Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 321 (Part 2):
Sian’s face visibly showed his irritation. Alumni connections were shining brightly.
Now that he thought about it, everyone here was from Greta Academy, even Helmut and Alea who were away from this meeting.
As the conversation wound down, Teresa’s gaze shifted to Charlotte.
“But Charlotte, you’re in your sixth year now, right? It’s understandable for Asuka, but why are you here?”
Her eyes were filled with curiosity. Who would have guessed they had ventured into the Forest of Roots to rescue someone?
Charlotte hadn’t expected to be asked this question. She hesitated for a moment before responding.
“…I thought it would be good to see the world at least once before graduation. I meet the early graduation requirements.”
“It doesn’t seem like Renosa knows that their duchess has left the academy in the middle of the term.”
Charlotte’s eyes widened, caught off guard.
“…You knew.”
“It’s a well-known rumor. And I’m not oblivious to rumors. But it’s fine. As long as Rodril agrees to the deal, I won’t report your whereabouts to Renosa.”
A meaningful smile lingered on Teresa’s lips.
As if to imply that she would use that knowledge as leverage if things went awry.
She was definitely the type to do so. Unlike with Asuka, Sian didn’t feel much warmth toward Charlotte.
She was the blood of Renosa, who had betrayed Helmut. Regardless of her relationship with Asuka, that fact was paramount to Sian.
‘Whether Charlotte gets involved or not doesn’t matter… or does it? Renosa taking interest in Greencana would be a problem.’
It would be troublesome if Helmut’s presence were discovered.
The people of Greencana were generally discreet about their foreign guests, but there was no certainty.
Sian cut the conversation short.
“Enough with the threats. We’ll handle our own affairs.”
They were about to rise from their seats when Teresa, tilting her head, asked,
“By the way, is it just the three of you? There were more than three people who entered Greencana.”
Before anyone else could respond, Sian spoke up.
“It’s just the three of us here.”
“The man with the black hair who came with you… Who is he?”
It was a question that made them tense, but Sian, maintaining his composure, brushed it off before Asuka or Charlotte could react.
“You don’t need to know about our village’s guests.”
‘She must not know that Helmut is here.’
Teresa wouldn’t know that Helmut was Charlotte’s brother and a member of Renosa’s royal bloodline. That fact was a top secret in Renosa.
Helmut had been declared missing after leaving Renosa. Renosa had been meticulous in erasing any trace of him, as they had done when he was first born.
Even so, Helmut’s very existence being revealed was something to be avoided.
Even if it was something that would come to light eventually, now was not the time.
If Teresa visited Greencana, they could still keep it hidden. Helmut just needed to remain out of sight.
‘It might be a bit early, but I could send him back to Antiol.’
By showing Helmut to Terra, Sian had fulfilled his duty as Rodril’s spirit mage.
Helmut, too, had proven himself to her. The initial goal had already been achieved.
Teresa didn’t press further and let them go.
“Alright then. See you soon, in Greencana.”
With that final remark, their conversation ended.
Sian and his companions moved quickly to rejoin Helmut in the city.
Sian muttered under his breath as he glanced back.
“Senior Teresa, has become even more subtly unpleasant than she was at the academy. She’s grown in many ways after experiencing the real world. She’s not easy to deal with.”
Asuka, with his usual thoughtlessness, responded.
“Is she got prettier?”
Though Teresa was known as the mage, she was also considered the beauty representing Fidelis.
Sian replied with exasperation.
“That’s how she appears to you?”
“Huh? Well, wasn’t Senior Teresa known as a beauty back at the academy?”
Asuka’s careless chatter came to an abrupt halt when he noticed Charlotte staring at him.
He stammered,
“Oh, uh, not that you aren’t beautiful. You are, just in a different way. I mean, she’s not my type.”
“Is that so?”
Charlotte’s response was indifferent, as if she didn’t understand why he was saying that to her.
She tilted her head slightly, then touched Asuka’s cheek.
“Huh… huh?”
“You had some hair stuck there. Excuse me.”
With a calm smile, Charlotte brushed the stray hair off Asuka’s face and started walking again.
Asuka, momentarily stunned, hurried after her. Watching them, Sian sighed heavily.
‘You idiot. In moments like that, you’re supposed to say she’s prettier.’
Suddenly, he felt like looking up at the sky. During their school days, they were both troublemakers, so why was it only him left…
Sian couldn’t help but feel a twinge of bitterness.
‘Helmut has someone, Asuka has someone, why am I alone?’
It was strange. Out of the three of them, he had by far the best personality.
Of course, his looks were the least appealing, but that was a matter of preference, wasn’t it?
Even setting aside their faces, there was a significant difference in physique between those two from the swordsmanship department and Sian. But Sian conveniently lumped it all together as a matter of preference.
It was a phenomenon he couldn’t comprehend.
Grumbling inwardly, Sian followed Charlotte and Asuka.
