All Stat Slayer - A.S.S Chapter 44 (part 2): Season 1: Preparation
Hyun-seok didn’t immediately join the turtle monster slaying due to Myeong-hoon’s request. He was waiting for the opportunity to clear the Hidden Dungeon. There were already too many Slayers slaying the turtle monster, so he hesitated to participate.
Myeong-hoon was exploring the dungeon with one support Slayer. Support and recovery Slayers had higher value than combat Slayers because their numbers were smaller. Therefore, it was becoming more common for separate guilds to be established and participate in quests as support and recovery Slayers.
By operating in this manner, they not only received mission fees but also divided the slaying rewards by 1/N, resulting in double income. Many guilds that didn’t include support or recovery Slayers hired them begrudgingly to participate in slaying. The guild consisting solely of support Slayers contacted the Union.
- Support?
- Yes, we are a mercenary guild composed solely of Support Slayers. We heard that Mr. Myeong-hoon, who recently joined the Inha Guild, went on a dungeon exploration with us.
- Yes, I see.
- However…
Support couldn’t directly contact Hyun-seok. They could only contact him through the Union since they were affiliated with it.
- However… I heard that communication was cut off recently. Is there any ongoing communication with Mr. Myeong-hoon?
- We were in touch until yesterday…
One of the guild members who went on a dungeon exploration with Myeong-hoon lost contact. Hyun-seok tried to call Myeong-hoon after receiving the message, but Myeong-hoon didn’t answer. According to “Support”, the communication abruptly ended with a scream.
Ring, ring.
With each repeated ringtone, Hyun-seok grew increasingly anxious. The turtle monster’s shield gauge was filling up again! Although he heard words like “Damn it! The shield gauge is filling up again!” and such, Hyun-seok didn’t pay much attention to them.
On one side,
“What the hell is this madness! Why is the shield gauge filling up again!”
“We’ve been doing well so far, why is this happening suddenly? Everyone, let’s put more effort into it!”
Frustrated Slayers vented their anger due to the shield gauge rising again. Jong-won spoke. In a way, it seemed like he had lost some of his sanity. It was similar to Hyun-seok when he heard that a Cyclops appeared in Wonju, where his family was.
“Hey! What are you thinking! We need to move quickly! One of our guild members is missing!”
Fortunately, Hyun-seok was in a relatively stable state. Despite Myeong-hoon being a guild member, they didn’t have a deep relationship yet, and he hadn’t reached the point of losing his sanity. However, Jong-won was different. His eyes widened, and he raised his voice, saying they should go and search immediately.
“The last confirmed location was…”
They could confirm the last location. They had been monitoring his position in real-time through GPS to enable immediate movement upon discovering a dungeon.
‘If they discover a Hidden Dungeon… There’s a high possibility that an achievement reward notification will appear for the entire party. The party system is activated regarding dungeons. But there was no notification sound. That means… the highest probability is encountering a dangerous monster.’
At the moment, the hypothesis that they had encountered a dangerous monster seemed the most plausible. Hyun-seok immediately informed the Union of this fact. For the Korean Union, Hyun-seok was a person they “had to know.” Prioritizing matters related to Hyun-seok was the policy of the Union’s executives, and they were well aware of his importance.
Upon Hyun-seok’s request, the Korean Union quickly took action and issued a public announcement to all Slayers nationwide about large-scale exploration activities. They also arranged a helicopter for Hyun-seok’s transportation with the help of the government.
“Did you hear? The Union has put a 1 billion reward on the missing exploration Slayer.”
“But since there’s a high probability of encountering dangerous monsters, they recommend only Gold-grade or higher Slayers to participate.”
“Still, 1 billion seems worth it, doesn’t it? It’s just an exploration…”
“Don’t be ridiculous. Imagine if there’s a Cyclops. We’d just die. It’s better to hunt ten Orcs instead.”
It wasn’t certain, but according to Hyun-seok’s expectations, there was a high probability of encountering a dangerous monster. Myeong-hoon was the first to discover the Twin-Headed Troll. Given the circumstances, it was highly likely. The GPS device was probably damaged for that reason as well.
‘Just stay alive.’
Myeong-hoon was originally a combat Slayer. He could handle Orcs, even if it was a struggle. If he encountered a monster beyond that, he could simply run away. However, the fact that there had been no communication so far was definitely a bad sign.
Due to the Union’s announcement, Gold-grade Slayers gathered near Jinchun Mountain in Gyeonggi Province.
There were only about 30 of them, which could be considered a meager number to say they “gathered.” But still, it was no small matter that one-third of the approximately 100 Slayers in Korea had assembled. Around Gold-grade, they would have some knowledge about Hyun-seok.
One of Hyun-seok’s guild members went missing. Most of them moved not just to claim the 1 billion reward but also to owe a debt to Hyun-seok. The government, at the Union’s request, mobilized military dogs and satellites to search for the missing Myeong-hoon. Hyun-seok himself thoroughly searched Jinchun Mountain. However, they found no trace of dangerous monsters, let alone a dungeon.
‘If there were dangerous monsters… it wouldn’t be this quiet.’
Now they had to consider other possibilities.
‘If he was suddenly trapped in a dungeon…’
Entering a dungeon usually required the consent of Slayers. However, that wasn’t an absolute rule. If there were dungeons where entrance was forced, the current situation would make sense. According to Jong-won’s words, Myeong-hoon had learned “Advanced Exploration.” In a situation where many people didn’t even know if the Trapper class existed or not, it meant Myeong-hoon had reached a significantly high level among Trappers.
‘In that case, if we find a Slayer who has learned Advanced Exploration… we might be able to find the hidden dungeon.’
Hyun-seok immediately contacted the Union, and they started interrogating Trappers who had learned Advanced Exploration. Indeed, Myeong-hoon was an eccentric. Until now, there had been no Trapper who had learned Advanced Exploration. The Trappers who became aware of the situation searched around Jinchun Mountain, but the dungeon still remained undiscovered.
Then, a contact came from Lee Chae-rim, a combat Slayer with whom they had previously slain together.
- Do you remember me?
Hyun-seok remembered. They formed a temporary team when they were slaying Orcs together. She was an agile Slayer who used a thin rapier, focusing on dexterity. She could be considered similar in style to Se-young.
From what she said, it seemed she had become a Trapper. Hyun-seok’s presence had a significant influence on that decision. Seeing Hyun-seok, she realized the difference in skills and decided to find a different path. After accumulating remaining stats and contemplating, she ultimately became a Trapper.
- I haven’t learned Advanced Exploration yet. However, I have a method. Of course, it would require your consent, Hyun-seok.
Hyun-seok quickly agreed.
- How?
