After learning of Malfoy’s plan, Dumbledore attached great importance to the protection of Hogwarts. He withdrew most of the current forces of the Order of the Phoenix and made careful deployment.

Seeing all these people in front of them, Hermione and the others felt relieved. Nothing would go wrong tonight!

With so many guards around, as long as Voldemort didn’t come in person … they were confident they could catch all the invaders in one fell swoop.

Just like the battle at the Ministry of Magic last term, the Order of the Phoenix would deal a heavy blow to the Death Eaters tonight.

When Hermione and others entered the office one by one, there was a heated discussion inside. The topic was how to deal with these uninvited participants. According to Professor McGonagall, all students should immediately return to their dormitories and go to sleep. They were not to interfere with tonight’s operation. No matter what happened outside, it had nothing to do with them. In her view, the students’ safety came first.

If it weren’t for Dumbledore’s instructions, she couldn’t have imagined that the students already knew about this matter.

Contrary to her stance, Sirius and Moody supported Hermione and the others in joining the operation.

Time was tight, and the debate couldn’t go on endlessly.

In the end, both sides compromised: Elaine would act with her uncle Caresius; Hagrid would guard the castle gates; other Order of the Phoenix members were stationed around the Room of Requirement. The D.A. students were divided into three groups according to their Houses and placed on the outermost perimeter. That was the full encirclement.

As expected, the outermost perimeter would likely see no combat!

That was what everyone thought. But as the battle began, Hermione was shocked to see from the Marauder’s Map in her hand that Fenrir Greyback was leading several wizards to approach Gryffindor Tower. Their goal was not the Astronomy Tower at all, but Gryffindor House.

In the chaos, they had actually managed to break through the defenses.

Realizing this, Hermione immediately sent Ron to notify Sirius and Professor McGonagall. She and Ginny led the remaining group toward Gryffindor Tower to help.

They had to stop Greyback. This was their fight.

Otherwise, if a group of just-awakened students, still groggy and unaware of what was happening, were to face the bloodthirsty and crazy Greyback and his werewolf minions, the consequences would be unimaginable. Calling it a wolf in a sheep pen would not be an exaggeration.

Hermione was sure that even if the number of Gryffindor students was dozens of times that of Fenrir Greyback and his men, they would not be able to put up any real resistance.

In just a few short minutes, everything had turned upside down.

Greyback’s shouting and the sound of the fight between the Order of the Phoenix and the Death Eaters woke up the entire castle. The students, who had no idea what was going on, all got up, gathered in the common room to discuss for a while before deciding to go out to investigate the current situation in the castle.

Then, they saw Hermione, Ginny and a group of students running back in a hurry.

Before they could figure out why Hermione and the others looked so anxious, or fully understand the words “danger,” “werewolves,” or “go back quickly,” they saw Fenrir Greyback, as terrifying as a devil crawling out of hell, appear in front of them.

Faced with a savage werewolf, retreating into the common room and relying on a portrait that had already fainted from fear to seek protection was utterly unrealistic.

They had no choice but to fight!

There was almost no communication, and the battle broke out immediately.

Soon, screams, cries and wails became the main tone in the hall.

The students were crowded in the narrow entrance of the common room, in a mess.

Most of them were squeezed into the common room, and the portraits on the walls also added to the chaos, shrieking loudly.

Spells were flying chaotically through the air, mostly simple ones such as Expelliarmus, Impedimenta, and Stupefy, which were not enough to threaten Greyback and his minions. These attacks lacked enough magic power, and even when hit by a few Stunning Spells, the werewolves didn’t go down!

On the contrary, the messy crossfire ended up injuring their own people instead.

Greyback and the others counterattacked with horrifying curses: Avada Kedavra and Crucio.

The green light intensified the chaos and directly shattered the students’ confidence.

A fourth-year boy was hit by Cruciatus and collapsed to the floor, screaming and writhing in agony.

Witnessing his miserable state, the students who were not hit screamed even louder than him.

Without special training, it was almost impossible to organize students to fight against the most dangerous werewolves.

Hermione knew that their magic could not cause effective damage to werewolves. She thought of seven ways to kill werewolves in her head and prepared to use more powerful magic.

But before her magic was completed, she saw gray flashing in front of her eyes and heard a hysterical scream in her ears. In the chaos, Greyback, who had long been impatient, gave up his wand and rushed towards her on all fours like an animal.

The werewolf opened his horrifying maw and aimed straight for Hermione’s neck.

The stench and pungent smell of blood hit her face. Hermione kept her composure and cast her spell. The magic struck the charging Greyback, but it seemed to have no effect. His body only staggered slightly, his expression becoming even more savage as he let out a terrifying howl.

Hermione’s heart was beating fast as she prepared for her next spell.

But soon, she could no longer see anything clearly. She could only see Greyback’s terrifying face, his gaping jaws, and those wolf-like, razor-sharp teeth.

The terrifying face froze in front of her eyes, getting closer and closer, and becoming clearer and clearer.

Just like that night three years ago, everything was vividly replaying before her.

At that very moment, a small black cat darted in from the side and leapt between Greyback and Hermione, using its tiny body to block the werewolf’s gaping, bloody maw.

Hermione opened her eyes wide and saw the cat changing into the appearance of Evan.

She felt as if her heart had nearly stopped, her mind blank and unable to think of anything.

It was Evan!

Unlike the panic she’d felt moments ago, a true calm settled over her heart.

Because Evan was here!

With a loud thud, Evan rolled across the ground with Hermione in his arms, narrowly avoiding Greyback’s attack. He raised his wand and fired a barrage of spells at the frenzied werewolf, who was now roaring in rage.

Under his attack, Greyback kept backing away, growing more and more furious.

Looking at Evan in front of him, he wanted to rush up and tear him to pieces!

He wanted to sink his teeth into the boy’s throat and wash away his shame with blood.

Ordinary spells were useless against werewolves. Evan had known this long ago. Even though Greyback was not in his fully transformed state, his body was still far stronger than that of an average wizard. In fact, he seemed to have undergone some kind of mutation compared to before.

Evan frowned as he watched his spells strike Greyback again and again, but failed to bring him down.

Judging by common sense, this was simply impossible!

Looking at the students who were in a mess next to him, he realized he had to act fast, otherwise the battle would continue in this situation, and things could go very wrong. Thinking of this, he abruptly ceased his attacks, channeling his magic power. A silver-white sphere of light began to form at the tip of his wand.

The already crazy werewolf didn’t seem to notice anything different. Seeing Evan pause, he let out a howl and charged straight at him, his eyes completely blood-red. Though Greyback still looked human on the outside, he had completely turned into a wolf!

No — a monster even more terrifying than a wolf.

He rushed towards Evan, not to cast a spell, but to kill him with his own fangs!

“Really, as savage as ever,” Evan sighed, holding Hermione firmly with his left hand, protecting her behind him, watching Greyback getting closer and closer, until he was very close to him, his wand swept upward from below, leaving behind a white trail of light.
