The Lord Who Levels Up by Devouring - LLD Chapter 72: Infinite Inventory (Part 1)
A translucent message appeared:
The storage weight limit of the Inventory has changed.
To ‘∞kg’.
‘…Is this real?’
Honestly, it was hard to believe.
Of course, the translucent messages had never lied to me before, but still—
‘Even so, this is absurd.’
∞kg? That’s just nonsense.
To reproduce even a limited subspace spell with infinite storage capacity using magic, the amount of Mana Force required would be immeasurable.
No, I actually know the answer.
It would require infinite mana.
But who can possibly wield infinite mana?
That’s why even an Archmage—or Ian himself—couldn’t use a truly infinite subspace.
In hindsight, what Ian used wasn’t subspace but an Inventory, yet still.
‘Should I give it a try?’
A sack stuffed with gold coins, taller than I was.
By rough estimate, it had to weigh several thousand kilograms.
But as I lightly stretched out my hand—
◆ Stored ‘Sack of Gold Coins’ in Inventory.
It went into the Inventory with no resistance whatsoever.
When I reached out to the sack beside it—fwoosh!
◆ Stored ‘Sack of Gold Coins’ in Inventory.
This one went in just as easily.
Then the next sack, and the one after that.
My Inventory weight limit based on my Strength stat had long since been exceeded, but—
◆ Stored ‘Sack of Gold Coins’ in Inventory.
◆ Stored ‘Sack of Gold Coins’ in Inventory.
◆ Stored ‘Sack of Gold Coins’ in Inventory.
.
.
.
They kept entering the Inventory.
‘It’s real.’
The Inventory’s weight limit had truly changed to ∞kg.
With this, as long as I satisfied the storage conditions, I could store anything—no matter what it was—inside my Inventory.
And the conditions for storage were twofold:
It had to be a ‘thing’.
And it had to be ‘owned by me’.
If, hypothetically, an entire continent qualified as a ‘thing’ and I somehow owned it—
That meant even a continent could be stored in my Inventory.
So I added not only the sacks of gold coins but all the loose coins and jewels I hadn’t yet packed—
“……!!!!”
I could see Kai’s face, his eyes stretched wide as if they might tear.
Not just wide-eyed, but his eyes almost fell off. His blue pupils trembled.
Well, it made sense. He’d just seen tens of thousands of kilograms worth of gold vanish before his eyes.
“Magic…?!”
I couldn’t use mana—my Mana Sensitivity was basically zero.
“Were the soldiers telling the truth…?”
I had no idea what the soldiers had said about me—
But still.
“Looks like they were right.”
Even I was shocked.
I knew the messages wouldn’t lie, but seeing it happen for real was still unbelievable.
No wonder it was a power held by the Monarch of the Abyss.
No wonder it was a [M]-ranked ability.
The word ‘Myth’ wasn’t even enough. This wasn’t just broken—it was overwhelmingly broken.
Moreover, the [Infinite] Concept Skill didn’t only apply to Inventory. It could be applied to other concepts as well.
A concept is an abstraction of a group of similar entities.
Things like thoughts, time, gods, and transcendent forces—intangibles—are included too.
Meaning, if my comprehension of ‘Infinite’ increased, I could apply it to any of those.
Starting with infinite stamina and mana like Avarus…
Then infinite strength, agility, calories, vision, memory, luck, and so on—
Any concept that could be generalized could be fused with it.
I tried fusing every concept I could think of, just in case.
But nothing worked.
Apparently, my current [Understanding of Infinity] was still too low, so it only worked with the Inventory.
‘Understanding of Infinity…’
Honestly, I had no idea what that even meant.
I mean, I do know what “infinite” means.
A state of endless expansion.
Something with no limit or boundary.
That’s infinity.
But what the Illusion told me was different.
That there were different sizes of infinity.
That distinct types of infinity exist.
That some infinities are even countable.
‘Hmm.’
Not easy to understand.
More precisely—it just didn’t click intuitively.
‘I wonder if the Archmage knows.’
If anyone in the Allied Forces could understand infinity, it would be the Archmage.
Magicology—the field that studies every phenomenon and law of the world.
It includes many branches.
Life Magicology, which studies biological phenomena.
Energy Studies, which explores laws of energy.
Elemental Magicology, which delves into basic elements of nature… and so on.
Alchemy is one of those branches.
Mages who specialize in alchemy are called alchemists.
But being a mage doesn’t mean mastering all of Magicology.
Most choose one discipline and specialize in it—that’s normal. Expected, even.
But not the Archmage.
He mastered all fields of Magicology.
Which is why he once told me:
—“If you ask me why a phenomenon happens, I won’t be able to answer.”
But:
—“If you give me the conditions, I can explain exactly how it happens.”
He was closer than anyone to the ultimate truths that only gods were said to understand.
That’s why the Allied Forces called him the [Mage of Truth]. (T/N: The ‘he’ here is a way to refer to an unknown person, but most likely the archmage is a ‘she’.)
And it was from him that I had learned everything I knew about evolutionary biology.
He was the source of all that knowledge.
If anyone understood infinity in a way I didn’t, it would be him.
‘At this point in time, he’s probably in the Langrid Magic Tower.’¹
Unlike Ian, I had a general idea of the Archmage’s whereabouts.
Right now, Ian took priority, so I had set the meeting aside, but—
‘No harm in laying the groundwork early.’
After all, he was one of the absolute must-recruit powerhouses for the Allied Forces.
Anyway—
For now, even if it’s limited, just expanding my Inventory to ∞kg was a major gain.
I could now store unlimited nutrients needed for [Regeneration][B+].
In other words, I now had conditionally infinite stamina.
Of course, I didn’t have infinite money to buy infinite nutrients, but—
‘Over twenty million gold, huh.’
The funds I looted from Avarus’s secret vault had passed 20 million.
To be exact: 23,453,200 gold.
Not quite a kingdom’s annual budget…
But about equal to that of a small principality. An absurdly massive sum.
And there was no way this kind of money came from a mere viscounty.
‘Was this the Dark Merchant Group’s operating fund?’
It had to be.
The money they’d gathered to bribe collaborators in various kingdoms.
Basically, it was hush money for the Battenberg Kingdom’s nobility.
In my past life, it had likely been used to buy out Battenberg’s political system entirely.
But in this life, I intercepted it midway.
That was a massive financial blow—and a wrecking ball to the Dark Merchant Group’s plans.
‘I’m loving this.’
I could already hear the screams of joy from those cultists who worship corrupted souls.
‘This should be enough as the Allied Forces’ seed money.’
Now then—
‘All I have to do is find Ian.’
As long as I regroup with Ian, everything would be fine.
I hadn’t heard a word from him yet, but I figured it was because he was busy searching through some remote mountain valley trying to find me.
In my previous life, before I met Ian, I’d lived like a lunatic—no different from a monster.
Avoiding human eyes meant wandering regions far removed from civilization.
So, if Ian was indeed searching for me, he’d prioritize the uncivilized areas first.
But he wouldn’t search such places forever.
Right now, the name of the Predator Merchant Group was rapidly spreading.
It wouldn’t be long before I reunited with Ian.
In other words, everything was progressing smoothly.
As soon as I wrapped up that train of thought—
“Th-that’s insane…!!”
Kai was still in shock.
An extreme reaction, full of disbelief.
“Ugh… ugh…!”
The Infinite Inventory must’ve shaken him up pretty hard.
