HXH: Noah's Heart - HXH: NH Chapter 42: Intruder X Insta-Kill
Noah stepped forward and retrieved a short knife from the unconscious Kif, standing before the electronic door.
Nen flowed along his wrist, completely enveloping the knife in his hand. Then, he slashed the thick alloy electronic door effortlessly with the short knife in his hand.
This was one of the applications of Nen, an advanced application of Ten called Shu. It strengthened objects by wrapping them in Nen.
With the enhancement of Nen, the seemingly ordinary short knife in Noah’s hand became as sharp as cutting through butter.
Behind the electronic door was a wide, well-lit corridor with rooms lining both sides. Inside, lab-coated researchers were busy working.
At the end of the corridor stood a massive white room, and at the entrance to the white room, there was a table.
A man in a checkered shirt and a blonde woman holding a cigarette sat next to the table.
At the moment the electronic door was breached, both of them turned their gaze towards it.
“Intruder?” The man in the checkered shirt raised an eyebrow in surprise.
An intruder here? Wasn’t Betero outside? And there were guards. Why didn’t they sound the alarm?
It was no wonder he was surprised. In his understanding, the possibility of intruders here was close to zero.
Not to mention how difficult it was to find the entrance to this underground lab, even without dealing with the six guards outside the elevator and entrance.
Indeed, as he thought, if not for Betero’s oversight, Noah wouldn’t have found the entrance to this underground lab even after searching the small building for a day.
“The kid is just like us, don’t be careless.” The woman with the cigarette casually tossed it to the ground and stomped it out with her foot, then stood up and said.
Although Betero and the other experimental subjects had awakened Nen abilities, no one had taught them how to use them.
They didn’t even understand the specific concept of Nen. And because excessive use of Nen could lead to a mental breakdown, their use of Nen abilities was not very good.
But even so, they could sense a similar aura coming from Noah.
“Is he also an experimental subject?” Hearing the woman’s words, the man in the checkered shirt scratched his head in confusion.
“You idiot, he looks like an intruder no matter how you look at it.”
After muttering, the blonde woman turned and slapped her hand on a red button on the wall nearby.
A piercing alarm immediately sounded, and the researchers in the rooms on both sides of the corridor were awakened from their work, noticing Noah standing in front of the electronic door.
“Intruder?”
“How did he get in?”
“Should we evacuate first?”
There was some minor chaos in the rooms as Noah’s appearance was completely unexpected for them.
“That kid isn’t necessarily smarter than me; he just walked in so brazenly. He really underestimates us.” Despite being called an idiot, the man in the checkered shirt wasn’t angry, as it seemed he was used to it.
“Turn off the alarm, and leave this guy to me. I’ve recently figured out some ways to use this power.” He slowly stood up, saying this as he approached Noah.
Giving him a dissatisfied glance, the blonde woman pressed a button on the wall to stop the blaring alarm, then sat back down on her chair, saying in an irritated tone, “Do as you please.”
“Don’t panic, everyone, continue with your work,” waving his hands on both sides, the man in the checkered shirt signaled to the researchers in the room not to be alarmed. He walked towards Noah with a cat-and-mouse-like attitude and a smirk.
“Kid, I have to say, you’ve come at the right time. I’ve been bored to death sitting here every day. Don’t worry; I won’t let you die easily.” Cracking his joints, the man in the checkered shirt grinned as he approached Noah.
“Oh, is that so? It’s truly a terrifying prospect,” Noah replied expressionlessly.
At the same time, the door to the white room was opened, and a dark-skinned, muscular man walked out from inside. His first glance fell on the blonde woman sitting by the door, and he asked, “Eve, what’s going on? Why did you activate the alarm?”
“Eh.” The blonde woman tilted her head toward the man in the checkered shirt, indicating for the dark-skinned man to look that way.
The dark-skinned man turned his head in the direction indicated by Eve and saw the checkered-shirted man and Noah standing opposite each other.
“Intruders? How did they get in? What about Betero?” His pupils constricted as the dark-skinned man asked Eve.
Shrugging her shoulders, Eve said helplessly, “I don’t know. He’s probably off slacking somewhere again. That guy is naturally timid; he was probably terrified when he saw Rami in that state.”
“That jerk, I’ll have to teach him a lesson later,” the dark-skinned man said angrily.
Both of them, including the checkered-shirted man, believed unanimously that Noah had slipped in while Betero was slacking off, but they had no idea how far from the truth they were.
“Since it’s not a big deal, you two deal with this kid, then bring Betero back. I need to help Dr. White analyze Rami’s condition.” After another glance in Noah’s direction, the dark-skinned man prepared to turn back into the white room.
“Understood, understood.”
“Ah, ahhhh!”
Just as Eve gave a perfunctory reply to the dark-skinned man, a chaotic scream suddenly reached their ears from the front.
What’s going on?
Both of them instinctively looked ahead, and then they witnessed an unforgettable scene.
Bright red covered the ground, and a headless body wearing a checkered shirt lay silently at Noah’s feet. Researchers from the rooms on both sides screamed in fear.
“Just as I suspected, although all of you awakened Nen abilities, your use of Nen is still very raw.” Noah looked down at the body on the ground, speaking with indifference.
Rolling back time a bit, while Eve and the dark-skinned man were conversing with each other, Noah launched an attack on the checkered-shirted man in front of him.
His figure flashed, and he appeared in front of him. While the checkered-shirted man was still immersed in thoughts of how to torture Noah, Noah’s claw swiped over his head.
With the sharpness of a blade and the enhancement of Nen, one strike shattered the checkered-shirted man’s head, as if it were an exploding watermelon.
After observing Rami and Betero, Noah had already formed a rough judgment about these experimental subjects in his mind. Although their aura initially seemed similar to his, in reality, they had no idea how to use Nen, not even the most basic principles.
Their strength was even weaker than Noah’s own when he fought Cain, the fighter from the Heaven’s Arena!
