0.0000001% Demon King - 0DK Chapter 25: Hero Sinclair (4) (Part 1)
“Excuse me?”
Karos involuntarily retorted. Sinclair smiled and thumped her chest.
“Just as I said. I will train you.”
“No. No, I mean.”
He hurriedly grasped at his fleeing senses.
‘This can’t be right!’
Karos screamed internally. A Demon King training with the Slayer of Demon Kings? It was a ludicrous idea. Regardless, Sinclair was declaring it with a face full of zeal.
“That Demon King was quite strong. Even if you train by yourself, there’s a clear limit. So, I will assist you.”
“No, that’s not necessary.”
Karos immediately rejected the offer.
Though it was astounding to describe a Sovereign amongst the Demon Kings, the ruler among them, as merely “quite strong,” Sinclair was indeed a being of that caliber. Associating with such an entity was an inefficient method of suicide.
“I must avenge with my own hands, with my own strength. That is my promise. Moreover, I cannot impose any further on Lady Sinclair.”
A desperate refusal was evident on Karos’s face, which Sinclair read in the light of his expression and momentarily hesitated.
“Hmm… Ah. Can’t be helped then.”
She scratched her cheek with an awkward expression.
“Even a lie told in goodwill is still a lie. I suppose I’ll have to seek penance from the gods later. Vain, there’s something I haven’t told you.”
“What might that be?”
She said with a serious face.
“I sense demonic energy from you.”
At that moment, Karos’s heart stilled. Sweat began to form on his hands.
“What do you mean by that?”
“Exactly as I say. I sense demonic energy from you. Perhaps… the Demon King played a trick on you.”
“Ah, is that so.”
‘Damn it.’
He cursed inwardly. It was truly bad for the heart. Regardless of Karos’s reaction, Sinclair continued quietly.
“That demonic energy will transform you. It won’t be something impossible like a human turning into a demon race, but you will become something not human. You are… practically living on borrowed time. A sort of time bomb.”
Sinclair’s eyes were filled with pity.
“So, I must stay by your side. I’m not sure if I can cure it, but it’s going to be tough. It’s the first time I’ve seen such a case, but clearly, the demonic energy has infiltrated even your essence.”
Of course. Karos was a Demon King, a demon in his very being. However, Sinclair did not know this.
“Perhaps by continuously providing you with holy power, you might be able to withstand it. So, I must assist you.”
“Is that so…”
Karos’s head dropped. Sinclair looked at him quietly with a bitter expression.
“It’s okay.”
“What did you say?”
“It’s okay, Hero.”
Karos lifted his head, showing a smile without a hint of darkness.
“Rather, it’s fortunate. Even if I were to fail, it means I could use my life to launch one final attack.”
“You are…”
Sinclair opened her mouth, confused.
“Are you really okay with that?”
“I’m fine.”
Karos responded immediately, saying with a resolute face.
“I must avenge my comrades. With my own hands, not anyone else’s. I should even be thankful to the Demon King. I don’t need to be misled anymore.”
“Ah…”
Sinclair gasped, and Karos internally rejoiced.
‘Done.’
She completely believed him. The worry was completely gone.
‘…Though it’s a bit strange.’
Sinclair had a dreamy look on her face. It wasn’t just a matter of believing a lie; she was utterly captivated. Suddenly, Karos felt uneasy.
“Good.”
“Do you believe in me?”
Karos smiled broadly. Sinclair smiled back.
“I can’t leave someone like you to die!”
“Thank you… What?”
“You are beautiful. Your will is enough, you are stronger than anyone! I cannot allow someone like you to wither away like a flower!”
“Hero?”
Something was wrong. Karos swallowed his anxiety.
“Um, Hero. I am…”
“Good. I will take you to the holy land.”
“…What?”
Karos was puzzled, failing to grasp her meaning. Then, he remembered.
The holy land.
Sinclair was the hero of the Sun God.
Karos’s face turned deathly pale, and Sinclair exclaimed boldly.
“I will take you to the Sun God’s holy land and drive out your demonic energy! It’s possible there! And with the grace of the god, I will train you.”
“No. No, that’s not it.”
“Your spirit matches the power you will receive. The will of a hero.”
“Hero, I plan to become strong with my own strength. I don’t need the power of others……”
Karos desperately refused. But Sinclair laughed heartily, grabbing his shoulders.
“Do not worry. The god is merciful.”
“No, my own strength……”
“The power of the god will become your power! Maintain your will, so don’t worry!”
“Listen to me!”
Karos couldn’t help but yell, but Sinclair just smiled.
“The power of the Sun God will spread to everyone!”
‘Ah. This won’t work.’
Karos realized. To a fanatic who believes in god, logical arguments about the deity do not apply. It was clear that she would forcibly take him along. He desperately exclaimed.
“The holy land is not supposed to admit those who don’t believe in the god!”
Strictly speaking, even those who believe in the god find it difficult to enter. It’s truly a holy land, accessible only to a select few.
But Sinclair calmly said.
“The Sun God will surely allow this case. Don’t worry.”
“It’s not about worry, I don’t want to go… Aaaaaaah! It hurts!”
“Do not worry!”
In her excitement, Sinclair applied force to the hands holding Karos’s shoulders.
“My shoulders! My shoulders!”
Karos’s body was only as strong as an ordinary human’s. Sinclair was a being powerful enough to consider even the Sovereigns beneath her. Her excitement led her to exert force, and Karos’s face began to turn pale white. Amidst this, Sinclair kept smiling.
“God will take care of you!”
“Cra…zy…”
And Karos passed out.
