Rodin said that the Aramia Count’s family would take care of it, but he had no intention of just sitting back and watching the giant wyvern.

The standard was always whether it was visible or not.

Whatever happened out of sight was none of his concern. A simple “I didn’t see it” or “I didn’t know” was enough of an excuse.

But now that the creature had appeared in the Aramia County where he was staying, he couldn’t just ignore it. Whether he killed it or drove it away, he had to remove it from his sight somehow.

‘The children are in danger too.’

Now that the giant wyvern had learned the fear of humans, it had only two choices left.

It could either give up on humans and seek other prey, or target the weak—children and the elderly.

Elderly people were not easily distinguishable from adult men when they were simply standing around. Especially from such a high altitude, they would look even more alike.

If the creature still saw humans as prey, then in the end, its target could only be the children.

—

“So, you gave up on the hunt and came back because of the giant wyvern?”

“No. The lizardmen didn’t show up.”

“I think the problem started when Karis and I went to the lizardmen’s habitat. Ever since then, the lizardmen have been avoiding any place where Karis and I are.”

“Hm, that’s good news. I wanted to clear my head anyway.”

Rodin had successfully implemented the teleportation spell, but it still wasn’t perfected. And focusing solely on refining it was starting to get tedious.

“What are you thinking of doing?”

“Invisibility magic or illusion magic should work.”

“Brother, aren’t invisibility and illusion magic high-circle spells? Can you make an artifact with them?”

“Yeah. I can. I’ve seen an artifact with invisibility magic before. And illusion magic isn’t all that difficult.”

It hadn’t been that long ago. It had been over a year since he’d last seen an invisibility artifact in use, but he had personally examined one on the day he resolved the curse of the Richmond Marquis family.

That day, as he checked all the artifacts in Prince Harrison’s closet, he also analyzed an artifact imbued with invisibility magic.

“Can you make it easily?”

“If I rush, I can finish it by tomorrow. At the latest, the day after.”

“Wow! You make artifacts so easily, Brother.”

“Yeah! Big Brother Rodin, you’re amazing. You always make artifacts that are hard to find even in magic item shops.”

Bianca had been frequenting magic item shops while making disease-healing potions.

She personally sold the finished potions and also bought ingredients to make more.

Through this, she had seen various artifacts made by other magic towers, but none were superior to the ones Rodin created. Whether it was the quality of the magic imbued, their power, or even their number of uses, his were on a completely different level.

—

“Anyway, we’re done for today, right?”

“Since we gave up on the hunt, I’ll do some training.”

“I’ll practice magic.”

Larry and Bianca stepped outside to the open area near the annex. Spacing themselves apart, they each began their respective training.

—

Rodin sat by the reception room window, gazing outside. Through the transparent glass, he spotted a black dot high in the sky.

“What?”

“You called, my lord?”

“No, I wasn’t talking to you, Jena. I was talking to Jito.”

“Ah, understood.”

Jito had been flinching ever since he spotted the black dot in the sky. Ten days ago, he hadn’t reacted like this, but today, he was being particularly fussy.

“What do you want me to do about it?”

—Kueeeeng!

Jito, who had been in his clothes, returned to his original form and glared at Rodin, his expression full of complaints.

“What are you saying?”

—Kueeng! Kueeng! Kueeeeng!

Jito waved his front and hind legs, along with his wings, trying to explain something to Rodin.

It was a fairly intuitive explanation, so Rodin understood immediately.

Even without the gestures, he would have grasped Jito’s meaning. Since their minds were connected, he could easily comprehend anything that wasn’t overly complex.

“No.”

—Kueeng! Kueeeng!

“I get what you’re saying, but no. You can’t even fight—what do you think you’re going to do?”

Jito’s gestures clearly meant that he wanted to fight the giant wyvern soaring in the sky. On top of that, he was also implying that Rodin should watch him make an impressive show of it.

—Kueeeng! Kueeng! Kueeng.

“Stop showing off. No means no. You’re not a combat-suited summon.”

—Kueeng! Kueeeng! Kueeng!

At the mention of not being suited for combat, Jito suddenly puffed up his limbs. It was a movement eerily similar to a muscular man flexing to show off his physique.

“Why are you showing off muscles when you don’t even have any?”

—Kueeet!

“No, I said no. You’ll get hurt.”

—Kueeeng! Kueeeeeeeng!

As Rodin kept refusing, Jito climbed onto his head. Then, grabbing fistfuls of his hair with both feet, he began yanking furiously.

“Hey! Stop that. Let go of my hair and talk properly. Fine, I get it. I’ll let you fight.”

—Kueeng?

“I said I get it.”

Tuk tuk!

Only then did Jito release his grip on Rodin’s hair and hop down. Then, he tapped the windowpane with his front paw.

“Not now. We’ll do it at night.”

—Kueeng?

“I keep my promises. So just wait. We’ll move when it gets dark. Got it?”

—Kue.

Jito pretended to hesitate for a moment before nodding grandly, as if he were making a big concession.

Rodin clicked his tongue at Jito’s absurd behavior.

As far as he knew, summons could never disobey their summoner’s orders. They couldn’t cause even minor harm to their summoner’s body, nor would they ever pester to be allowed to do something their summoner had forbidden.

Yet Jito was breaking every single one of those rules. Especially when he had grabbed Rodin’s hair with both feet—Rodin had been too dumbfounded to even be angry.

Rather than feeling pain, his first thought had been, Is this even possible?

‘Now that I think about it, Undine is similar.’

Both of his contracted summons were terribly disobedient. More than once, he had questioned whether he was really their summoner.

—

Once the sun had set, Jito began prowling near the window. His posture was as if he were the king of the mountains, his shoulders puffed up proudly.

—Kueeng?

“Wait until midnight.”

—Kueeng.

Jito’s shoulders slumped in disappointment.

But after about ten minutes, he puffed them up again, pacing around like a predator eyeing its prey.

“It’s still not time.”

—Kueeng!

“Stop whining. Ugh, I thought I was raising two kids, but turns out it’s three…”

—Hihihi.

“Oh, right. It’s four.”

Undine was mimicking Jito’s movements beside him.

She kept raising and lowering her shoulders repeatedly, which annoyed Jito enough that he smacked her with his tail.

Slap!

But since Undine was made of water, she took no damage whatsoever.

If they had been enemies, it might have been different, but since they were both summoned by Rodin, it was difficult for them to harm each other.

—Kueeeeng!

“It’s still not time.”

Jito puffed up his shoulders and then deflated them, repeating the motion several times. Meanwhile, Rodin spent his time attending Frouval’s lessons.
