0.0000001% Demon King - 0DK Chapter 22: Hero Sinclair (1) (Part 2)
The golden-haired woman didn’t respond. Bathesia frowned and raised her hand. Darkness began to ooze out.
“Not going to answer?”
“Seems like it.”
The woman spoke briefly, and her hand spread out.
Keeng.
A golden barrier unfolded above her. Slowly, a weapon began to take shape. Eventually, a sword entirely golden in color appeared.
“Huh.”
Without realizing it, Bathesia took a step back. Danger. The Demon King’s instinct sounded an alarm. Bathesia clenched her fist urgently as darkness surged like a violent torrent. At the same moment, the woman grabbed the sword.
Kwaang!
“Aaaah!”
“What?!”
An explosion occurred. Lillis shielded Karos just as darkness and golden light clashed, causing a fierce backlash. Trees around them were uprooted as if hit by a storm.
“A hero…!”
Bathesia gritted her teeth. The woman held the sword with unwavering posture, and a holy light spread in all directions.
“I am Sinclair Sekriade, the hero summoned by the Sun God. Following the divine oracle, I shall vanquish the Demon King.”
“…A hero? The hero?”
Lillis mumbled in disbelief. A flurry of thoughts raced through her mind. Someone desperately tapped on her shoulder.
“Ugh! Ugh!”
“Ah, Demon King.”
Karos, who was in Lillis’s arms, was gasping for air as if suffocating. Lillis quickly let go, and Karos caught his breath.
“I almost died.”
“Sorry. But a hero…!”
“Eek!”
Bathesia groaned and slammed her fist down. Simultaneously, a wind imbued with dense magical power rushed towards the hero. It was a force capable of destroying buildings in one go, but the hero, Sinclair, calmly held the sword.
“Light.”
With a simple word, the sword was enveloped in light. The holy light swallowed the windstorm, leaving only a breeze in its wake.
“Definitely a hero.”
Karos muttered dryly, a forced smile on his lips.
“So this is how I die. It’s been a good demon life. Lillis, you’ve done well too. Let’s be good to each other in hell.”
“Regain your composure! It can’t end like this!”
As Karos spoke as if giving up, Lillis screamed. Karos, looking defeated, covered his ears.
“What am I supposed to do… a hero, the hero…”
Hero.
A being called by God to defeat demons or awaken their own power to bring peace to the world.
Their numbers were not many, barely ten. Yet each possessed power comparable to The Sovereigns.
Individuals who could defeat Demon Kings single-handedly. Those who eliminated threats to the world. People revered them as heroes. The number of Demon Kings slain by them was countless.
“And Sinclair, the Sun God’s hero. A Demon King slayer. How can we win… Was the prophecy I heard about this… It fits too well…”
“Are you going to end it like this! Pull yourself together! Bathesia is still fighting!”
Lillis shook Karos’s shoulder roughly, urging him to act. Though it was rough treatment for a Demon King, it brought a glint of determination to Karos’s eyes.
“…Right. Bathesia is fighting, I can’t give up.”
“Though it seems we’ll be defeated soon.”
“A good servant wouldn’t say that.”
“What are you leisurely chatting about!”
Bathesia screamed with a deathly pale face. She was barely holding off with the windstorm, but she couldn’t do anything against that holy light. It was the antithesis of demons.
“Crush her!”
Bathesia slammed her hand down. The light magical energy descended, wrapping around Sinclair like a barrier. It was a force that could shake the foundation of a holy site, but it shattered with the spread of golden light.
“What a dog’s…”
Bathesia was a powerful Demon King. Her strength alone could oppose a kingdom, and her forces posed a threat even to an empire.
However, she was utterly helpless against Sinclair. No matter how much power she had lost, it wasn’t like her to be defeated so easily. It was just that the hero, Sinclair, was an unreasonable existence.
“How much longer do you think you can hold out?”
“Who knows? Won’t last ten minutes!”
Golden light thudded, penetrating the barrier of wind. Karos racked his brain, but no solution came easily.
“This won’t work. That won’t work either. Can’t even talk it out. Hmm… I’m really going to lose my mind.”
“Oops.”
Suddenly, Sinclair, who had approached unnoticed, thrust her hand through a gap. The barrier shattered, and she stood right in front of Karos.
“Ah.”
This is it. As Karos resigned himself to his fate, Sinclair grabbed his shoulder and flew away from Bathesia and Lillis.
“Damn it!”
Bathesia released her magical power in desperation, but it was blocked by the holy light.
“No!”
Karos was captured. The end of a Demon King captured by a hero was predictable. Sinclair’s cold gaze met Karos’s. They stared at each other blankly, then Sinclair spoke.
“You seem frightened. Being caught among demons must have been terrifying. I’ll protect you from now on.”
“…What?”
“Huh?”
“Eh?”
“Why is that?”
Silence hung in the air. Bathesia and Lillis stared blankly at Sinclair. Sinclair tilted her head, puzzled.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“…Ah.”
At that moment, Karos realized what he had to do. He raised his arm, pointing at Bathesia, and cried out in an innocent tone.
“Hero! Please defeat the Demon King!”
