“Here, have another.”

He quickly pulled out another mana stone and brought it to the mana port.

Ssshh—

“Oh, you eat so well. Just one more bite.”

Ssshh—

「Mana: 8」

Now he had eight shots!

Lee Hyun looked at his brilliant rifle with a satisfied grin and nodded.

He decided to feed it just three stones.

‘The other three… I might need to sell them later.’

Right now there was no need, but what if someone later accused him of possessing too many mana stones?

Not that it’d be a false accusation in his case, but still.

Since no one else knew about the S+ bonus, keeping only the standard reward amount visible could prevent trouble.

“Well then, should I ride the momentum and distribute my stats?”

Lee Hyun opened his status window and pondered how to allocate his 15 points.

There was one stat he would absolutely invest in.

Firepower?

‘Nope.’

「Mana: 13」

It was mana.

Even though he had fed it three mana stones, mana remained the top priority.

Even on the 1st Floor, he had to use all his personal mana to take down every monster.

Stronger monsters might come later—he needed to over-invest in ammunition while he could.

Unless a way to recharge mana emerged.

‘Firepower’s already plenty.’

He had already obliterated the Goblin Warrior, known for its durability among goblins.

「Precision: 2 → 3
Stability: 2 → 4
Stealth: 0 → 2」

Lee Hyun allocated five more points.

Range was still sufficient.

Sniping distance on the 1st Floor was about 300 meters.

To Lee Hyun, that was practically point-blank.

It’d probably stay similar for a while.

‘Besides, what matters more than range is precision within that range.’

That’s why he heavily invested in Precision and Stability.

Of course, even without stat bonuses, he was confident in hitting a monster’s eye within 800 meters.

But unlike in the army, where he had support, now Lee Hyun had to do everything alone.

He had to prioritize safety.

Giving two points to Stealth was part of that mindset.

As firepower increased, so did noise—so stealth was essential.

He had five points left.

‘Let’s keep them on hold for now.’

He closed the status window without spending them.

He planned to hold them in reserve for any future need—be it more firepower or rapid-fire.

And even just spending 10 out of 15 points already made him significantly stronger.

Compared to most Hunters, who might get five points at best, Lee Hyun had already surpassed them.

Even with basic math, he was at a stat total equivalent to Level 5.

Feeling proud, Lee Hyun picked up his rifle and stood.

First floor clear: a massive success.

No—more than that, an achievement.

“Gotta go back in tomorrow~”

Humming, Lee Hyun turned to head home.

Then he looked at the large sniper rifle in his hand—and hurried off.

Rather than openly putting it into his inventory in the middle of the street, it seemed better to pretend it was a toy gun.

From now on, he’d have to handle such things inside the Tower before coming out.

“…Should I paint the muzzle orange or something?”

And unbeknownst to him, there were people watching.

Could it be? A shadowy organization that had discovered Lee Hyun’s secret?

“Yo, that guy’s nuts.”

“Right? Who the hell walks around mumbling to himself with a toy gun?”

“Jeez, it’s too creepy to even smoke here. Let’s get out of here. Avoiding weirdos is best.”

“Dude’s ripped as hell, too… Let’s go find somewhere else. Ugh, where are students even supposed to smoke these days?”

It was a shadowy group—

Delinquent students who had skipped school and come to smoke, only to stumble upon Lee Hyun leaving the Tower!

These punks were absurdly brazen despite trying to sneak a smoke.

“I’m home!”

“You’re back already? Where’d you go?”

“Nowhere!”

Back at home, Lee Hyun dashed straight to his room.

And witnessed a truly shocking sight.

「Private Messages: 1,853
Please check your private chatroom.」

“…What even is all this?”

An overwhelming flood of messages addressed to the ID “One Shot.”

Even the previews were dizzying.

「Doruru: Hello, I’ve heard of your incredible achievement today, and…

Bongsbong: We humbly claim to be Korea’s top guild, Daejin Guild, and…」

The content was even more exhausting.

He had just cleared the floor—how were they already reacting this fast?

‘Well, I guess it did get a global announcement.’

After a moment of thought, Lee Hyun said:

“Block all.”

「Private messages blocked.
Notifications will no longer appear.」

It wasn’t a true block—he’d still receive messages, but notifications were turned off.

That was good enough.

He might use the feature later.

“Much better now.”

Lee Hyun nodded.

For a sniper, stealth was life.

Private messages were a luxury.

**
Republic of Korea, Executive Branch — Tower Safety Management Department.

Commonly known as the Tower Administration Bureau (탑안부).

It held powerful authority over the management of towers and hunters. Beneath it existed a dedicated sub-agency known as the Hunter Management Office (헌터관리청).

Suddenly, both the Tower Administration Bureau and the Hunter Management Office were thrown into chaos.

「The 1st Floor clear record has been updated.
Location: Republic of Korea Tower.
ID: One Shot (일격)
Grade: S+」

The cause: a surprise system-wide announcement.

Even if this had occurred in a foreign nation, it would’ve been enough to put intel teams on emergency standby.

But the announcement had clearly stated “Republic of Korea Tower.”

To make matters worse, it revealed the emergence of a new grade, awarded only on first attempts — S+.

In the Hunter Talent Scouting Division, part of the Hunter Management Office, Section Chief Baek Sung-yoon immediately summoned his subordinates.

“Who is it?”

“…Sir?”

At Sung-yoon’s abrupt question, the employees blinked in confusion.

“Who” — it was clear what he meant.

Obviously, he was referring to the hunter with the ID ‘One Shot’.

But…

‘If I knew that, would I still be a civil servant…?’

It was an unanswerable question.

The staff exchanged pained glances.

Public perception of government jobs among the younger generation was already bad enough.

Should we just slam our resignations in his face?

Then Sung-yoon let out a deep sigh and showed them his phone.

Director: Who is it?

Commissioner: Who is it?

Vice Minister: Who is it?

Minister: Who is it?

Presidential Secretary: Who is it?

Chief of Staff to VIP: Who is it? The VIP asked. Hurry.

A live demonstration of the vertical grilling chain of command.

Only then did the junior staff let out sympathetic sighs of their own.

“…Ah.”

Turns out, even their boss had bosses breathing down his neck.

Other section chiefs were likely receiving the same barrage.

A rare sight followed: the entire Talent Scouting Division exhaled in unison.

“It’s probably not someone already on the government roster, right?”

“Of course not, sir.”

Clear notifications were only sent when a new record was set by a first-time clear.

No matter how many times a hunter retried with better results later, no announcement was made.

The system itself had explicitly stated: S+ was granted only on the first try.

And more importantly—the ID wasn’t tied to anyone known.

A completely new name.

Sung-yoon muttered with a tired expression.

“Yeah… which means we’re the ones who’ll get the worst of it, right?”

“Pretty much, sir…”

Everyone’s mood darkened.

They were the Talent Scouting Division.

The perfect scapegoat.

“Contact all regional branches. If anyone registers newly and sells F-rank mana stones, report it immediately. This is urgent! Right now!”

“Yes, sir!”

Usually mellow, Sung-yoon now issued a sharp, frosty command. The employees instantly scattered to their desks and began pounding on keyboards.

Typically, newly awakened Hunters either registered within the day or cleared just the 1st Floor before registering.

That was how one entered the official Hunter system.

In other words, now was golden time.

As notifications were sent to the regional offices, hushed whispers broke out among the staff.

“How strong must they be?”

“Right… even the superhumans only got S. Could they be ex–Special Forces?”

“Come on. If every Special Forces soldier could do that, the towers would’ve been cleared long ago.”

“Well, true…”

Special Forces backgrounds were indeed advantageous—but only up to about C or B-rank.

Beyond that, things depended on innate traits and potential—the initial stat distribution.

The staff continued murmuring amongst themselves.

They’d heard that even an S-clear required perfection.

But S+?

What kind of freak had managed that?

Despite the seriousness of their work, faint hope and excitement bloomed on their faces.

Whoever they were, this mysterious “One Shot” could mark a major turning point in Korea’s tower strategy.

Of course, there was a variable…

“Don’t tell me… they’ll become a villain?”

“Sir! That’s bad luck to say!”

The worst-case scenario—becoming a villain: one who rejects national oversight and operates in the criminal underworld.

Considering the superhuman powers Hunters possessed, such criminals could only be stopped by other Hunters.

And villains rarely cared about tower conquest, making them even more problematic.

“Exactly. Compared to a lunatic wandering around with a rifle, those guys are on a whole different level of danger.”

Sung-yoon also scolded the subordinate who had brought up that grim possibility.

Still, they had already sent instructions to track new Hunter registrations and mana stone trade.

Results would come soon.

…Or so they thought.

But by the end of that day—and the next—

“…Still no one’s come in?”

“No, sir. Some new registrants… but none cashing out 1st Floor mana stones.”

“Why aren’t they settling rewards?”

“Maybe they’re rich?”

“Maybe they are a vill—”

“Enough, sir!”

Sung-yoon mulled it over for a moment and then sighed.

“Fine. At least compile a list of new registrants for now.”

“Yes, sir.”

A poor substitute, but the only lead they had.

Call it a chicken in place of a pheasant.

At least a chicken was edible. This felt like chewing cardboard.
