Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 365 (Part 2):
Asuka spoke to them without hesitation.
“Did the Temple send you?”
Even suspecting such a thing could be considered blasphemy, but Asuka didn’t care.
Unsurprisingly, no answer came from the intruders. They immediately charged at Asuka and the imperial knights.
Just before the battle resumed, Asuka smirked. He then shouted loudly.
“Lumen, you piece of crap! Lumen, you blockhead! Lumen, you bastard!”
At that moment, the intruders’ bodies trembled. Even if they tried to hide it, some things were impossible to conceal.
For the devout, blasphemy was one such thing.
“Blasphemer! How dare you!”
One of the intruders roared. Asuka stuck out his tongue, taunting them.
“Ehehe! Lumen, you chickenhead! Are you chicken droppings? Lumen’s little trash eggs!”
“I’ll definitely cut off your head today!”
Dealing with an enemy charging in anger was easier than fighting an enemy using numerical superiority to press the attack.
But it seemed Asuka’s blasphemy had boosted the enemy’s combat strength, as it wasn’t as easy as he thought.
Every intruder’s sword was aimed at Asuka. But the outcome was inevitable.
Since Asuka’s appearance, the battle’s outcome had become clear.
—
The Crown Prince and the knight safely stepped into the library.
The Crown Prince, who was usually immersed in documents and books, breathed heavily. After running at full speed, he was gasping for air.
“If I had known this would happen, I would’ve trained my body more.”
“It’s still dangerous. Let’s move to the section with the books. We can’t consider this place safe yet.”
The knight urged the Crown Prince with a tense expression. There was a sense of unease, as if someone might chase them in at any moment.
They quickly moved deeper into the library. Not long after, a few masked intruders entered the library.
At that moment, Sian was engrossed in reading.
He often stayed in the imperial library until dawn, buried in books.
The imperial library’s collection was vast. The number of magic books here surpassed even that of Baden, the city of magic.
The Greta Academy library paled in comparison to this treasure trove of magic. Having come to such a place, he couldn’t waste time. He was burning with scholarly passion.
“There are quite a few books on spirits here. Greta Academy didn’t have many books on spirits.”
For a spirit mage, there was no place richer in information. It was only because of the status of Grand Duke Farnese that he was allowed access to such a place.
For the first time, Sian felt glad to have Asuka as a friend.
Whether it was Helmut, Alea, or Asuka, none of that mattered to him now.
What could be more important to a mage than magical research!
Suddenly, everything went dark. A pitch-black darkness where nothing could be seen.
‘What, is it lights-out time?’
But the imperial library was lit 24 hours a day. Sian had confirmed this many times while spending nights here.
The lights were powered by magic, so it was strange for them to go out. Unless there was a disruption in the flow of magic.
‘It’s too dark to read.’
Annoyed, Sian casually raised his hand. A magic circle glowed on his palm, and a large-eyed spirit landed on it.
Delighted to show itself, the spirit swayed back and forth, even dancing.
Sian, who had been watching it fondly, suddenly realized something.
“Huh? Why can I summon a spirit?”
With a puzzled expression, Sian quickly checked.
Soon, a dark spirit was summoned and landed on the pile of books.
“The library’s barrier… has been lifted?”
Sian’s expression turned serious. The barrier of the imperial library being lifted was a big deal.
At the very least, the imperial mages would be summoned within 30 minutes.
If magic couldn’t be used, they wouldn’t be able to quickly locate the Crown Prince in the imperial library, and the Crown Prince might have already hidden in a safe spot.
They had chosen to ensure the Crown Prince’s death, even if it meant escalating the situation! And with a time limit.
Of course, Sian didn’t know that. But he vaguely sensed that now wasn’t the time to be reading books.
Among those granted free access to the imperial library, few would be here at this hour.
At this time, Sian was almost alone guarding the library.
‘If I take these books and run….’
For a moment, he was tempted, but he knew that would quickly lead to a warrant for his arrest. Sian suppressed his greed and stood up.
*Thud!*
At that moment, a dull noise echoed, as if something had collided. Someone was approaching from the direction of the light.
Sian, feeling wary, stood up. He waited quietly until the other party revealed themselves.
Finally, a young man emerged from between the bookshelves, pushing through the darkness. His expression was twisted, likely from bumping into things while running through the dark.
His attire was luxurious at a glance. With that appearance and clothing, he was clearly at least a high-ranking noble, if not royalty. If he was royalty, then perhaps… Asuka’s cousin?
If he had permission to enter the imperial library at this hour.
Sian quickly deduced the other’s identity.
“Your Highness, the Crown Prince?”
