In an instant, transcending space and time, to the Forest of Roots.

They were flying toward the Forest of Roots as a single group of ten.

The scenery changed at lightning speed.

Before they knew it, a pure white barrier was before their eyes.

However, the moment they passed through the barrier, what spread black across their vision was darkness.

A pitch-black curtain that turned the world into night enveloped them.

*Kuung!*

It shook so violently that their heads throbbed as if bombarded by something.

The sacred magic guiding them to the Forest of Roots was shaking uncontrollably.

Though they were wrapped in powerful holy power, in the atmosphere filled with magi, it rapidly lost strength like a meteor falling to the ground.

*Kwaaaaa!*

They hadn’t failed to consider variables, but this was an unpredictable outcome.

The meteor, split into two large pieces, fell toward different locations in the Forest of Roots.

In any case, entry into the Forest of Roots was a success.

Though whether they were safe remained unknown.

The remaining ones should pray for the success of those who had departed and prepare for the coming battle.

* * *

*Tak!*

Helmut, revealing himself in midair, set his feet on the ground and stood.

Though there had been an anomaly midway, the transfer to the Forest of Roots was successful.

The holy power that clung to his body, imparting a slight floating sensation, was devoured by magi and scattered the moment he reached the ground.

‘Elaga? Where is Alea.’

Helmut tried to sense his surroundings as soon as he landed.

While passing through the sacred barrier, the magic had shaken violently.

The magic, split into two branches, had shaken even more as it neared the destination.

The transfer magic to the Forest of Roots was originally designed for a small number of people.

With more than ten people, regrettably, they had been scattered upon arrival due to the interference midway.

From what Helmut sensed, it had split in half and changed directions, so about half should be nearby.

He couldn’t tell who had come this way.

‘It’s fortunate. They all have the strength to protect themselves.’

The air was acrid. The air drawn into his respiratory system was steeped in demonic energy.

Even though this was the Forest of Roots, for the demonic energy to be this dense.

It was like toxic smoke slowly leaking from a volcano on the verge of eruption, tainting the air.

The volcano here would be the demon realm.

His seal was still intact.

After confirming that, Helmut immediately took a Rosetta pill and began moving.

First, he needed to find the companions who had fallen nearby.

‘Where is this place?’

A crunching sound came with each step.

It was a thin layer of snow frozen into ice. The surroundings were entirely white.

Demonic energy couldn’t penetrate water. Thus, snow or ice, composed of moisture, likewise retained their pure color.

The climate here was distinctly colder than where he had lived.

Yes, this was a place Helmut had visited before.

“……The north?”

It was the last place he had stopped before leaving the Forest of Roots.

Kantura would be aghast. After going to the trouble of sending him away, he’d come back again.

Would that cowardly turtle also be under the Demon King’s control? It was possible.

Helmut harbored vigilance.

‘I need to leave this place quickly.’

Below the ice was the sea. No matter how skilled, fighting in the sea was on another level.

It was an absolutely disadvantageous battlefield.

‘Fortunately, he’s at the northern edge, and this seems… a bit distant from there.’

If it were near the northern edge, the sacred barrier would have been visible or sensible to the naked eye.

Of course, that was before.

But with blurred vision and senses, there was nothing he could discern. Not even where this was.

‘It couldn’t be this filled with demonic energy near the sacred barrier.’

Helmut slowly took a step forward.

In this thick magi, like being enveloped in fog, even properly sensing someone was difficult.

At that moment, a deafening noise that seemed to tear his eardrums rang out.

*Piyuuuuung!*

Red flames soaring upward dotted the ashen sky.

It was magic. Not too far away.

Helmut immediately kicked off the ground and leaped. Because he knew that might attract demonic beasts.

*Piyuuuuung! Piyuuuuung! Piyuuung!*

With the clamor, flames burst forth in succession, decorating the sky.

It was like a scene from a festival.

Helmut reached the spot shortly after. Red-tinged silver hair came into view.

There were two with silver hair. But Helmut distinguished immediately. Alea was standing there.

“You’re the fastest.”

Alea smiled brightly as she greeted him. With relief, Helmut stopped at her side.

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah, it seems the temple put some effort into it. At least, to ensure we could set foot on the ground safely. Everyone should have arrived unharmed.”

They had arrived floating gently in not-too-high air. It was safe until the moment their feet touched the ground.

Helmut said.

“It felt like it split into two midway.”

Alea responded.

“I felt that too. Some to the north, and some elsewhere. It would be troublesome if they arrived in the central area by themselves.”

There were three who were coming to the Forest of Roots for the first time.

It would be fortunate if those three were with the others. They had shared information about the Forest of Roots, but in a situation where visibility was this poor, judgment would be difficult.

They might end up completely lost.

“The High Priests might avoid the demonic beasts.”

Helmut said hopefully.

Those guys who wouldn’t even go near the sacred barrier wouldn’t want to eat prey that emanated holy power.

Alea furrowed her brow.

“Normally, yes, but if they’re demonic beasts under the Demon King’s control, they might attack instead.”

“We can only hope they didn’t move to the central area.”

The central area, where the entrance to the demon realm would open, would be teeming with demonic beasts under the Demon King’s control.

It was fortunate that they themselves hadn’t fallen there, but they didn’t know about the others.

They had selected the best ten with the intention of acting together, but the situation had unfolded coincidentally.
