The Deep Slime was located in the northern wasteland.

Using the sun hanging in the sky as a compass, I walked straight ahead.

By now, the Deep Slime should have appeared, but…

“What’s this?”

I furrowed my brow.

Multiple footprints were etched into the wasteland.

Judging by the length and stride, they undoubtedly belonged to humans.

‘Five people. Three men, two women.’

This couldn’t be a coincidence.

I wasn’t the only one targeting the Deep Slime.

Boss monsters respawned ten days after being hunted—a rule of the tutorial stage.

I had too much to do, and coming all the way back here just for the Deep Slime was annoying.

*BOOOOM—!*

A deafening explosion reverberated in my ears.

Had they already found the Deep Slime?

I tensed my legs and sprinted in the direction of the footprints.

“Chuurp!”

“Chuuruurp!”

A few slimes lunged at me, but I ignored them.

Before long, the battlefield came into view.

Five players, surrounded by a swarm of slimes.

“So it’s them.”

*Tch—* I clicked my tongue.

I hadn’t expected competitors in the wasteland.

But the situation didn’t look good.

“There are too many slimes!”

“We’ll collapse before we even get to the Deep Slime!”

Two players, acting as tanks, shouted in panic.

Smoke rose from their bodies, and their armor was smeared with slime ooze.

Judging by how it hadn’t melted, their gear was decent.

Still, it was only a matter of time.

If they couldn’t thin the swarm, the outcome was obvious.

“Fire Bolt!”

“Fire…!”

“Lightning!”

A streak of lightning and two flaming arrows struck the slimes.

*Pong—!*

The slimes’ bodies swelled before exploding with a loud noise.

Two tanks and three ranged dealers.

‘They can handle the swarm.’

But taking down the Deep Slime lurking behind them would be impossible.

Might as well save these poor souls and claim the Deep Slime for myself.

As I approached the battlefield, the player team glanced at me.

“Hey! Slimes are tough for first-day players—stay back!”

One of the tanks shouted.

They must’ve mistaken me for an unprepared player based on my appearance.

“Don’t worry about me.”

Without hesitation, I stepped toward the slime swarm—straight toward the Deep Slime.

“Chuurp!”

A slime spread its body wide, blocking my path.

“Fire…!”

A ranged dealer hurriedly began preparing a fire spell.

Seriously.

“I *said* don’t worry about me.”

Making me repeat myself.

I swung my arm lightly.

*Bang—!*

The slime burst like a drum being struck.

“Huh…?”

One of the players let out a dumbfounded noise.

Oh Ji-Won was a former weightlifter turned player.

His awakened ability was [Ironman].

A rare skill that granted bonus stats with each level-up and added defensive options—one that earned him recruitment by Phoenix, one of Korea’s top ten guilds.

He’d even received special training before challenging the Tower.

But.

‘Who the hell is that guy?’

Ji-Won’s pupils trembled.

The cause of his shock, Jin-Ho, was overwhelming the Deep Slime with terrifying ease.

Ji-Won glanced at Kim Mi-Jin, his fellow Phoenix recruit.

“Doesn’t the Deep Slime only take damage from fire or lightning?”

“Normally, yeah.”

“Could he have enchanted his hands or something?”

The Deep Slime had far higher physical resistance than regular wasteland slimes.

Theoretically, even a level 50 melee hunter would find it difficult to injure that ooze.

Mi-Jin, a fire-type awakener, shook her head.

“I don’t sense any mana. That’s pure physical force.”

“Huh.”

“Team Leader Ji-won, there’s another way to take down the Deep Slime, isn’t there?”

“You mean targeting the cores?”

The Deep Slime had five cores attached to its form.

Theoretically, destroying all of them would kill it.

“The instructor said that’s impossible.”

Ji-Won shook his head before continuing.

“You’d need pinpoint accuracy to seize a fleeting moment, plus overwhelming strength to kill a Deep Slime that way.”

“Pretty sure that’s exactly what that guy’s doing.”

Mi-Jin was right.

If not for the “impossible” method, Jin-Ho’s dominance made no sense.

“Only one person in our guild ever killed a Deep Slime on day one.”

“Who?”

“Guild Master Yang Jung-Soo.”

Korea’s #2 ranked player.

A global powerhouse even among the world’s elite.

“Come on, comparing some rando to the Guild Master over one slime is a stretch.”

Mi-Jin spoke with a skeptical tone.

“You never know.”

Ji-Won muttered calmly.

Whether the Phoenix recruits believed him or not didn’t matter.

“Disgusting, then and now.”

Jin-Ho frowned.

White smoke rose from the back of his hand.

When a regular slime’s core was destroyed, its dissolving fluid disappeared.

Regular slimes dissolved after losing one core, but the Deep Slime’s multiple cores made avoiding its acid impossible.

With each core shattered, Jin-Ho’s hands burned—yet he didn’t stop.

“One left.”

“Chuuuurp…!”

The Deep Slime let out a pitiful cry.

The slime swarm writhed and squirmed.

Oh Ji-won raised his shield and blocked their path.

“[Taunting Shout]!”

The slimes flinched.

A skill that forced aggression—highly effective against instinct-driven monsters.

“Ji-Won—I mean, Team Leader?”

Mi-Jin’s eyes widened.

Ji-Won’s expression was firm.

“Our team will help that player take down the Deep Slime.”

“But Phoenix assigned us to retrieve its corpse!”

“Without him, we’d be dead. We’ll try again later.”

“That’s… Ugh, fine.”

Mi-Jin bit her lip before conjuring flaming arrows and skewering slimes from behind.

“Chuurp!”

“Chuuruurp”

Ji-Won held the front while the ranged dealers rained attacks.

“Chuuruuruurp!!!!”

“Come at me!”

The Deep Slime’s shrieks and Ji-Won’s roar clashed.

As the slimes faltered—

“Too noisy. Time to sleep.”

Jin-Ho’s fist crushed the final core.
