Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures - H.P.S.T Chapter 1549: Seven Potters
It hadn’t been easy for Tonks and Lupin to get to this point!
Although everyone was teasing them, the blessings they offered were heartfelt.
Now, only Sirius remained single. If he hadn’t been imprisoned in Azkaban all those years ago, he likely would’ve had his own family and children by now.
Of course, as a famous hero in the Wizarding world, if Sirius were willing, there would surely be plenty of girls interested in him.
But right now, he certainly wouldn’t agree.
Hopefully, once the war ended and peace returned, Sirius too would find someone to marry and begin a new life.
According to some inside gossip Evan had heard, Sirius got very close to a beautiful French Auror while on assignment abroad last year. They were partners, spending over a year working side by side and developing mutual feelings. Even after Sirius returned, he still frequently received owl letters from France — almost every week.
Writing letters from so far away, week after week — if there were no deeper feelings involved, that would be rather strange.
Don’t ask Evan how he knew this. He just had a feeling that, like Lupin, Sirius would eventually start a family, sooner or later. …
The ancient and noble House of Black would not end with this generation. It would continue to thrive.
Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, perhaps the Blacks would bid farewell to Slytherin and become loyal supporters of Gryffindor.
“All right, all right, we’ll have time for a cozy catch-up later!” roared Moody over the hubbub, and silence fell in the kitchen.
He dropped his sacks at his feet and turned to Harry. “As Dedalus probably told you, we had to abandon Plan A. Pius Thicknesse has gone over, which gives us a big problem. He’s made it an imprisonable offense to connect this house to the Floo Network, place a Portkey here, or Apparate in or out. All done in the name of your protection, to prevent You-Know-Who getting in at you. Absolutely pointless, seeing as your mother’s charm does that already. What he’s really done is to stop you getting out of here safely. I strongly suspect—”
“He must be under the Imperius Curse,” said Sirius. “Many Ministry officials are being controlled now. The Dark Lord has infiltrated the Ministry very deeply.”
“Exactly,” growled Moody. “We don’t have time to waste with Pius Thicknesse, and confronting him in front of Rufus is pointless. We can’t wait any longer. And we can’t count on any new Ministry appointees supporting us either — Rufus is just as suspicious of the Order of the Phoenix.”
“As soon as you come of age, Harry, you’ll lose all the protection your mother gave you. We must act immediately.”
“So what are we going to do?”
“We’re going to use the only means of transport left to us, the only ones the Trace can’t detect, because we don’t need to cast spells to use them: brooms, thestrals, and Hagrid’s motorbike.”
“But…”
“There’s a small problem. Lily’s charm will only break under two conditions: when you come of age, or” — Sirius seemed to guess what Harry was going to say. He gestured around the pristine kitchen — “you no longer call this place home. You and your aunt and uncle are going your separate ways tonight, in the full understanding that you’re never going to live together again. So this time, when you leave, there’ll be no going back, and the charm will break the moment you get outside its range. We’re choosing to break it early, because the alternative is waiting for a horde of Death Eaters to come and seize you the moment you turn seventeen.
“The one thing we’ve got on our side is that You- Know-Who doesn’t know we’re moving you tonight. We’ve leaked a fake trail to the Ministry: They think you’re not leaving until the thirtieth,” Sirius continued to explain. “The message has definitely reached them.”
“However, this is You-Know-Who we’re dealing with, so we can’t just rely on him getting the date wrong; he’s bound to have a couple of Death Eaters patrolling the skies in this general area, just in case,” said Moody, his magical eyes spinning rapidly, as if trying to spot any hidden Death Eaters lurking around the house .
“Moody’s right, so we’ve given a dozen different houses every protection we can throw at them. They all look like they could be the place we’re going to hide you, they’ve all got some connection with the Order: Moody’s house, the Black family’s old house, Molly’s Auntie Muriel’s — you get the idea,” said Sirius. “You’ll be going to Tonks’s parents. Once you’re within the boundaries of the protective enchantments we’ve put on their house, you’ll be able to use a Portkey to the Burrow. There’s the most thorough protection there, and the Dark Lord won’t be able to break in until he actually takes over the Ministry. Then, we can start the next phase of the plan.”
“Wait, Sirius!” said Harry. There was something he didn’t quite understand. “Maybe they won’t know which of the twelve secure houses I’m heading for at first, but won’t it be sort of obvious once fourteen of us fly off toward Tonks’s parents’?”
“Don’t worry, we’ve got it all planned!” said Sirius. “It was Moody’s idea. Fourteen of us won’t be flying to Tonks’s parents’. There will be seven Harry Potters moving through the skies tonight, each of them with a companion, each pair heading for a different safe house.”
From inside his cloak Moody now withdrew a flask of what looked like mud. There was no need for him to say another word; Harry understood the rest of the plan immediately.
“No!” he said loudly, his voice ringing through the kitchen. “No way!”
“See, I told you he’d take it like this,” said Hermione with a hint of complacency.
Hermione had already said that Harry wouldn’t agree to it, after she and Evan had listened to Sirius’s plan for tonight.
“If you think I’m going to let six people risk their lives — !”
“We’re all willing to do it, and if the plan works, there won’t be much danger,” said Evan, trying to reassure him. “If it doesn’t work and is discovered, You-Know-Who can only track one person, and we can guarantee it’s not you. Believe me, Harry, he won’t be interested in the guy who pretends to be you, and then we can all be safely transferred.”
Evan spoke lightly, but he knew the Order’s plan wouldn’t go perfectly. Not with Snape in the picture.
Earlier, he had already warned Mad-Eye, Sirius, Hermione, and the others to be ready for a fight.
As for Voldemort, Evan had arranged to team up with Sirius, and the two of them would deal with him.
