Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 463 (Part 1):
Despite all the talk, Kantara swallowed the pill Helmut gave him without hesitation.
[This… my mind feels clearer. Such a pleasant scent…]
“If you have that, you’ll be free from the Demon King’s control. Will you help us?” Alea asked in a gentle tone.
[I’ll… only help find… what you’re looking for. I don’t… want to fight.]
“You’re free to choose. But if that Demon King revives, won’t you become a target too?”
[I’ll stay… in my domain. If I’m in the sea… I’ll be fine.]
It wasn’t unexpected, but it seemed Kantara had no intention of joining the fight. Well, even if the Demon King took over the world, it wouldn’t necessarily be bad for a demonic beast like Kantara. After all, he had lived in the Forest of Roots, teeming with demonic beasts. Unlike Elaga or Igrelle, Kantara wasn’t brimming with willpower or fond of roaming around. The fact that he hadn’t turned hostile was good enough for now.
“Do as you please,” Helmut replied readily.
Alea pointed out a crucial detail. “If we’re heading west, that means the others who split off from us went toward Baharek’s domain. And there’s a high chance he’s already fallen under the Demon King’s control.”
Helmut nodded. “Baharek might have headed to the central region… but if not, things could get dangerous.”
“Then let’s move out. To the west,” Luke Yeager said with a serious expression. Heading west would be the best way to rendezvous with the others.
“Hold on,” Helmut interjected, turning to Kantara. “Hey, Kantara. Are there others besides us who ended up in your domain?”
[Besides you… there were… others, I think.]
‘Others’ implied multiple people. It wasn’t surprising, considering their group had split into two. Some might not have seen the flare Alea sent up, or they could be too far away.
Helmut and Alea exchanged a glance. Alea asked, “Can you guide us to them?”
[I don’t… know exactly where. But… if you head west from here…]
Perhaps they’d find them along the way. Helmut nodded. “Alright, let’s go.”
[Wait… step aside.]
As the three moved to the edge, the ice sheet trembled as if an earthquake had struck.
*Crack-crack-crack-crack!*
A grinding sound, like ice splitting apart, rose from below, and soon cracks spiderwebbed across the ice where they stood.
*Crash! Boom!*
Breaking through the ice, Kantara’s head emerged. He climbed onto the ice sheet, shattering the frozen surface around him.
“What a ferocious turtle,” Luke Yeager remarked, visibly unnerved.
Kantara’s revealed form was staggeringly massive. Luke had never encountered a demonic beast this enormous in his life.
[You… are slow. Get… on my back.]
Kantara’s words carried a clear desire to get rid of them quickly. Alea asked, “Are you sure you’re alright?”
[My mind… is clear.]
Kantara’s golden eyes gleamed with clarity. Alea pulled another Rosetta pill from her pocket and said, “Open your mouth.”
As Kantara complied, Helmut tossed the pill from Alea’s hand into his mouth. “Savor it as we go.”
[Give me… more. It’s… delicious…]
“…Fine.”
They had brought an abundant supply of Rosetta pills. If needed, they could even cultivate more here, especially if they reunited with Sian. Helmut stuffed a handful of pills into the gluttonous Kantara’s mouth and climbed onto his back. Alea and Luke Yeager followed suit.
“In all my life, I never thought I’d ride a demonic beast,” Luke Yeager said, his voice tinged with awe.
Helmut offered a warning. “Keep your balance. You might fall off.”
“Huh? How fast can a turtle be?”
Those words seemed to provoke Kantara.
[Humans… here we go!]
The moment they were secure, Kantara launched forward, kicking off with a force like a brewing storm.
*Crack-crack-crack!*
His body slid forward, crushing the ice sheet and using his shell like a sled across the frozen ground. The icy terrain made this method of movement particularly effective. The downside was that every jolt reverberated through their bodies, but the speed was undeniably impressive.
Without a word, Kantara charged westward for some time before suddenly halting.
