How the Regressed Munchkin Chews Up the Tower - H.R.M.C.U.T Chapter 27 (Part 1):
*Clip-clop-.*
The sound of hooves stirred the morning air.
On the saddle of a horse heading toward Terra, Yujin slumped limply, unable to move a muscle.
‘Damn it, morning’s here already.’
He’d hurried as much as he could, but spotting the Lightspeed Raven had delayed him.
On top of that, his body felt like it was being torn apart, making it impossible to even wiggle a finger properly.
‘I’m screwed.’
His original plan was to have breakfast and ascend to the 2nd Floor with the slaves.
But in this state, that was out of the question.
He’d need at least a day, maybe more, to recover.
‘Low level means unexpected problems keep popping up.’
Back in his first run, after surpassing Level 100, he hadn’t even thought about side effects like this.
At that time, Yujin’s body had transcended human limits.
The pressure of a fleeting moment couldn’t harm him in the slightest.
But not now.
Even taking a single step felt like his body was being ripped to shreds.
‘Gotta hold back for a while.’
The Lightspeed Raven was fast—too fast.
To catch it in one go, even Yujin had to push himself beyond his limits.
He hadn’t expected the aftermath to hit this hard.
Until his level increased, he’d have to be cautious about using the power of 『Unity of Mind and Body [E]』.
“Uh, huh?”
A startled voice broke through.
It seemed to be one of the NPC guards stationed at the southern gate.
‘What was his name again?’
Unlike Enend at the eastern gate, with whom he had some rapport, Yujin hadn’t had much contact with the southern gate NPCs.
As a result, none of their names stuck in his memory.
“Are, are you alright?”
The guard approached cautiously, eyeing Yujin sprawled atop the horse.
Nod-.
Too tired to speak, Yujin gave a half-hearted nod, and the guard’s face turned pale.
It must’ve looked like Yujin was in critical condition.
“Sh-should I call a healer?”
Shake-shake-.
Yujin shook his head.
He wasn’t in great shape, but it wasn’t bad enough to need treatment.
A bit of rest would do the trick.
The guard, looking puzzled, stepped aside to clear the path.
Having seen Yujin leave last night, he didn’t bother with identity checks.
As the path opened, the horse naturally passed through the southern gate into Terra.
‘It’s not like it’s Kim Yushin’s horse….’ [T/N: Kim Yushin was a famous general from Korea’s Silla Dynasty, known for his legendary and loyal warhorse.]
Snicker-.
Remarkably, the horse Tailon had given him remembered the route perfectly.
It even seemed to sense Yujin’s intent to return, heading straight to the lodge without a hint of hesitation.
‘He gave me a good one.’
Yujin almost felt bad for having robbed him.
If he’d known it was this good, he might’ve only taken one 『Coin』.
With that small pang of regret, the horse stopped in front of the lodge.
[Starlight Wayfarer].
It was one of the many ordinary inns in Terra.
Neither luxurious nor shabby—just average.
Yujin had chosen it for one reason.
The food was decent.
Though he wouldn’t stay long, he still wanted to eat well, so he picked [Starlight Wayfarer].
It was a place he’d frequented in his first run.
“Hey? Player fella?”
The innkeeper, who’d come out to sweep the front, spotted Yujin and widened his eyes.
“You, you alright?”
Dried blood caked around his mouth, body slumped lifelessly.
Anyone could see he was the picture of a wounded warrior.
“Just… take me….”
Yujin barely managed to speak, and the innkeeper set down his broom to lift him.
“Should I take you to the room you rented?”
Nod-.
That’d be enough.
“Dear me. In all my years, I’ve never seen a player come back half-dead on a horse this early.”
And no wonder.
The Tower of Light had only accepted players a day ago.
Most were still holed up in Terra, clueless about what to do.
But to go hunting all night, return injured, and on a horse?
The gap between Yujin and ordinary players was stark.
“The folks you came with yesterday are still sleeping. Should I wake ‘em?”
Ishia and Park Jihoo were apparently still out cold.
‘Bastards. I’m out here busting my ass all night.’
It was odd.
He’d planned to work those two hard, make them pull their weight.
Yet here he was, the one getting worked to the bone.
Something was going wrong, but thinking about it was too much effort.
Yujin waved a hand at the innkeeper, collapsed onto the bed, and closed his eyes.
“Ahem, looks like you’re gonna sleep. I’ll mark you down for another day’s stay, then.”
Whatever.
Yujin didn’t bother replying and let consciousness slip away.
