Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 324 (Part 1):
Helmut’s group returned to Greencana in less than a day.
Having achieved their objective immediately upon arrival, there was no reason to spend more time there.
It would only risk unnecessarily exposing their strength to Fidelis.
“Hey there, did everything go well?”
Igrelle waved at them as they entered the village. In the meantime, she had been making her rounds through the village.
As a result, not a single person remained around her. People had locked themselves in their homes as if disaster had struck.
Igrelle’s expression was full of dissatisfaction.
“Nothing ever goes right.”
Igrelle was following steps sequentially.
First step: adapting to human villages. Big cities would come next. That’s why she hadn’t gone with them this time. However, her intention to seduce human men wasn’t working at all.
Whenever she tried to approach aggressively, all she found were timid men who would run away with a terrified shout.
“Am I not considered beautiful by human standards? Why are their reactions like this? Is it because this is a rural village?”
Sian, who had warned the villagers about her, sighed and said,
“…Because anyone can see you’re not serious. Besides, most men in Greencana are engaged from an early age.”
She was incredibly beautiful, but she appeared overwhelmingly powerful and was terrifyingly aggressive.
It was scary when someone who clearly didn’t seem to like you or have any genuine interest in you would approach saying things like, “Hey, what do you think about me? Want to hang out with me?”
Of course, city men might have been different, but Greencana’s men were another story.
“Oh? Nothing but paired males then. Is it because it’s such a small nest? Isn’t there any unpaired male… Hey, you’re Sian, right?”
“Y-yes…?”
No way? Sian took a step back from her with a wary expression. Asuka snickered beside him.
“Right, speaking of unpaired males, isn’t that you?”
“Aren’t you also an unpaired male, senior?”
Charlotte asked with an innocent face. As if to say she and Asuka weren’t like that at all.
Asuka immediately fell silent as if struck by a silence spell.
Igrelle approached Sian with an inexplicably serious face.
“What do you think of me?”
Sian immediately recoiled, waving his hands in rejection.
“I know your true form, you know? A bird and a human just doesn’t work, right?”
Not just a human and an animal, but a demonic beast. That’s something considered perverse and unethical in most countries.
And in conservative Veneta, it was clearly illegal. While Greencana didn’t belong to any nation, it basically followed Veneta’s legal system.
“You’re a mage, aren’t you? I heard mages are beings who make the impossible possible?”
“That’s not what that saying is meant for. Anyway, I just don’t see you as a woman at all!”
“Even with this beautiful face and fantastic figure?”
Igrelle brazenly thrust her ample chest forward.
Sian flinched and backed away. His face was already too contorted to maintain any composure.
“Don’t say such weird things! You’re not just any bird, you’re a demonic beast! Incredibly powerful, huge, and terrifying!”
Igrelle narrowed her eyes and made a contemplative “Hmm” sound.
“I won’t eat you. I promise. I’ll treat you nicely. I just want to experience being human-like.”
Experience what? Sian’s face turned deathly pale.
“No, absolutely not, definitely not, I don’t even want to think about it, it’s completely burdensome! Hey Asuka! Why are you just laughing over there? Aren’t you going to help stop this?”
“What… Why should I… ? Pfft! Ukyahaha! This is great! Take this opportunity to be a bit… positive, kyahak!”
Asuka was doubled over with laughter beside them, even making choking sounds. Since Helmut and Alea had already walked past them after a quick glance, there weren’t many people left.
However, among those remaining, there was one person who could help Sian.
“Um, Lady Igrelle. Senior Sian has expressed his refusal, and it would be right to respect that.”
“There’s a human saying that no tree falls with just one strike, isn’t there? Doesn’t that mean you should keep actively pursuing what you want despite the other party’s refusal?”
Charlotte, momentarily at a loss for words, said with a serious face:
“…While such a saying exists, Senior Sian knows your true identity, and given the clear power imbalance, it could be perceived as coercion.”
“So what if it’s coercion? I heard in the human world there’s even a custom of kidnapping a woman you want and making her yours.”
‘Is she implying she would kidnap me?’
Sian anxiously backed away from Igrelle.
Against a powerful demonic beast like Igrelle, if she were to suppress him with her demonic energy, he’d barely be able to cast a single spell.
Once caught, she would be impossible to resist.
Charlotte spoke in a stern tone:
“That is clearly illegal and a serious crime in Renosa where I’m from. Only those with base and barbaric cultures among humans do such things. It’s not something a noble being like Lady Igrelle should emulate. If you wish to meet a human man, win his heart first. That is the proper human culture and custom.”
Igrelle seemed convinced by Charlotte’s words and soon nodded.
“Hmm, true. I am a noble being. Besides, it wouldn’t be right to pursue someone while staying in their nest.”
