Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 75 (Part 2 ):
Without flinching, Helmut stared at the opponent, who raised his fist. In terms of physique, he ranked at the bottom in the Swordsmanship Department. However, he possessed skills that Helmut would remember. His stance, gaze, and aura were different. This guy can probably handle Vis pretty well.
“Don’t start a fight. “I don’t want to be suspended anymore, ok?”
Asuka lowered his hand while glancing at Instructor Alan. He was the one who had started the argument and said something absurd.
‘Do I look easy?’
He couldn’t help but wonder how many times he had been challenged since he arrived in Baden. While Helmut didn’t appear docile, the students in the Swordsmanship Department, including Erun, Sabbat, and the current Asuka, naturally seemed to place him lower.
‘I Guess because I’ve been hiding my aura.’
Helmut had completely concealed his Vis inwardly. Although his gaze was sinister, he didn’t come across as an exceptionally strong opponent. Moreover, Helmut was known as a commoner, which fueled various biases and made him appear weak.
‘Shall I prove it during sparring?’
He had to consider many factors. That’s why his thoughts shifted from not causing any trouble to changing the situation even if trouble arose. A fierce feeling gradually rose within him.
Oddly, Asuka changed his expression dramatically, smiling. He extended his hand in a friendly manner and left.
“In any case, take care, my commoner friend.”
‘He doesn’t seem entirely easy to deal with.’
Whether Helmut would fare well or not, Asuka didn’t know. He was just here to watch.
After finishing his swordsmanship department class and afternoon general education class, Helmut returned to the dormitory. He unlocked the door with his key and entered, sensing someone’s presence. The curtain in the center of the room was partially drawn. Although he had initially disliked it when they first shared the room, it seemed that he was getting used to it. Alea was brushing her teeth and looked up when she saw Helmut.
“How was the first class?”
Alea asked, seemingly unable to stop himself from inquiring. The way he asked without expecting an answer… Helmut couldn’t find an appropriate response. Sometimes, Alea’s behavior stirred up unfamiliar emotions in him. Alea interpreted his lack of response differently.
“Did you get into a fight on the first day?”
“Am I giving off a fighting vibe?”
“You? Not at all.”
Alea shook her head.
“Then why…”
“Well, the guys in the swordsmanship department are generally quite muscular. They probably look down on smaller guys like you. With time, if you show your skills, the issue will be resolved. Besides, you’re in a position where you have Instructor Ethan as your patron; you can’t just fight as you please.”
But that statement was based on the premise that Helmut would endure until the time passed. Although Asuka seemed to have stopped bothering Helmut for now, the other person subtly provoked him when the instructor wasn’t watching. Blocking his way or making insulting remarks. Even insignificant things like that could become annoying if they continued.
Helmut’s solution was simple. It will make it impossible for anyone to argue with Helmut forever. Because dead people don’t speak.
After finishing brushing his teeth and rinsing his mouth, Alea spit out the water, and Helmut asked again.
“Is there any other way?”
Alea, with a stolen glance, answered.
“You could provoke them so that they attack you. It’s better if there’s an instructor around. If not, just let them hit you once. After that, even if you beat them up, they’ll consider it even. It’s better if there are multiple opponents.”
“Am I allowed to kill them?”
Alea was slightly taken aback. In fact, Alea had almost never been in a fight. Becoming someone’s enemy meant turning his followers into enemies as well. Being scorned and ridiculed by girls was mentally unbearable.
“That’s a bit much… They’re nobles, after all. No matter how much Gretta Academy promotes equality among students, do you think the nobles would just sit back if you killed one of them? It would be difficult to cover up.”
Alea looked at Helmut disapprovingly.
“You seem really angry. If you’re saying such things…”
In truth, Helmut could have been slightly irritated enough to kill someone, even if he wasn’t angry. Alea didn’t think Helmut was that type, but come to think of it, Alea had verbally sparred with Helmut quite a bit, yet he strangely didn’t feel provoked by him. It was a subtle discrimination that even Helmut couldn’t understand.
At that moment, they heard a knocking on the door. Alea frowned.
“Don’t open it. Pretend we’re not here.”
“Helmut, I saw you coming in. Please open the door. It’s Sian!”
Alea had warned not to let anyone in, but that warning had been consistently ignored when it came to Sian. He was too persistent to chase away. Helmut reluctantly opened the door, and Sian casually walked in, taking up space like he owned the place.
“Where’s Alea?”
“He hasn’t returned yet.”
Helmut decided to pretend that Alea wasn’t around. Sian didn’t press further and asked optimistically.
“Hey, how was your day? How were the academy classes?”
The swordsmanship department class was crowded and uncomfortable compared to usual training, with constant bickering. But the other general education classes weren’t bad. Helmut enjoyed the moments of learning.
“It was alright.”
“Well, if you have any questions or want to know anything, just ask me. Friend or not, I don’t mind helping out.”
Sian thought that since Helmut was unlikely to become friends with him, he might as well be the one to answer any questions. Although he wasn’t close to anyone, Sian kept himself informed about the news in the swordsmanship department. He knew that the swordsmanship department students weren’t particularly fond of this commoner transfer student.
“By the way, do you know about Asuka?”
“That crazy dog from the swordsmanship department? Yeah, I do. Didn’t I mention him before? He’s also a commoner.”
“Nobody messes with him.”
