Embracing Magic - E.M Chapter 15 (Part 1)
Morning exercises like jogging and stretching are usually led by instructors. Sometimes there is one instructor, and at most three instructors come out.
But today, a trainer appeared. The trainer, accompanied by about 20 instructors, stood in front with a solemn face.
The trainees instinctively stood in four rows as soon as they saw the trainer. It was the most familiar formation as they did it every day.
“Is everyone gathered?”
“Yes!”
The young voices of the trainees echoed across the training ground.
Six months had already passed since the entrance ceremony. By now, the kids knew they shouldn’t chat or fool around in front of the trainer.
“Five people by number. Follow the instructors. The rest wait in the barracks.”
“Huh?”
Only five, including Hedler and Lant, moved with the instructor. The rest had to go back into the barracks as soon as they came out.
Once inside, an instructor came to explain today’s schedule.
“Only two people left in this room?”
“Yes. There are only two with lower numbers.”
“I see. I’ll tell you today’s schedule. There are two training rooms: a magic training room and an aura training room. There are plenty of aura training rooms, but unfortunately, there are only five magic training rooms.”
They first measured magic potential, but there were only five training rooms, which is why they only took the first five by number.
“What are the usage times for the training rooms?”
“One hour at a time. You’re number 107 and 108, so you’re last. You’ll use it after lunch.”
“Do we have free time until then?”
“Yes. Since both of you are at the back of the line, you can rest freely until lunch and then come forward.”
Rodin was relieved. Yesterday, they couldn’t leave the barracks, so he couldn’t go to the library, but today they weren’t as strictly controlled.
“How many mages are in the class above us?”
“I don’t know the exact number of mages, but five people use the magic training room.”
“Isn’t that too few? There might be at least one mage among us.”
“Don’t worry. You can divide the available times. Of course, the classes will also be adjusted. If you have classes in the afternoon and use the training room in the morning, the class above will do the opposite.”
“Oh, I see.”
Cory accepted it as it was, but Rodin found another meaning in the instructor’s explanation. They would divide the time between morning and afternoon.
“Excuse me, instructor.”
“Yes, number 108. Speak freely.”
“Using the training room in the morning or afternoon means class time is reduced, right?”
“That’s right. Once your specialization is determined, you’ll only have classes in the morning or afternoon. The rest of the time, you’ll use the training room.”
“Wow! Less class time! Rodin, did you hear? Less class time.”
Cory, who had once burned with a desire to learn the continental common language, no longer existed. Only a Cory who hated studying remained.
“Do you like it that much?”
“Of course. My head spins whenever it’s class time.”
“Do you have any more questions?”
The instructor cut off Rodin and Cory’s conversation.
Although the instructor was explaining kindly, he was busy. He needed to finish the explanation quickly and help with the upper class’s lessons.
“There are only five magic training rooms. And there are five seniors using them. So today…”
“You can’t use them today. Ah, right. The aura training room use is tomorrow. There are plenty, so you’ll go in at once.”
“Oh!”
“Any more questions? No?”
“No, not now.”
“Then rest.”
The instructor left the barracks. Cory chuckled and threw himself onto the bed.
“What’s making you so happy?”
“Less class time.”
“What if you end up having a talent for magic?”
“I doubt it. No way.”
Cory hated studying. He didn’t originally, but after struggling a few times, he came to hate it terribly.
“Let’s go. It’s breakfast time.”
“Hehehe, let’s go.”
—
After breakfast, Rodin holed up in the library. Cory complained about being bored and tried to stop him, but Rodin ignored him.
He read until lunchtime and then filled his stomach.
‘Is Jito in the sky?’
Summoners could instinctively know the direction of their summoned beasts because they were spiritually connected.
But no matter how much he looked up at the sky, he couldn’t see Jito. Whether it was flying too high or hiding in the clouds, he couldn’t see it with the naked eye.
‘I don’t know anything about Jito.’
Rodin had no information on what kind of beast Jito was, its rank, or whether it was combat-oriented. There were no detailed books on summoned beasts in the library either.
Still, he had a rough idea from what he had seen so far.
Given its size and flight speed, it wasn’t combat-oriented. It was probably suited for reconnaissance and gathering information.
“Rodin! When did you get here?”
Cory appeared from behind and hung on Rodin’s shoulder. Rodin shook off Cory and turned around.
“You’re here?”
“Yeah, hehe. I’m looking forward to it. Aren’t you?”
“Of course. Ah! How are Hedler and Lant? Did you meet them?”
“Yeah, neither of them has magic potential. The trainer said their magic talent score was 1.”
From the talent scores, it seemed Hedler and Lant weren’t destined to be mages.
“Really? That’s a shame.”
“They were happy about it though.”
“Why?”
“Because being a mage means you have to study.”
“Oh, you’re just like them.”
After a short wait, the trainer arrived with the instructors. The trainer immediately turned around after checking the remaining two.
“Instructors, take charge.”
“Yes, sir.”
