Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 317 (part 2):
It was a bustling city, a sight he hadn’t seen in a long time. It felt new and exciting.
Helmut stood still, observing his surroundings. Asuka rested his chin on Helmut’s shoulder, grinning.
“What’s wrong? Acting like a country bumpkin. Like you’ve never been to a city before?”
Helmut nodded slightly.
“It’s been a while.”
Alea flicked her fingers, brushing Asuka’s hand off Helmut’s shoulder.
“You’re dirtying him.”
“What, are you afraid your lover will get worn out? Eww, Sian, did you hear that? I called them lovers. Gross!”
“Shouldn’t you be used to it by now?”
Sian clicked his tongue. Elaga, perched on Helmut’s other shoulder, was also wide-eyed, looking around curiously.
This was Elaga’s first time in a human city, and he seemed fascinated.
[This is a human city? How can they stack stones so high? Human craftsmanship is quite mysterious.]
Sian, also looking around, quickly said,
“A talking cat would be considered more mysterious here.”
Helmut looked at Sian and asked,
“What’s the name of this city again?”
“Fidelis. It’s ruled by the Duke of the Fidelis mage family.”
“Fidelis… I feel like I’ve heard that before. Was there someone at Greta Academy?”
Alea muttered, furrowing her brows. Sian’s expression changed, as if a realization had dawned on him.
He knew Teresa was from the Fidelis family. They had once talked about being from the same kingdom.
Due to academy rules, Teresa hadn’t explicitly stated that she was a Fidelis, but when it came to the Kingdom of Veneta, the Fidelis family was the first thing that came to mind for mages. It was easy to find out through rumors among those from Veneta.
‘Senior Teresa said she was returning to her homeland after graduation.’
That meant she might be working for the king. Nobles, especially high-ranking nobles like the Fidelis, knew how to separate personal and professional matters.
She might know something about this unprecedented situation with Rodril being pressured by Veneta.
‘Could she be in Fidelis? If so, perhaps I could get some information from her. But then again, Senior Teresa must have known I’m a Rodril.’
Sian was a rare Spirit Mage. Moreover, he was a skilled mage, ranking second at Greta Academy.
Anyone with even basic knowledge would link a skilled spirit mage like him to Rodril.
‘This feels unsettling. That senior is…a typical mage.’
There were no sane people in the Magic Department. Especially if they were the top student, it was safe to assume they had personality issues.
Like Alea.
Sian prided himself on being a truly exceptionally kind and normal mage.
Teresa knew Sian was Rodril. And she was likely working for the king. She couldn’t be unaware of what was happening with Rodril. These thoughts made Sian’s head spin.
Scratching his head, he glanced at Alea. She still seemed unaware of the situation in the Kingdom of Veneta. That was a relief.
‘Weren’t Alea and Senior Teresa on bad terms?’
Were they just on bad terms, or really bad terms? There was a time when it was surprising they hadn’t resorted to a magical duel.
And the cause of their animosity was right there. Helmut.
‘Ah, that was so long ago. Senior Teresa must have moved on.’
Even if she had moved on, seeing Helmut might rekindle those feelings, and Alea definitely wouldn’t want them to face each other again.
Contacting the Fidelis Dukedom might not be a good idea.
‘Leaving Helmut and Alea out of it? That could work.’
Sian nodded, his thoughts organized. He looked at Helmut and said,
“Hey, Helmut. Since you’re in the city after so long, why don’t you look around with Alea? Elaga seems to want that too. This is Rodril’s business anyway.”
Asuka crossed his arms and asked,
“What are the rest of us supposed to do while they’re off having fun?”
“You’re coming with me. Besides, you all attract too much attention.”
It was a persuasive argument. Even now, they were attracting a lot of attention.
Helmut and Alea readily agreed.
“Alright.”
“Fine.”
