the earth spirit in this place.
Just as they were entering the village entrance, the dwarf-shaped stone monuments standing on both sides suddenly moved their mouths. A thin voice leaked from the monument’s mouth.
[Sian? Is that you, Sian?]
Sian responded without hesitation.
“Yes, Mom. I’m here. As I mentioned, I have some guests with me.”
[I see. Stay there. Mom is coming. Oh, but before me, your—]
“Sian, you brat!”
A shout was heard from far away. A man who looked too old to be called a youth but too young for the word middle-aged was seen running towards them with his fist raised.
[Your father is—]
His mother trailed off. She quickly added,
[I’ll be there soon. Handle things until then.]
Handle what exactly? Sian wondered but soon found out the answer.
As soon as his father reached him, he lunged directly at Sian.
Sian dodged to the side with a bewildered look. Sian’s father, who had sliced through the air, landed smoothly on the ground and turned to look at him. It was a light movement.
“You brat? You dodged?”
“Dad, what are you doing? It’s embarrassing in front of the guests.”
The model son sighed and calmly admonished his father.
In truth, Sian’s father, Azer, had expected him to dodge, and that was why he’d thrown the kick in the first place. He cleared his throat and put on a deliberately angry expression.
An opportunity had come to scold his son, who had seemed like an almost perfect model student for a very long time.
“Ahem! A father can discipline his wayward son if he wants! Sian, are you out of your mind? Disappearing after leaving only a letter behind, who taught you to do such a thing?”
As if he was going to track down whoever taught Sian to do such a thing, Azer glared at Sian’s friends standing beside him.
However, his gaze stopped on Alea and Igrelle.
There were two strikingly beautiful women that would be hard to find even in the city. And Charlotte, who was standing quietly behind them with a more modest appearance.
Only then did Azer belatedly notice all of Sian’s companions, which he hadn’t registered due to being immersed in anger.
He had said he was coming with friends, but in Azer’s mind, Sian’s friends were supposed to be more familiar and ordinary-looking people.
Azer stammered involuntarily.
“W-what is this. Sian, how did you…”
He was about to ask ‘How did you bring such beauties?’, but caught himself, realizing they were his son’s friends.
They didn’t look like friends, but anyway, it wasn’t appropriate to show an unseemly appearance to his son’s companions.
“I told you I’d come and explain. There were circumstances.”
Sian calmly replied. After all, he had lived his entire life as a model student who was even rumored to have reformed Asuka.
An aura of flawlessness emanated from him, suggesting that he had done nothing wrong and could do no wrong.
Sian, ever tactful, knew that the best approach now was to act confidently.
“Mother said she’s coming, so let’s talk when we meet her.”
