Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 327 (Part 2):
Teresa arrived in Greencana at the scheduled time.
“I shall escort you to Veneta’s royal palace. His Majesty the King is waiting.”
As she spoke, Teresa quickly observed the group standing with Terra.
Seven people, counting humans. Plus that cat.
‘……Doesn’t that cat look like the one I saw in Fidelis? No, it must be the same one. Then that blonde man must be…’
He was among them. Tall with a handsome face. His striking appearance and somewhat intimidating presence.
Clearly not someone of ordinary capability.
But his face was unfamiliar. His impression was slightly different from when she saw him at Fidelis, though she had only caught a glimpse then.
Teresa turned her smiling gaze to Terra.
“Your party is larger than expected.”
“There will be royal mages, knights, and countless soldiers in the palace. This much preparation seems reasonable on our end, don’t you think?”
“Of course. But might I receive some introductions? There are both familiar and unfamiliar faces here.”
“Who do you mean? This is Igrelle. A martial artist from a distant country…”
Terra pronounced the word ‘martial artist’ awkwardly. Igrelle couldn’t handle a sword.
She also couldn’t use magic. However, she could exert powerful force in human form. With her fists.
Even with her transformed appearance, her physical strength hadn’t diminished – she could still crush a human skull with her bare hands. Hence the designation as a martial artist.
Igrelle greeted with a gentleness unbefitting a martial artist.
“Pleased to meet you.”
“And this is…”
Teresa’s footsteps moved. They stopped right in front of Alea.
Due to the transformation magic, her appearance was unrecognizable. An ordinary-looking woman without a single strand of hair resembling Alea’s.
Wearing a mage’s robe, all that could be determined was that she was a mage.
But Teresa spoke with conviction.
“It’s been a while, Alea.”
Alea’s body twitched. An expression of disbelief crossed her face.
How could someone like Teresa see through her magic? It was a moment when Alea’s pride crumbled.
Of course, Teresa hadn’t actually seen through Alea’s magic. She had merely guessed. That guess was incredibly accurate.
Alea frowned and asked.
“How did you know, senior?”
“Simple deduction. I knew about your presence from Fidelis. A mage whose magic I can’t read. Such mages are rare. Besides, you’re close to Sian, aren’t you? Though I admit, seeing you as a woman was unexpected… Oh, you are a woman.”
Teresa’s eyes flashed sharply. She accepted without surprise the fact that Sian and Asuka had struggled to acknowledge.
“So that’s why. You disliked me. Was it jealousy? Or rivalry?”
As the top graduate of the magic department and a renowned beauty, Teresa was known for her pride.
Her personality was far from humble, which earned her many enemies. It wouldn’t have been strange for Alea to dislike her.
“As if I’d feel such emotions toward someone like you, senior. Those feelings are reserved for people inferior to me.”
Yet even as she spoke these cold words, Alea had to acknowledge it.
Teresa had become formidable. Not just in terms of magical ability, but comprehensively.
“You hid being a woman and pretended to be a man at the academy. I wonder why?”
That reason was Alea’s weakness. The Temple’s nemesis, Heike’s granddaughter. Alea responded calmly.
“That’s none of your business.”
“Fine, since you don’t seem willing to tell me, I’ll find out myself. More importantly, why are you in Greencana? Why are you involved in this matter?”
“I just stopped by to research spirits. When trouble arose, I couldn’t ignore it after receiving their hospitality.”
“Fair enough. The reason doesn’t matter. Your presence here is what’s significant. Now, finally—this person…”
Teresa’s gaze moved naturally. It was directed at Helmut, who stood composedly beside Alea. Her eyes scanned him up and down. It was a persistent stare.
Though Teresa couldn’t see through Alea’s magic, she could at least tell when magic had been cast on someone.
In other words, she knew the person was under transformation magic.
Alea spoke coldly.
“He’s a mercenary I hired. Sometimes I need a swordsman. Someone you don’t know, senior.”
“Is that so? Then I’ll take your word for it.”
Smiling brightly, Teresa suddenly reached out toward Helmut. Alea’s body tensed, and Helmut’s hand moved.
He brushed aside Teresa’s hand reaching for his head as if clearing away an object.
The movement was too weak and slow to be considered defensive. Helmut tilted his head and asked.
“What are you doing?”
“Ah, there was an insect in your hair. Excuse me.”
Teresa turned away as if nothing had happened.
However, her heart was pounding. Excitement and shock at discovering new information, and another indescribable emotion.
‘So you were here, Helmut. You’re alive.’
“Shall we depart?”
As she naturally announced this and began walking, a deep smile settled on her lips.
