Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 351 (Part 1):
“……In exchange, regardless of what happens to Renosa, I can guarantee Charlotte’s future.”
Asuka, who was already imagining marriage for some reason, blurted out those words. He certainly had the capability to back them up.
Asuka had graduated at the top of Greta Academy’s swordsmanship department. His skills were already proven, and with that level of swordsmanship, it was clear he’d have no trouble making a living.
Even if he didn’t join a knight order, he could always work as a mercenary.
Sian responded flatly.
“By that logic, Charlotte’s the same. She’s also the top of the swordsmanship department.”
From Sian’s perspective, Asuka currently had no way to attract Charlotte other than his swordsmanship skills.
He’d already shown her nothing but the kind of behavior that would repel any rational person. He was brash, impatient, and violent.
“And since Helmut doesn’t intend to harm her, it’s not like Charlotte’s future is doomed.”
Sian wagged his finger side to side as he spoke.
“Seriously, think about it carefully.”
Asuka was plunged into a long silence. It was a rare moment of anguish for someone who usually lived without much thought.
Sian let Asuka fully savor this uncommon moment.
‘I’ve done this much, so if anyone’s listening, they’ll probably let me go safely.’
Sian had worked hard to prove he wasn’t a bad friend.
Someone of imperial status could probably eliminate Sian, even as the heir of Rodril, without anyone noticing if they felt like it.
There was a small sense of unease.
And at some point while they were immersed in silence, the door burst open.
A man leisurely stepped into the room.
‘They look alike.’
Sian’s eyes widened as he saw the man. He was tall and broad-shouldered, with a physique more suited to a swordsman than a scholar.
Grand Duke Farnese was exceptional in swordsmanship, but he was also accomplished in academics, serving as an advisor to the emperor.
For a royal, that was the more fitting path.
Despite his prowess with the sword, his personality was more akin to a scholar than a swordsman.
The man looked remarkably young for his presumed age, handsome enough to be Asuka’s older brother without it seeming odd.
Unlike Asuka’s blue hair, his was a deep mahogany.
But their facial features and eyes were quite similar.
If anyone had seen the two of them standing together, they would have immediately recognized their blood relation.
The moment the man entered, the atmosphere in the room shifted. This was the impression of a ruler’s class.
He exuded a calm yet weighty dignity, exactly what one would expect from the word “royal.”
Meeting a friend’s father for the first time was always a bit awkward.
Sian politely greeted him.
But Asuka was different.
“You!”
Asuka shot up from his seat. Flames ignited in his eyes.
“Still as ill-mannered as ever.”
The man murmured calmly, as if Asuka’s disrespectful attitude was nothing new.
“Asuka, stop.”
Sian grabbed Asuka by the shoulder, trying to hold him back. Asuka growled and argued.
“Where do you get off dragging people here like this? And you even got the Imperial mages involved!”
That was why Asuka hated his father.
Whenever Asuka disliked something, his father would propose a new alternative. But that was it. His father treated Asuka as a problem he had to manage.
In essence, Asuka’s life was predetermined by his father’s will, and Asuka simply had to follow the path laid out for him.
His father was cold and firm. Until now, Asuka hadn’t run away, so he hadn’t been dragged back.
But now that he had, his father had immediately sent people to fetch him.
“The duties of the imperial knights and mages are not trivial. They have their own responsibilities, yet you’ve needlessly wasted their efforts.”
This high-handed, blame-shifting tone. His father always tried to impose some kind of responsibility on Asuka and teach him a lesson.
You were wrong in this regard, and you need to fix it.
Grand Duke Farnese was the polar opposite of Asuka.
Facing him made Asuka’s blood boil and his anger flare. So, naturally, he didn’t like confronting him.
This time, Asuka shouted again.
“What the hell! Who told you to send those people to drag me back? You’re the one who ordered it, and now you’re blaming me!”
A stern rebuke flowed from the man’s mouth, aimed squarely at Asuka.
“Foolish boy, did you think you could live as you please forever? Did you not realize your indulgence wouldn’t be tolerated after graduating from the academy?”
“No, I didn’t! And I don’t care either!”
“Hey, don’t get too emotional.”
This was a matter of his safety. Sian couldn’t help but intervene, but Asuka shoved him away.
Unable to use magic, Sian tumbled backward onto the sofa. Asuka didn’t even look at him.
‘What the hell, this guy!’
Whether Sian was fuming or not, the conversation between father and son continued standing there.
Grand Duke Farnese remained composed, while Asuka was in a state of agitation.
Fortunately, he still had enough sense not to lunge at his father.
