How the Regressed Munchkin Chews Up the Tower - H.R.M.C.U.T Chapter 24 (Part 2):
“Tch.”
Yujin, having secured a lodging and washed off the blood caking his body, wiped himself dry with a towel and clicked his tongue.
“The plan’s gone a bit awry.”
Originally, he’d intended to stay in Terra until he reached Level 30. The 2nd Floor wasn’t as player-friendly as this place. There were no lodgings like this, and NPCs didn’t even exist. While the higher monster levels meant faster leveling, it wouldn’t be as comfortable as here.
“It’s just pure, untamed wilderness.”
To survive in such a place, the *slaves* would need preparation—food, tents, equipment, clothes, and other survival essentials. The problem was…
“Money.”
The Tower’s currency was, of course, 『Coins』. But their value was too great. You couldn’t use a 『Coin』 to buy a single loaf of bread, could you? And it’s not like you’d get change in 0.999 『Coins』. For everyday items like necessities, other currencies were used: Gold and Silver. These weren’t officially recognized by the Tower, but they were units of currency created by NPCs. For non-hunting NPCs living in the Tower, they were indispensable.
“Guess I’ll have to sell all the junk.”
Today’s Red Goblin waves had netted him a decent haul of miscellaneous items: crafting materials, two useless skills, and one E-grade item. Converting those to Gold should fetch a tidy sum.
“I’ll buy the necessary things with that….”
His thoughts turned to the two burdens.
‘Come to think of it, there were a few useful things for them on the 1st Floor, right?’
To Yujin, they were worth less than a single Silver. But for Ishia and Park Jihoo, it was different. They weren’t game-changing, but they’d be a big help for early survival.
“Better get those before we head up.”
Coming back down wasn’t impossible, but he didn’t have the time to waste on that.
“Phew.”
With a sigh, he rose from his seat. Did those kids even realize? That he was running himself ragged, sleepless, for their sake?
“Gonna have to work them even harder.”
Now that he thought about it, it was infuriating. All they did was kill a few monsters, and the moment they got to their rooms, they washed up and passed out. Starting tomorrow, he’d push them so hard they wouldn’t even have time to think about bathing. He made that resolve as he stepped out of the room.
“Groooar-!”
“You think so too, huh?”
Nodding at Chunbae’s cry, Yujin reached out to pat the little bear’s head. Even this bizarre creature seemed to agree, so maybe it was fine to push them a bit harder. Unbeknownst to Ishia and Park Jihoo, who were passed out like the dead, a decision that would shape their futures had just been made.
“Let’s see.”
Stepping out of the lodging, Yujin surveyed his surroundings. His first task was to leave Terra. To get the items for Ishia and Park Jihoo, he had no choice but to head out.
“Tch, I never thought I’d find two of them on the 1st Floor.”
Thanks to that, his plans were thoroughly tangled. But it was better to have found them here than to miss them entirely. The sooner he started raising them, the stronger and more resilient they’d become. That increased the odds of conquering the Tower, so there was no reason to refuse. Not that it made things any less troublesome.
“Alright, let’s go. No point slacking off.”
Grumbling, he looked toward the southern gate. To get what he needed, sell the junk, earn money, and buy supplies for the 2nd Floor before the night was over, he had to move quickly.
“Summon.”
With a quiet murmur, a horse materialized before Yujin. Mounts could be summoned and dismissed like this—a small mercy. Without this feature…
Yujin’s gaze flickered between the horse and Chunbae, his expression grim.
“Ugh, just imagining it is horrifying.”
Shuddering, Yujin mounted the horse and set off into the blackened night sky.
