Kwooooo!

With a sharp whooshing sound, the golem was soaring into the sky.

Spiraling upward with the black pillar beside it.

Heike and Alea poured magic into the golem while holding mana stones in their hands.

Alea furrowed her brows.

“The air resistance is… no joke.”

“Well, two forces are clashing up there.”

Heike responded calmly as she gazed at the situation above.

Levina clung to the golem’s saddle, straining to see the situation above.

It was hard to even keep her eyes open in the strong wind.

In case of emergency, she hadn’t tied her body to the golem, so at one point, her body swayed.

At that moment, a hand extended from behind to support her back.

“Ah…! Thank you.”

Helmut didn’t respond, nor did he glance at her; he only stared fixedly upward.

The swirling clash of demonic energy and holy power felt vividly on his skin.

The power of divine energy, the natural enemy, was stubborn and strong, but the Demon King, receiving endless power from the black pillar, was burning infinite demonic energy to challenge Lumen.

It was a clash between the Demon King and Lumen.

‘This situation is intriguing.’

The force driving the world to destruction and the force protecting the world.

Ironically, the former had saved him, while the latter had tried to kill him. Multiple times.

Yet now, he stood on Lumen’s side.

‘No, not on Lumen’s side.’

I’m fighting for myself.

Helmut resolved.

Before they knew it, they were racing toward the apex. The end of the black pillar came into view.

Even the sight of the power flowing from that end infusing the Demon King was clear.

Alea and Heike, the two mages, poured out their magic, overcoming the resistance to approach the Demon King.

The scene from inside looked quite different from outside.

At the highest ceiling of the dome-shaped sacred barrier, the writhing abyss clashed swirlingly with the pure white sacred barrier, visible in sharp detail.

It was alien, and momentarily captivating in its majesty. It was like the embodiment of myth.

The moment they ascended to the target point, Alea exhaled.

She and Heike were maintaining a barrier to protect from the surrounding pressure. Because of that, their mana was depleting rapidly.

Even with Heike’s help, it was this bad; if the barrier vanished, they would plummet straight down like broken branches.

Casting magic with one hand and pulling out a mana stone with the other, Alea frowned.

“Is the bottom still far?”

“Lady Levina, you must prepare.”

Heike turned to Levina.

The bird had now stopped ascending. Tilting slightly, it was flapping its wings horizontally.

Levina slowly rose from her seat. The distant bottom below was filled with black fog, barely visible.

Thanks to that, the sense of distance was lessened, allowing her to overcome the fear of standing alone in a high place.

As well as the burden of facing a mighty enemy with the fate of the world at stake.

Just as Sian and Elaga knew what they had to do, she too knew what she had to do.

Determination settled in her eyes.

Her gaze was clear, her mind sharp.

She would fulfill her duty as a high priest. Without hesitation, even if it meant burning her life away.

Helmut also drew his sword and stood up.

The mages had no strength left. He and the high priest had to handle it.

If the entrance to the demon realm was closed from below, the Demon King would be isolated up there.

Though receiving power from the demonic energy gathered from outside, for a brief moment, it would be overwhelmed by the sacred barrier.

For the sacred magic to fully burn the Demon King, he had to clear a path to reach him. With his sword.

That was his role. The party naturally, as if guided by foresight, was taking their positions.

Helmut was simply doing the same.

Levina, standing side by side on the bird’s back, turned toward Helmut.

“I can do this alone.”

“I think I mind.”

It wasn’t to help her. It was to increase the chances.

Helmut conveyed that point clearly in a cold tone.

Levina shook her head.

“I’m concerned that you might be dominated by the Demon King.”

He was one with the Seed of Darkness. Though sealed, the Demon King was far too close.

If Helmut swung his sword at Levina, she wouldn’t be able to block it.

Close combat was the domain of Holy Knights, not High Priests.

“I won’t allow that to happen.”

The Demon King could not dominate him.

Helmut was a Sword Saint, the strongest swordsman among humans.

His Vis was a power that would not be dominated.

Thus, he would confirm to the end that their worries were just that—worries.

Helmut was resolute.

As if declaring to the temple that had antagonized him solely based on his ominous potential.

Levina’s eyes trembled slightly. After biting her lip once, she spoke.

“Helmut, you may not want this, but… I want to say this at least.”

Helmut met her gaze.

Levina’s eyes were gentle and strangely warm. It was a look she had never shown him before.

“I’m sorry. Not as a High Priest, but as the human Levina. To the baby you were, and to you four years ago.”

She had done what was right as a High Priest, but now, she could no longer tell if it was right.

Hadn’t Helmut proven it himself?

He had survived, and he was in control of himself with a sound mind.

Lumen had not rejected him. It was the temple that had rejected him.

However, acknowledging that fact was something the human Levina could do, not the high priest.
