Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 71 (Part 2):
The letter read Since the Kudrow mansion was close to Greta Academy, Helmut could commute, so he didn’t necessarily have to live in the dormitory. However, it was a requirement regardless of necessity. Greta Academy wanted all students to live in the dormitory as a principle. Becoming a person suitable for Greta Academy began with living a life tied to the academy.
There were occasional exceptions for those who had a dorm outside for reasons such as physical disability or needing to support a family. But, in principle, it was not allowed. Helmut did not find it difficult to accept that he had to live in the dormitory. He was adept at ignoring whoever he lived with, whether it was noisy or whatever the other person did.
‘Who will I be sharing a room with?’
Helmut opened the letter with interest. Only the dorm room number was written plainly.
_ 3rd floor, room 301. Move your belongings before the semester starts? Clean it yourself or hire someone.
There was no need to move in right away. It was okay to live there starting from the semester. However, Helmut decided to move his residence immediately.
‘I should go see the room today.’
To know what was needed, it was best to first look around the room. Helmut made up his mind and headed straight to the dormitory. Upon reaching the entrance of the dormitory, a familiar voice called out to him.
“Hey, Helmut. Where’s your room?”
It was Sian. He appeared as if he knew Helmut was coming. He was carrying a box full of belongings. Helmut silently showed him the letter.
“3rd floor, room 301? That’s good if it’s on the 3rd floor. There are specifically good rooms in the dormitory. The rooms on the left side of the 3rd floor are generally well-regarded. Baden has a stable climate, but it’s cool in summer and warm in winter.”
And he added, unasked.
“I’m in room 307 on the 3rd floor! If you’re not confident about cleaning, it’s best to arrange for someone right after moving your belongings, after consulting with your roommate. If you want, I can look into it for you. It’ll cost about 200 marks.”
Helmut nodded and headed to the dormitory reception. Many students were lined up. There were many glances at Helmut, but no one actually approached him to talk. He didn’t have the kind of face that invited conversation. Rather, those who tried to ask him something would flinch and close their mouth.
He was obviously a rare beauty, but his calm atmosphere didn’t stand out. His excessively black eyes and hair, along with the sharp aura he carried, made it difficult for strangers to approach him. Except for the dull or bold, or Alea’s fanatical followers, it was rare for strangers to speak to Helmut.
After waiting, it was finally his turn. Helmut presented the letter he received.
“3rd floor, room 301? That’s…”
The clerk seemed unexpectedly shocked.
“Is there a problem?”
“No, it’s not that. But… good luck.”
With those unexpected words, he handed over the key. Helmut took it and went up to the 3rd floor. With the semester approaching, most academy students had already arrived in Baden. Those who were already staying in the dormitory were busy moving their belongings to change rooms.
“Move!”
“Be careful! I’m coming down!”
After passing several students perilously carrying large belongings, Helmut reached his destination.
“3rd floor, room 301. This is it.”
The corridor was quiet. A few rooms had their doors open, but room 301’s door was firmly locked. Since he didn’t know anyone, it would be a stranger to Helmut. Normally, roommates are assigned from the same department. Helmut hoped only that his roommate was not from the swordsmanship department. Although Helmut was from the swordsmanship department, he did not want a roommate from there because when they passed by, the smell of sweat from training was noticeable. Elaga and Darien, whom he had lived with, did not have a strong body odor, so the smell of men’s sweat was particularly offensive to Helmut. It felt like an attack on his sense of smell.
‘I might end up killing my roommate because of the smell.’
It wasn’t a joke. Knock, knock. Helmut knocked on the door. Soon, rustling sounds came from inside, and the door opened. The tips of long silver hair caught his eye first.
“Who is it?”
Alea, who had opened the door with an annoyed look as if she had just woken up, widened her eyes in surprise.
“Why are you here?”
Helmut was just as taken aback. However, he calmly stated.
“Because of room assignment.”
“What? But why here?”
“3rd floor, room 301.”
Helmut pushed the letter forward. Alea snatched it as if grabbing it and her expression twisted in an instant after reading it.
“You’re assigned to this room?”
“You too, aren’t you?”
“I’ve always used this room! And this room is supposed to be a single.”
“Looks like it’s not starting today.”
Alea was particularly meticulous. Not a speck of dust was seen on her clothing. Incense seemed to be burning, as a pleasant scent wafted through the gap in the door, tickling the nose. Externally, he was the best roommate. Helmut was satisfied with the room assignment result, but Alea definitely was not.
“This doesn’t make sense!”
She slammed the door shut. Then, the sound of rustling came from inside, and the door opened again. Alea appeared, having grabbed her coat, and glared at Helmut.
“Don’t even think about entering my room! I need to see the dean for a moment!”
She locked the door in front of Helmut and disappeared down the corridor with quick steps. Left alone, Helmut looked at the key in his hand.
‘Don’t even think about entering?’
