After the world’s first announcement of One Shot’s S+ grade, Korea was thrown into chaos.

No—not just Korea, but the entire world was in an uproar.

[ China shaken, Japan enraged — identity of Korean Hunter still a mystery?
U.S. President shocked: “Find that Korean immediately!”
Exclusive: Who is the real One Shot? ]

Every channel on HunterNow was plastered with videos about One Shot.

It was a site used freely not only by Hunters, but also by the general public, so the view count was, to put it mildly, explosive.

Even foreigners who usually stayed in their own communities swarmed in, crashing the servers for maintenance.

Most videos were clickbait dressed up in sensational titles, but no one cared.

[ nicolas case : Does Korea possess a goat?
李長東 : One Shot is Chinese!
└ㅇㅇ : How did you even get in here;;
SERGIO : I’m really jealous. S+ is amazing! ]

Comments, presumably from foreigners, surged by the second.

The One Shot syndrome had also taken over social media.

[ lololol there’s an S+ above S now
Who even came up with this?
└ fr fr, feels like a mobile game;;
└ Korea’s best record was S, right?
└ Nah, that was the world record. Lots of S ranks, but
└ Why’s everyone freaking out over clearing the first floor? Can’t sleep ‘cause of One Shot or whatever
└ Did anyone force you to watch One Shot’s news?
└ Wasn’t that the first-ever perfect clear of Floor 1? Reading comprehension down these days… how’s our country gonna keep up?
└ chill chill, One Shot will carry us to S+
└ lol agreed, gotta bench the guy to let Korea be S+ ]

Everything was overwhelmingly positive about One Shot. Any criticism was either dismissed as trolling—or drowned out by even harsher responses.

The world’s attention centered on who “One Shot” really was and what kind of Trait he had.

There was no way it was a common Trait like most Hunters had.

It had to be a never-before-seen, one-of-a-kind Trait.

And not just that.

His level-up stat gain—often considered a measure of raw talent—was surely over 10 per level, the highest tier possible.

The public was already hailing him as the new and greatest superhuman of all time.

With this much global frenzy, you’d think the man behind it would let his presence be known out of pride.

But One Shot had left no trace, maintaining complete anonymity.

Apparently, he had blocked all personal messages the moment the announcement went out…

Meanwhile, the man the world was so desperate to find—Lee Hyun—was completely unaware of the internet wildfire.

Or rather, to be exact, he had an idea after seeing the announcement and message count.

But he didn’t bother to look into it.

Why disturb your peace?

Snipers are always hunted by their enemies. It was only natural they’d try to pinpoint his location.

No reason to stress over it.

“All I need to focus on right now is getting stronger.”

With that mindset, Hyun left the house.

Though he’d breezed through the first floor, it wouldn’t be like that forever.

If he wanted to legally operate as a Hunter and generate income, he’d have to register.

In the modern world, mana stones and monster by-products were classified as strategic materials.

If someone sold them without Hunter registration, they’d immediately be investigated.

Sure, there were under-the-table ways to sell—but the cut and the risk weren’t worth it.

“What am I, a criminal? No need to sneak around.”

As a former soldier, Hyun’s sense of duty wouldn’t allow such behavior.

Besides, Hunter registration didn’t pose much risk of revealing his identity.

The registration didn’t ask for sensitive personal information.

And the Tower Administration Bureau and Hunter Management Office were highly secure. They didn’t leak data to anyone.

There was good reason for that.

Think about it—what if a super-talented Hunter had their data leaked and got recruited overseas?

Who would take responsibility?

To avoid this, they didn’t even ask for info that could identify someone.

You didn’t need to worry about being drafted into the Ministry of Defense the moment you registered.

As long as no one found out that Lee Hyun = One Shot, everything was fine.

Hyun opened the door to the local Hunter Management Office.

Inside, only a few civil servants and a handful of Hunters selling mana stones. The mood was quiet.

He walked up to the ticket machine, which showed three categories: “New Registration,” “Mana Stone Settlement,” and “Other Requests.”

There was no wait for new registrations.

Naturally—Awakenings weren’t exactly everyday events.

As soon as he took his ticket, his number was called.

“What brings you in today?”
A bored civil servant asked in a flat voice.

‘Didn’t I literally press ‘New Registration’? Isn’t it obvious?’

Hyun found it a little odd but quickly understood.

He himself had been a government worker until recently.

Even soldiers—rarely dealing with civilians—ran into enough oddball complaints on duty.

And eventually, you just stopped expecting much from people.

“New registration.”

“Oh. Please fill out the form at the front.”

The official never took their eyes off the monitor.

Hyun filled it out quickly.

Name, date of birth, address, bank account for payment, and several consent forms for data use.

There were fields for Trait and ID, but they were optional.

Naturally, he left them blank.

“All done.”

“Can I see your ID?”

Still staring at the screen, the civil servant held out their hand.

After a moment, they pulled out a sizable object from under the desk.

Clunk—

For Hunter registration, there’s a process called inventory verification.

“This stone—just place it into your inventory, and that’s it.”

A literal “useless rock” — an actual item registered in the system. Useless, but perfect for checking inventory access.

It also prevented fraud—fake Hunters pretending to be Awakened.

No need for suspicion or awkwardness.

Slide—

Hyun easily stored the stone in his inventory.

‘Thank you, rifle!’

Who would’ve thought his tears-stained weapon would turn out to be so helpful?

He made a silent vow to keep feeding his sniper rifle all future mana stones.

After confirming the inventory, he returned the stone to the official.

“All set?”

“Yes, verified.”

At last, the civil servant turned to check Hyun’s face against the ID.

‘Finally, you look at me.’

His mouth itched to say something.

If not for the harsh training he’d undergone as a sniper, he might’ve let his identity slip just now.

If only the clerk knew the person in front of them was One Shot, they’d probably lose their mind.

Stamping the paperwork, the official spoke flatly.

“You’re F-rank from level 1 to 29. Once you hit level 30, you can reissue as E-rank. Safety is the priority.”

“Yes.”
