Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 324 (Part 2):
“Charlotte…”
Sian looked at Charlotte with wide eyes, as if seeing her in a new light.
It was a moment when his affection for her, who had saved him from a crisis, welled up. Of course, it was a different kind of affection from what Asuka felt for her.
Sian immediately turned to Igrelle with a serious face.
“Anyway, please remove me from your list of candidates. I’m absolutely not an option. I also have… preferences, and above all, I don’t want a woman stronger than me!”
“Huh? You’re already so weak, shouldn’t you want a strong woman? How do you plan to live with such preferences?”
Igrelle asked with genuine puzzlement. Like how Elaga would scold Helmut, her words were 100% sincere.
Sian was left speechless. He was the vice-top student in Greta Academy’s magic department and the heir to Rodril.
By human standards, he would never be called weak anywhere.
However, among those around him, his power was utterly insignificant. Sian wanted to lament.
‘Why is my environment like this…’
He was talented, yet not recognized and even struggled to hold his head high!
While others might envy him for being surrounded by such exceptional people, he certainly didn’t feel that way himself.
Igrelle looked Sian up and down before saying, as if doing him a favor:
“Fine, I’ll respect your wishes. But that doesn’t mean I’m giving up on you. As Charlotte said, there’s a proper way to do this.”
“What?”
‘What? Not giving up? Why is she suddenly fixated on me!’
It was like being struck by lightning. Whether Sian was shocked or not, Igrelle turned away with a meaningful smile.
She was planning to seriously study ways to win Sian over.
The reason Sian became her target was simple. Not because Igrelle found him particularly special, but because there were no other suitable candidates around!
As soon as Igrelle disappeared, Sian sighed and clutched his forehead.
All the world’s worries and anxieties seemed to be contained in his sigh.
It was bad enough being single, but to have a demonic beast pursuing him! It was an unbelievable reality.
“Did I sell out my country in a past life or something?”
Charlotte patted Sian’s shoulder with a sympathetic face.
“Senior Sian, hang in there.”
That shoulder-patting contact seemed to irritate Asuka, who had finally stopped laughing and spoke with displeasure.
“No need to worry about someone like him. He’ll figure it out himself.”
Charlotte made a genuinely puzzled expression.
“Are you really friends?”
“That’s just how friendship between men works. Let’s go to his house.”
Asuka moved quickly, disparaging male friendship as a whole.
Sian gritted his teeth and muttered at him:
“I won’t forget this debt.”
This was directed at both Charlotte who helped him and Asuka who just laughed. Either way, his path ahead seemed rather challenging.
*
“I’ve returned after talking with the people from House Fidelis.”
After composing his gloomy thoughts, Sian returned home and reported to Terra and Azer.
After listening to his entire story, Terra opened her mouth with a serious expression.
“So you’re saying this Teresa girl will be visiting our village soon?”
“Yes.”
A fleeting smile crossed her lips.
“Interesting and bold. To come up with such a plan. Is this how Greta Academy is teaching mages these days?”
“…No, that’s not it. It’s just Senior Teresa’s personality. She’s known for using whatever she can to her advantage. She was famous for it since academy days.”
“In her eyes, you must have seemed quite approachable as a conversation partner.”
For some reason, Sian felt stung by those words. His mother’s gentle expression felt strangely unfamiliar.
“Well… Senior Teresa is, well, a senior. And you know my personality, right?”
Being friendly and getting along with everyone also means not appearing intimidating.
And to someone with a strong personality, it can make you look like an easy target.
“Anyway, thanks to you, we’ve learned the will of the Kingdom of Veneta. You did well, Sian.”
A result obtained in just one day. They now knew the will of the King of Veneta, which had previously been unclear.
But despite praising him, Terra’s expression remained firm. Sian tilted his head.
“Don’t you plan to let this end here?”
“Sian, we are Rodril. Rodril does not bow to anyone.”
“…I thought you didn’t intend to wage war.”
To Sian’s knowledge, neither his mother nor father had ever engaged in a violent conflict.
They might have had minor disputes or fights, but they both lived peacefully in Greencana.
He thought this matter, too, would be resolved peacefully, perhaps by yielding a bit.
After all, he preferred avoiding headaches, even if it meant compromising. And Veneta had expressed willingness to pay a price.
However, Terra declared firmly,
“If they request a deal, we can deal with them. But they were rude and kidnapped a resident of Greencana. If we trade with Veneta, it won’t be done by bowing our heads. They will understand that clearly.”
Sian met her intense gaze for a moment before nodding slowly.
“Yes…”
If that was his mother’s will, he had to be prepared as well. As a member of Rodril.
Azer merely shook his head beside them.
