Embracing Magic - E.M Chapter 129 (Part 2)
Jena, however, didn’t need to go into a storage space; her injuries were only minor scratches. Karis, on the other hand, had a broken arm that still hung limply. Since she wasn’t a living creature, healing magic wouldn’t work on her. The only way for her to recover was to enter the necklace’s space and let her body regenerate.
Rodin and Jena began transforming the area into a campsite.
Rodin pulled tents from the carriage and set them up in one corner of the clearing. He gathered dry branches to start a campfire and prepared soup for a late dinner.
Larry and Bianca, who were still unconscious, were laid out on blankets in the tent. Even Matthew, who had been forcibly put to sleep, was given a tent of his own.
The campsite was quiet except for the crackling of the fire.
Rodin sat by the flames, reflecting on the events of the day. So much had happened in just one day.
He had battled a colossal beast and, surprisingly, defeated it with relative ease. The efforts of Karis and Jena, who had held the beast at bay, had been instrumental. Though Karis had been injured, the fight was far easier than he had anticipated.
In the process, Rodin had recklessly created a new spell, putting himself in danger. Fortunately, it had become a blessing in disguise, allowing him to ascend to the 7th Circle. However, there had been a moment when he’d nearly shattered his Circle.
“The children got hurt.”
Larry and Bianca’s bracelets contained a type of emergency signal spell. It had been over a year and a half since Rodin had given them the bracelets, and in that time, neither of them had needed to use them. It was no wonder Larry had completely forgotten about the bracelet.
Thankfully, Bianca had remembered and infused her bracelet with mana, sending out the signal that eventually reached Rodin.
The problem was that Rodin had been reconstructing his body at the time, so he had noticed the signal too late.
“Larry’s equipment needs attention.”
Rodin decided to pause his research on mana stones for now. It wasn’t urgent. Instead, he planned to focus on improving Larry’s gear first.
“I should also make a staff for Bianca.”
Unfortunately, Rodin wasn’t particularly skilled at crafting staffs.
He had once acquired a staff made of Arrovine material by killing Elrov, but he had already used it for various purposes. He had also studied Ellice’s staff during their time in the Western Continent, but only for a few days.
“Milord, is something troubling you?” Jena asked.
“No, just thinking about various things. How are you feeling?”
“I wasn’t seriously injured, so I’m fine.”
The small cuts on Jena’s body had long since healed. Her equipment, too, had been fully restored and was as good as new.
“How long will it take for Karis to fully recover?”
“With that level of damage, it will take about five days.”
“That’s longer than I expected.”
“It’s not healing; it’s regeneration. That’s the limit.”
Combat dolls weren’t living beings. Jena’s minor injuries hadn’t been healed; they had merely been restored. The same process would apply to Karis.
“You did well today.”
“It’s nothing. I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help.”
“No, thanks to you two, I could focus on using high-level magic.”
During the fight with the colossal beast, Rodin hadn’t used any minor spells. He didn’t need to dodge or defend hastily, so he was free to concentrate entirely on maximizing the power of his magic.
“Ugh… Brother! No!”
Bianca, whose injuries were less severe, was the first to regain consciousness. As if caught in a nightmare, she let out a sorrowful cry before suddenly opening her eyes.
“You’re awake?”
“Bi… Big Brother Rodin! Waaaah!”
“You held on well.”
Rodin hugged Bianca as she burst into tears in his arms.
“Ugh…”
Her loud sobbing must have woken Larry, who began to stir. He frowned slightly and mumbled something incoherent before snapping his eyes open and looking around.
“You’re awake too.”
“Brother Larry! Waaah! I thought you were dead! Waaaah!”
Bianca, still clinging to Rodin, immediately ran to Larry and hugged him tightly, crying once more.
“Brother. When…?”
“A few hours ago.”
“What about… that person?”
Larry’s voice trembled slightly as he referred to Kendrick as “that person.” Bianca, too, stared at Rodin, clearly wanting to know the answer.
“Elder Kendrick returned to the Cedria Mage Tower. He’s missing an arm, but he survived.”
“You… cut off his arm?”
“No, I didn’t cut it off. It was blown up. And it wasn’t me; it was an old man named Francis who punished him.”
Kendrick had underestimated the Tower Masters of the Four Great Mage Towers. Francis wasn’t a kind, gentle soul.
Each of the Four Great Mage Towers had over a thousand mages under its banner. Landes Mage Tower, in particular, was the largest of them all.
To become a Tower Master in such a powerful institution, one had to trample countless rivals. Francis had decades of experience in political maneuvering and had faced lies and traps hundreds of times. Kendrick’s flimsy deception stood no chance against him.
Francis hadn’t known exactly what Kendrick was hiding, but he had quickly realized that Kendrick was lying.
“That old man… why?”
“Who knows? I plan to ask him if I meet him.”
“Where is he? I want to thank him.”
Larry and Bianca looked around, searching for Francis, while Rodin chuckled softly.
