0.0000001% Demon King - 0DK Chapter 40: Crossroads (2) (Part 2)
“Relying on luck at the very end. It goes against my aesthetics.”
“Sometimes, you need a bit of luck in everything.”
Bathesia and Karos alone couldn’t escape. Even if Sinclair joined, it would be the same.
What they needed was a separate power.
Bathesia opened the void. A black box fell in front of Karos.
“Eleven pieces. Prepared just as you said.”
“I hope the luck is good this time.”
The box was multicolored. Currently, there were only two types now, but the contents varied depending on the color.
The white box could contain anything from the mythical mineral Bryon to trash.
And the black box, a box of monsters.
Sinclair shuddered.
“That is…”
Looking at the box, her eyes saw something alien. Karos fiddled with the box.
“You know the characteristics of our Demon King, right?”
“…Yes.”
Every Demon King is born with a special power granted by the Great Demon King. A force that operates independently of demonic energy and magic.
The Pope, pale-faced, ordered the attack. Karos lifted the box.
“If it’s just slimes again, I’ll kill them.”
With a determined voice, a black light burst forth.

The charging paladins all stopped at once. Shouts ceased, and a chilling silence fell.
Karos let out a sigh of admiration.
“Didn’t know this could come out. At least it’s not a dud.”
“Krr.”
The monster stretched its massive body, shadowing the nearby paladins.
A two-headed monster roared.
“Kraaaaaaa!”
Its fearsome aura swept through the paladins. The faint-hearted fell to their knees, unable to withstand the terror. The strong gritted their teeth and stood firm, but their trembling legs betrayed them.
“Krrrr!”
The Twin-Headed Ogre began to rampage.
“Save meeee!”
“Aaah! Aaaaah!”
As the Twin-Headed Ogre rampaged, the paladins screamed. Every swing of its arms crushed flesh and sent chunks of bodies flying.
“Kra. Kraaaa!”
“Everyone, don’t panic! This is the land of God!”
A commander tried to contain the chaos. But fear, like something with legs, spread among the people.
“Krrrrr!”
Behind the ogre, a giant lizard, a Drake, charged down the road. Paladins were flung about like bowling pins.
“What are these things!”
“Slimes?”
“Kyu! Kyu!”
“Kyu!”
Nine slimes charged at the paladins. Kicked and slashed at, they clung to the paladins’ bodies without taking any damage.
“These things! They’re trying to get in our mouths!”
“Get off!”
The formation quickly collapsed. Amid a scene not befitting the Holy Land, Karos whistled.
“That’s something.”
“Tell me about it.”
Bathesia looked sourly at the rampaging ogre.
“Drakes are one thing, but a Twin-Headed Ogre… that came out too.”
“They say even dragons can come out.”
“Well then.”
The Twin-Headed Ogre. Unlike the ogres Bathesia had easily subdued before, this one shared only the name but was a completely different species.
This creature could easily obliterate a city if it went on a rampage. It was one of the top-tier monsters, a kind that even Bathesia had only a handful of chances against.
“So, Bathesia.”
“I know.”
The chaos was enough. Ordinary paladins were too panicked to notice them.
But amidst the chaos, there were those who still maintained their formation.
“Please handle it.”
“Mad gods’ lances, huh.”
The direct paladins of the Sun God. It was Bathesia’s task to tie them down.
“Keep the path clear until I’m done.”
Bathesia dusted off her hands and leaped forward, landing gracefully in front of the paladins. She bowed elegantly, holding the hem of her skirt.
“Pleased to meet you. Madmen serving a mad god.”
“…”
The paladins didn’t respond but thrust their spears forward. Rejecting dialogue with the demon altogether, a smile crept across Bathesia’s face.
“This is our second time, isn’t it?”
Four years ago. On the Borun battlefield, she had fought the Sun God’s direct paladins. She could overwhelm them but not annihilate them.
These were the pillars supporting the Sun God next to the Hero. Previously, maybe, but now without her Demon King powers, she was clearly at a disadvantage. There was even a chance she might die.
However, Bathesia laughed joyfully.
“Good. Very good.”
Magic began to swirl around Bathesia’s body. The paladins clenched their teeth and braced themselves.
“You are indeed worthy.”
The girl who once bickered with Karos was not there. The child who loved cute things and was emotional was gone.
“I am the Demon King! Bathesia Concretia! The foe predetermined from the beginning!”
She was the enemy of humanity. Bathesia burst out laughing.
“I will kill you! I will tarnish your honor, trample upon your corpses! That is my given right!”
A Demon King invades and conquers the earth. That was the mission given to every Demon King.
“And so it is for you! Kill me, tarnish my honor, trample upon my corpse, and desecrate my land! That is the right granted to you!”
She kills humans, and humans kill her.
That was her belief. She dusted off her hands.
“Come then. Dogs of the god.”
The sky darkened.

Light and darkness collided, mixing together. The shockwave was so powerful that distant buildings crumbled, scattering debris in all directions.
Amidst this, Karos calmly walked forward. Though Bathesia had lost her powers, it was unlikely she would be easily pushed back. He had enough time to accomplish his goal.
Karos approached Sinclair, who was driving away the approaching paladins.
