Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 338 (Part 1):
Charlotte. Now, she was the only one left.
Although it wasn’t a direct threat to destroy Renosa or kill the Grand Duchess and Michael, as the Duchess of Renosa, Charlotte found it hard to accept this easily.
Helmut’s claim to regain his rightful position was a declaration that he might become the Grand Duke of Renosa.
The Grand Duke of Renosa with the Seed of Darkness! Charlotte had already witnessed that danger four years ago.
Moreover, Charlotte was also one of the heirs of Renosa, so if she had any ambition, it was something she couldn’t tolerate.
However, the heir closest to the position of Grand Duke was Michael.
With no intention of confronting him directly, Charlotte knew that rising to the position of Duke of Renosa would be a distant dream, though not entirely impossible.
Michael was frail, and she was healthy, so her turn could come at any time.
Charlotte’s expression was rigid. She hadn’t expressed negativity or opposition, but she seemed slightly shocked.
“What are you going to do?”
Helmut finally turned his gaze to her and asked.
Charlotte must have already predicted what would happen when he rescued her from the Forest of Roots. Did she also predict that things would go this way?
Even if Charlotte declared that she couldn’t join him and left, Helmut would let her go.
At least he believed she wouldn’t report him to Renosa.
Sian scratched his cheek and looked away, and Asuka also kept his mouth shut.
This was not an issue that could be forced upon anyone.
Charlotte slowly opened her mouth.
“Senior is of Renosa’s bloodline and the legitimate son of the Grand Duke. That is your right. I believe it is only natural for you to reclaim what you have lost.”
But she blinked and continued.
“However, if the method involves shaking the country of Renosa, I cannot participate. The people of the Grand Ducal House of Renosa bear the duty to protect Renosa. My joining in going to the Forest of Roots because I owe you my life.”
Charlotte hadn’t been without her own thoughts. Who could help Helmut, and who could Helmut enlist?
It was a force that could potentially shake Renosa.
Helmut declared firmly.
“What you’re worried about won’t happen.”
“Senior, there is one thing you must know. The next Grand Duke of Renosa is determined by the current Grand Duke of Renosa. No one can dispute that decision.”
It was a law established to prevent endless disputes over succession.
Even if Charlotte and Helmut’s father, the current Grand Duke of Renosa, acknowledged that Helmut was his son and the rightful heir of Renosa, the problem remained afterward.
If the Grand Duke of Renosa decided Michael was the next Grand Duke, that was the end of it.
And what Helmut desired was not simply to be recognized as one of the Grand Duke’s children.
Four years ago, that would have been enough. No, he didn’t even dare to hope for that much. But now things were different.
“I will obtain what I want through legitimate means.”
He had no intention of threatening the Grand Duke or using forceful methods. He just needed to show the Grand Duke that:
Helmut was the one who truly deserved to be the heir of Renosa.
“If that’s the case, then I…”
“You only need to do the minimum from your position.”
She was, after all, the daughter of the Grand Duchess of Renosa and Michael’s sibling.
Unlike Helmut, she wasn’t completely at odds with them.
Finally, Charlotte answered.
“Then I will join you. What do you want me to do?”
Her words were plain and direct, yet her black eyes—identical to Helmut’s—shone with determination. It was a resolve as unyielding as steel.
“For now, return to Greta Academy. If you remain absent for too long, Renosa will grow suspicious.”
“Yes, understood.”
Charlotte nodded without hesitation.
Now, finally, the path was set. It was time for each of them to move in their own way.
The next day, Charlotte left immediately using Alea’s teleportation magic. Alea handed her a magic crystal ball. They could contact each other at any time through it.
Charlotte would return to Greta Academy and wait for the right time.
Sian and Asuka were also busy. Asuka needed to go to the city to get his mercenary badge. Likewise, Sian had to register with the Mage Association to formalize his employment under Helmut.
The plan to stay in Greencana until Heike arrived had not changed.
When Sian and Asuka left for the city, Helmut remained in Greencana with the two demonic beasts and Alea.
Then, Terra approached Helmut, who was practicing his swordsmanship in the open field.
“Helmut, can we talk for a moment?”
“Yes.”
