A Frontline Soldier Awakened as a Gamer In The War! - FSAGW Chapter 65 (Part 2)
Kaiyan successfully raised two D-rank skills to C-rank. And the most important one, the Aura.
Finally, he had graduated from Aura Novice and entered the realm of Aura Expert.
Aura Expert granted an astounding 100-150% boost in physical abilities! However, Kaiyan could currently raise it by 100% due to his lack of proficiency.
Nonetheless, he could now discharge Aura through his sword as long as he had the will to do so.
Compared to a week ago, Kaiyan could confidently say that he had become at least 1.5 times stronger.
“[Kaiyan, you are using the new skills intermittently, right? While existing skills are important, don’t forget that new skills can become your trump card!]”
“…Yes, I am. But it’s harder than I thought.”
Rieka also mentioned that Kaiyan’s selection of available skills was too limited, preventing him from fully exploiting all his abilities.
As a result, Kaiyan decided to purchase several new skills from the shop based on Rieka’s recommendation. Fortunately, the game system treated The Lich as a Named Monster and gave an additional 1000G, so Kaiyan could make the purchase without any difficulty.
Ding! [Shock Resistance (C): Nullifies 15% of all incoming physical damage.]
One of the skills was Shock Resistance, a passive skill that reduced the pain inflicted on Kaiyan.
The second skill was:
Ding! [Physical Enhancement (C): Increases physical ability stats by 15% for 5 minutes, cooldown of 30 minutes.]
Effectively, it was the same as the Aura skills. However, the difference was that it didn’t increase in rank, and Kaiyan could only use it for 5 minutes at a time. But what was remarkable was that it stacked with Aura skills.
When used together, Aura and Physical Enhancement not only increased Kaiyan’s stats by 115% but even more.
Lastly, the third skill:
Ding! [Cognitive Acceleration (C) – Active/Inactive: Consumes mental power to expand vision.]
“It’s the skill that gives me a headache.”
It didn’t simply enhance his eyesight; when used, it expanded his field of vision. To be precise, it allowed Kaiyan to see what his eyes could not.
Before, if Kaiyan was attacked from behind, he could only deduce that an attack was incoming based on his danger sense. But with Cognitive Acceleration activated, he could now even perceive the nature of the incoming attack.
However, there was one significant problem.
“Is there any way to recover my Mental power, Rieka?”
Indeed, the energy used for Cognitive Acceleration was not mana or Stamina but Mental power. The longer it was used, the faster the mind would tire.
As a result, Kaiyan was not only physically exhausted from hunting monsters but mentally drained as well.
“Rest or level up to recover Mental power!”
“No… I mean, a way to instantly replenish it.”
“Well… It might be possible with the highest-tier potion, the Elixir… But using an Elixir just to restore mental power would be insane. One costs a whopping 1000G.”
“…1000G? Let’s just recover through rest.”
Paying 1000G for a single potion was absurd. It meant that to purchase an Elixir, Kaiyan would have to defeat a Named Monster.
Recovering mental power with an Elixir, as Rieka suggested, was simply an outrageous idea even if he had some G to spare.
“Ha… Still, I’ve improved a lot.”
“That’s because mental power becomes stronger the more you use it! Make sure to train it during your free time!”
The first time Kaiyan used Cognitive Acceleration, he thought he was going to die. His head hurt so much that he couldn’t even dodge attacks from monsters. Thanks to that experience, he now fully understood the effect of Shock Resistance.
“So, how long do I have to stay here?”
“Until you can freely move around outside without using the shop? You know there are people out there targeting you, Kaiyan! It’s dangerous to go out like this!”
It was all because of Jansen. If Jansen hadn’t done those things, Kaiyan wouldn’t have had to lie.
“But thanks to him, I have 800 gold in the inventory at least.”
The new function of the inventory! No, it was a function Kaiyan had foolishly not used until now.
He could store not only shop items but other things as well. If Rieka hadn’t told him about it, he might have been carrying around a purse with 800 gold in it.
“Kaiyan, how much G do you have now?”
“Hold on… I have 437G at the moment.”
It wasn’t exactly a lot, but it wasn’t too little either – 437G.
He had spent a lot of G on purchasing various skills, and also on items to protect himself during battles with the Lich and the purchase of the “Mirror, Mirror” twice. So, he had less G than he expected.
“You need more! Kaiyan, you aim to become a Swordsman. But do you intend to keep using only the lowest-level sword techniques?”
“That’s… true.”
“To grow faster, you need to obtain intermediate-level or higher sword techniques as soon as possible.”
Rieka was right, and Kaiyan had nothing to say in response.
It was absurd to aim to become an Aura Master while only using the lowest-level sword techniques. Although they were efficient until now, to approach his goal quickly, he needed at least intermediate-level or even advanced-level sword techniques.
“Intermediate-level sword techniques cost between 9000G and 12000G… So, I have to stay here for at least 100 days.”
Even intermediate-level techniques were expensive, and advanced-level techniques were beyond imagination.
Just a brief look, and most of them were well over 10000G.
“Now, get moving again! For the sake of 10000G!”
Rieka, the white baby cat, raised one of her paws and patted Kaiyan’s shoulder.
“Ha…”
Maybe this was for the best.
After all, even if he hadn’t met Rieka, he would have come to the monster habitat to grow stronger.
Squawk.
Gripping his weapon tightly, even though his stamina was depleted, he strangely felt invigorated.
“Yes, for 10000G!” Kaiyan raised his hand toward the direction where he sensed the presence of monsters as Rieka rested on his shoulder.
