“The hell kind of bullshit is that? ‘None of your business’?”

Lee Jun-ho suddenly blocked my path, his face twisted in anger. He looked ready to grab my collar, but this glare was familiar. Not intimidating. Almost cute.

He still had a boyish edge.

“…….”

I stared back silently. His pupils flickered faintly.

Then I spoke.

“…It means you’re sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong.”

To be fair, Lee Jun-ho isn’t exactly normal either. A destruction maniac, or perhaps a homicidal maniac, with darkness lurking inside. Despite debuting in 2nd place, he spends his free time wandering mercenary streets seeking amusement until he was taken out by Black Call.

He’s hollow in some way.

In a sense, he’s like me.

“Move.”

“…….”

He stepped aside. I thought he’d leave, but he entered a stall instead. Guess he’d been holding it in too.

“Hey. No toilet paper in there.”

—…….

No response. He didn’t come out. Couldn’t, probably. Already busy.

“Want me to get you some?”

—…….

“Guess not. Later.”

—W-Wait, get me some!

I smirked and walked out.

—Where are you going?!

His desperate voice trailed after me.

I shot back.

“To get toilet paper, obviously.”

—…Oh.

* * *

Back in my quarters, I collapsed onto the bed. Exhausted, but today was the airing of Labyrinth Exploration NaN’s second episode.

I should at least watch the premiere.

Well, it’s not the premiere—it’s episode two.

[ Labyrinth Exploration NaN ]

The opening for episode two just finished.

“Looks like the Level Test was in episode 1.”

The early segment showed contestants exploring their lodgements post-test.

─Seo Ji-woo: Wow, it’s huge!

Seo Ji-woo marveled at her quarters. Seriously, why is it that big? It’s like five times the size of mine.

The footage breezed through other contestants’ daily routines.

“Oh, that’s me.”

Seol Ha-woon, in the NaN uniform, walked along a path. Limping, leaning on a cane.

“…What’s up with the camera saturation?”

The visuals were gloomy, as if a bleak filter had been applied. Aside from the cane’s *tap-tap*, there was no sound. I’m pretty sure I muttered to myself a lot.

I opened the live chat on my phone.

– Is that Seol Ha-woon guy the UDT one?
– Something about his vibe feels off compared to everyone else

“No sh*t, Sherlock.”

Still, my screen time was more than I’d expected. The scene shifted to a library, where Seol Ha-woon was studying a spell book. Someone approached.

Yu-yul.

—Yu-yul: Studying, huh? Everyone else is either resting or chatting at the café. Why are you alone?

After some small talk, she sat beside him.

—Yu-yul: Well then. While everyone else is playing around, let me give you some personal tutoring as your mentor

Most of the conversation was edited out, cutting straight to the point.

—Yu-yul: First, try mana breathing.
—Seol Ha-woon: Mana Breathing…
—Yu-yul: Yes. Try it.
—Seol Ha-woon: …I don’t know how.
—Yu-yul: …You don’t know?

Yu-yul frowned at Ha-woon, who hadn’t even heard of Mana Breathing.

—Yu-yul: Nonsense. Then how did you open your circuits?
—Seol Ha-woon: I just…
—Yu-yul: Just?
—Seol Ha-woon: I just did it, and it worked.

Then, Yu-yul’s narration was mixed in.

—Without Mana Breathing, circuits shouldn’t unlock naturally.

Cut to an interview.

A pitch-black room. Yu-yul sat in a chair, explaining.

—But Seol Ha-woon’s circuits were already open. Quite a lot of them, too.
—Is that rare?
—Extremely. That’s why I questioned him.

Back to the library.

Yu-yul pressed further.

—Yu-yul: How many months has it been?
—Seol Ha-woon: Three… and a half? Almost four months.

I glanced at the live chat.

—3 months? That’s possible?
—Cap. I go to magic school—even with talent, it takes at least a year.
—That soldier concept is weirdly set up.
—UDT has mage training? LMAO. He definitely learned there and is cosplaying as a genius.
—Seriously tho why are they giving the deadlast guy so much screen time? Is this a joke? Screen-time hog

At least I’d said four months. If I’d claimed one, they’d have called me a pathological liar.

“Ugh. Move on already.”

Being called a screen-time hog made me self-conscious.

Thankfully, the training montage with Yu-yul was entirely cut, jumping straight to the contestants’ daily lives.

Zhao Yun and Lee Jun-ho sparred again. Kang Hyun trained with mana weights. Ryu Yeon-hwa and Seo Ji-woo studied spells. Lim Hae-jun practiced archery.

The days flew by.

—Yoo Ji-in: Nice to see you all. I hope you’ve all rested well?

Next mission: Cargo Labyrinth.

Things were about to get interesting.

—Yoo Ji-in: First, the participants whose names appear on the screen above, please step onto the platforms.

[ Lee Jun-ho, Seo Ji-woo, Ryu Yeon-hwa, Kang Hyun, Kate, Zhao Yun… ]

The top 12 from the Level Test assembled onstage as Yoo Ji-in explained the Team Draft.

—Yoo Ji-in: Now, each of you will need to select three team members.

The reactions of other explorers were highlighted. My face got a brief close-up too.

—Lee Jun-ho: I’ll pick B-tier, 24th place, Mage Kim Woo-hyuk.

An unexpected first pick from #1 Lee Jun-ho, but the live chat barely reacted.

—Jun-ho does what he wants.
—He just needs a support.
—Could’ve gone solo. His combat’s top-tier.
—Kim Woo-hyuk’s a buffer. Fits Jun-ho.

—Seo Ji-woo: A-tier, Warrior Kim Dong-ha.
—Kang Hyun: I’ll pick A-tier Mage Yoon Hwa-rim.

First, the ‘gold spoon’ A-teams were completed, and next it was the ‘dirt spoon’ B-teams’ turn.

—Lim Hae-jun: I’ll pick 96th place. Mage Seol Ha-woon.

At the very end, Lim Hae-jun chose me.

Only because I was the last mage left.

—Yoo Ji-in: Now, I’ll reveal the mission.

—Cargo mission?
—Yeah, the stills hinted at it.
—LMAO this’ll be good.

Everyone seemed to have guessed it. Fair enough—cargo labyrinths are the most mainstream.

—Yoo Ji-in: It’s Cargo Escort. This mission is a collaborative one between Team A and Team B.

Yoo Ji-in announced the collaboration, followed by alliance team drafting—though it was uneventful.

—Ji Woon-yul (A12 Leader): I’ll choose Team B1.

A12 paired with B1, A11 with B2, A10 with B3, and so on—until:

—Kang Hyun (A4 Leader): Team A4 will choose Team B12.

Only Kang Hyun’s final pick drew confusion.

– ?
– ?
– ??
– Why’d Kang Hyun pick B12??
– What’s going on?
– In places like a cargo labyrinth, mages are usually the most important. A team with a mage ranked 96th is way more disadvantaged than having a low-ranked warrior or martial artist. So it’s weird. Why’d Kang Hyun pick B12? Especially since that 96th-place mage is a cripple with terrible mobility.
– Essay guy, did you rent out the chat?

“Just watch.”

I chuckled, leaning back. I’d performed well in this Cargo Labyrinth.

Whether in screen time or actual feats.

“Heh heh heh.”
