Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures - H.P.S.T Chapter 1448: Hallie and Rona
Harry reacted quickly, but Malfoy was even faster. By the time he ran to the wall, the door to the Room of Requirement had disappeared. He watched the door disappear, anger taking over his brain. Harry kicked the wall hard, his toe hurt badly, but he didn’t care. He knew he had missed a good opportunity.
If Myrtle hadn’t suddenly appeared and laughed at Ron who had turned into a girl, making Malfoy suspicious, they might have succeeded now and figured out what strange things Malfoy was doing in the Room of Requirement.
Speaking of which, Ron really shouldn’t have driven Myrtle away in the boys’ bathroom.
Harry looked down at his girls’ school robes and felt very unwilling to give up. He had paid such a great price, but he was just a little bit short…
Now that Malfoy was alert, it would be even more difficult to figure out what he was doing.
“What should we do now?” Ron ran over and asked. “I didn’t expect Myrtle to show up.”
“We’ll just stay here!” Harry thought for a moment and said optimistically. “Malfoy will definitely come out. There’s no food in there, and he won’t be able to hold on for too long.”
Thinking this way made Harry feel much better, and he felt particularly refreshed.
He imagined Draco Malfoy frozen behind that wall, panicking and trembling because his secret was nearly exposed, too afraid to come out…
More than twenty minutes later, Evan came to the seventh floor with their clothes and found Harry and Ron staring at the blank wall.
“I saw Malfoy enter the Room of Requirement on the map,” he said. “Are you going to wait here?”
“Well, he won’t be able to hold on for long in there,” Harry repeated what he had just told Ron.
Evan was sure that Malfoy hadn’t repaired the Vanishing Cabinet yet, and he would definitely come out eventually, but it was not a good idea for them to just wait here.
Malfoy could stay in there hungry for a whole day and sneak out after ten o’clock in the evening.
But they couldn’t stay here forever, otherwise it was very likely that Filch would be the first to arrive…
“I can use the invisibility cloak to stay here,” said Harry. “No one will find out. Now it’s all about patience.”
“All right, I’ll bring you food,” said Evan. “Before that, don’t you two plan to change back to your own appearances?”
“Let’s change back. This look is too awkward. I still…”
Harry stopped talking before he finished. Tonks was walking over from the other end of the corridor, as though she frequently strolled up here.
“Tonks!” he said in surprise, “What are you doing here?”
“Uh, well, I came to see Dumbledore,” said Tonks, eyeing Harry suspiciously. The girl had just called her name, but she didn’t know her.
Under Tonks’ gaze, Harry realized things were going wrong. He had forgotten his current identity, and now there was no way to explain things to her.
This was not something that could be explained or made clear. He hurriedly lowered his head and pretended to be very shy.
“Hello, Evan!” said Tonks. “What are you doing here? These two girls are —”
“— my friends,” Evan replied, not sure how to introduce Harry and Ron. He didn’t know the names of the two girls yet. “This is Hallie, and this is Rona…”
“Oh, hello, Hallie; hello, Rona. Hmm, those names are… well, never mind!”
Tonks didn’t think much about Evan’s introduction. She looked even worse than before, thinner than usual, her mouse-colored hair lank. Her complicated feelings over Lupin had clearly drained all her energy.
“You’re here to see Dumbledore? His office is not here, it’s round the other side of the castle,” Evan changed the subject. Harry and Ron were now standing stiffly behind him, looking extremely shy and nervous — not a good time to draw Tonks’ attention back to them.
“I know,” said Tonks. “He’s not there. Apparently he’s gone away again. Evan, I wanted to ask you something…”
“What’s the matter?” Evan asked. “What happened?”
“I’ve heard rumors … people getting hurt,” said Tonks, picking, apparently unconsciously, at the sleeve of her robes, “Have you heard any news? About any Order of the Phoenix missions?”
“No,” said Evan. “Dumbledore is planning something, trying to get something, but he doesn’t want us involved. I’m not sure what the Order is up to lately. What kind of rumors did you hear? Is it related to the Underground World of Knockturn Alley?”
If Tonks had come all the way to Hogwarts to find Dumbledore, it definitely had something to do with Lupin.
What had the Order of the Phoenix been doing lately?
Evan hadn’t heard a thing here. He only knew that Dumbledore was planning something.
“Not sure, I heard something about Azkaban. If you haven’t heard anything, then it probably isn’t a big deal,” said Tonks.
“Azkaban?!” Evan repeated, “Did someone escape from prison?”
“No, no one escaped. I’m just a little worried. I heard some things…” she said. “It’s nothing. Maybe I’m just being overly sensitive.”
“Don’t worry, Tonks. I haven’t heard anything. I saw Remus over the Christmas holidays; he seemed okay. I even tried to convince him to go talk to you.”
“I saw him at Christmas too. That talk was very pleasant. Thank you for your help,” said Tonks, smiling for the first time. She tightened her robes around her. “If there’s nothing wrong, I’ll be relieved. I have to go, Evan. Good luck with your date! Goodbye, Hallie, Rona — nice meeting you both.”
She turned and left. Evan waved with a wry smile.
Speaking of dating, he left the lovely and beautiful Hermione and Elaine alone, and came here with Harry and Ron, no, with Hallie and Rona. This really was a bit much…
He looked back at the two strange little girls in front of him. They’d better change back quickly and go to the boys’ bathroom now…
Hmm, why did something about that feel kind of weird?
Around ten in the evening, just as Evan was telling Hermione that Tonks had come to Hogwarts looking for Dumbledore, Harry came back dragging his tired body along. He had given up waiting for Malfoy on the seventh floor. The plan had completely failed. Aside from Harry and Ron gaining the experience of being girls, they had achieved nothing. Now they could only wait for another chance.
“It’s all Myrtle’s fault…”
“It’s your plan that was ridiculous,” said Hermione without hesitation, facing Harry’s discouragement. “Now you’d better hope Myrtle doesn’t go around telling everyone you two were turned into girls. I’ll say it one last time, Harry — forget about Malfoy!”
“But he’s in the Room of Requirement…”
“What bad things can he and two boys who have become girls do in that room?! What’s there to investigate about this kind of thing?!” said Hermione. “Even if he is really doing something bad, Dumbledore is here, so you don’t have to worry about it, Harry, the most important thing for you now is to get Slughorn’s memory.”
