I Got A Legendary Sniper Rifle - GLSR Chapter 8 (Part 2)
The next day, Hyun cleared the 6th Floor with another S+, but didn’t crack a smile.
The rewards this time: a level-up and six F-rank Magic Stones.
The S+ bonus? Also six Magic Stones—same rank.
He distributed 10 stat points across Firepower, Precision, Stability, and Stealth, left the Stones untouched, and began analyzing the floor quietly.
‘Too easy—that’s the problem.’
On the 6th Floor, he had to defeat a detachment of ten Goblin Warriors.
Honestly, he had expected it to be easy.
He’d one-shot the Warlord; regular Warriors were nothing in comparison.
So his real goal was to test the Stealth Cloak he had obtained last time.
But—
“I just walked around with the cloak on and they didn’t notice.”
The cloak’s effectiveness was so high that even walking around openly didn’t alert the warriors.
But maybe that was to be expected.
Unless you had an archer who could track scents carried on the wind, goblin warriors weren’t particularly sharp.
Come to think of it, hadn’t he evaded their eyes just by crawling, even without any Stealth stats?
Of course, relying solely on the cloak to approach enemies would be suicidal for a sniper.
His Rapid Fire stat was only good enough to help with shot intervals—not enough to turn the rifle into an assault weapon.
And attacking broke stealth, so he had to settle for what he got.
Still, it wasn’t without benefit.
On the first shot taken while cloaked—
Thunk—!
The noise was visibly reduced.
Even the muzzle flash was diminished.
So in terms of stealth, the cloak proved very effective.
The Goblin Warriors dropped one by one, unable to tell where or what was hitting them.
“Still… I kinda wish we’d had another situation like last time.”
Hyun clicked his tongue with regret.
That blazing sniper duel with the Goblin Warlord…
A foe who had sensed his position even without sound or wind.
If he could face that thing again, he’d get a real sense of how much better the cloak and Stealth had made him.
Only one solution.
“I’ll just go back in.”
Re-challenge of the 5th Floor.
He had time to kill, so why not?
If he got home early again, Minjeong would probably say, “Hyun, couldn’t you become a Hunter like One Shot?”
Mother… your son is One Shot!
Unless he said that, there was no helping it.
「Would you like to re-enter Floor 5 of Korea’s Main Tower?」
Hyun stepped outside and headed straight into the 5th Floor again.
「You are re-entering.
Clear rewards will not be granted.」
「Second entry today.
Byproduct collection in the Tower is restricted.」
With the usual notices, Hyun found himself once more on the hilltop overlooking the goblin campsite.
Naturally, he was wearing the Stealth Cloak.
He positioned himself at the same sniping point he had used during his first clear of the floor and waited for the Warlord.
Sure enough, after waiting just as long, the massive Warlord appeared from the tent.
Once again, goblins cheered as it walked.
‘Last time, this is where he noticed me…’
Hyun, admittedly tense, observed the Warlord.
The Stealth Cloak’s effect was beyond doubt.
But the Warlord’s senses were just as exceptional.
“……”
Nervously, Hyun gulped.
“……”
He also twitched a finger for no reason.
Whoooosh—
‘Ah, damn it.’
Suddenly, the wind shifted—blowing from Hyun’s position toward the camp.
This could get him caught.
Thinking he was busted, Hyun placed his finger on the trigger.
If the Warlord showed even a hint of awareness, he’d fire instantly.
“……”
But then—
“……?”
Unexpectedly, despite the breeze, the Warlord casually strolled around the camp, and then—
Thud—
Flopped down in the largest open space and began taking a nap.
“Um.”
Hyun paused for a moment.
‘Isn’t this item kinda broken?’
He’d had to struggle so hard to kill that thing yesterday—he never imagined it would become this easy.
Now he knew for sure.
The Stealth Cloak was incredible.
BANG—!
Hyun pulled the trigger.
「Goblin Warlord defeated.
You have cleared Floor 5.」
He exited the Tower again.
Feeling the crisp outdoor air, Hyun muttered to himself:
“Don’t tell me the 5th Floor gives out rewards like this every time? That’d be nuts.”
The important part was that the Stealth Cloak was only a 5th Floor reward.
There would definitely be even better loot ahead.
“…Huh? Wait.”
As he fiddled with the cloak, a thought struck him.
Swish—
Hyun threw the cloak over his shoulders.
A message popped up.
「Item ‘Stealth Cloak’ can only be worn outside the Tower as a cosmetic.
However, it will function in recognized special conditions (e.g., Gates).」
“Hmph… that’s a shame.”
He had hoped, but of course—it didn’t work.
Not sure why that disappointed him, but—
‘Still, good to know it’ll activate when fighting outside.’
He didn’t mind too much.
Even now, the cloak offered tremendous value.
In a good mood, and wanting to get used to the cloak, Hyun started doing calisthenics, PT drills, and a round of strength exercises.
He had done these every day in the military, but had slacked off since discharge.
For a sniper, stamina is everything.
One wrong shot could be fatal—but without stamina, you couldn’t even take the shot.
“Whew, moving my body after a while feels great.”
Even if the gun shared some of its stats with him, nothing beat real physical training.
Feeling refreshed, Hyun began jogging back home.
“Ugh, that lunatic’s at it again.”
“Where the hell did he get a cloak like that?”
“This damn world’s gone to hell. Can’t even smoke in peace. Ptooey!”
…And so, the local delinquent teens, who happened to witness a man in a cloak working out, swore once again never to come back here.
Not that students should be smoking in the first place—but they were rotten enough not to care.
