- H.P.S.T Chapter 1669: The Resurrected Ancient Town
Evan, transformed into a raven, circled around the great tree, the gem on Ravenclaw’s Diadem shining ever brighter. The diadem’s power overcame the evil lurking in the darkness, and it began to reshape the scene around him. Evan blinked; now, everything he saw, except for the tree, even space itself, was bathed in a blue light.
Blue light and shadow converged and intertwined, carrying strange magic, blurring the boundary between reality and illusion.
Soon, blue became the only color in Evan’s eyes.
Drawn by the magic, his body moved naturally, gradually detaching from reality and entering a world of illusion. Countless blue points of light gathered and flowed into the great tree before him, merging into the raven corpses hanging there.
Infused with the blue glow, the withered trunk began to grow anew.
It was a yew!
Evan recognized it immediately. This type of tree was usually considered to possess special magical properties, used to make wands or precious potion ingredients, but he had never seen such a thick yew tree before.
Before it withered, this tree was at least several thousand years old. Its leaves, shimmering with light and shadow, grew rapidly, becoming increasingly lush.
Time was flowing backward!
Then, one of the dead ravens came back to life.
It flapped its wings and flew behind Evan, followed by another raven.
More and more ravens revived; the magic of Ravenclaw’ Diadem was granting these long-dead bodies new life. They seemed like illusions, yet also disturbingly real. In just a few minutes, hundreds of ravens had joined the ranks gathering behind Evan, the scene nothing short of spectacular.
A strange hymn began to echo, and rings of blue light rippled outward, transforming everything around.
Ahead, the ancient ruins vanished, replaced by rows of exquisite houses.
Evan looked into the distance, toward the ruins of the Ravenclaw family mansion, now a breathtaking castle.
How beautiful!
Evan was stunned; he had never seen such architecture before, as if it had stepped straight out of a fairy tale.
In the center was a square main castle, flanked by six evenly spaced, massive conical corner towers.
As Evan flew higher, he could see the six massive towers and the central fortress forming the pattern of a complex hexagram — a colossal magic circle. Though the illusion woven from blue light held no actual magical power, Evan could easily imagine how powerful the magic bound within such a hexagram must have once been.
The blue light and shadow continued to converge, and at the center of the keep, at the point where the hexagram’s lines converged into a circle, a main tower was rapidly forming. It continuously condensed upwards, soon reaching the clouds.
Countless blue streaks of light streamed toward it, and a few seconds later, the main tower finally took shape.
Atop the golden dome of the main tower stood a magnificent statue, a statue of a goddess.
Evan initially thought the figure might be Lady Rowena Ravenclaw, but quickly realized it wasn’t, because the weapon in the statue’s hand wasn’t a wand, but a longsword. She held the sword pointed straight to the sky, as if to cleave heaven and earth.
This statue was a goddess of war!
Evan examined the statue; it was… the goddess of war, Morrigan!
In ancient legends, the Ravenclaw family were descendants of ravens — avatars of the goddess of war, Morrigan.
Their family’s bloodline magic, that absolute wisdom, was what Lady Rowena Ravenclaw called the blessing of the goddess of war.
For Morrígan’s statue to stand at the summit of the Ravenclaw family’s castle carried an especially profound meaning.
The statue of Morrigan, the goddess of war, was the final piece to take shape in the reconstruction of the Ravenclaw castle. Once everything was complete, the remaining blue light drifted farther north toward the lake. Like streams flowing into a basin, they pooled together to form an immense mirror-like lake that connected seamlessly with the castle.
This was the Lost Land of Death as it once had been, so breathtaking that Evan was at a loss for words to describe the beauty before his eyes.
It was magnificent, awe-inspiring, like stepping into a fairyland.
Evan gazed at the Ravenclaw castle and the vast, seemingly endless lake, completely absorbed in the beauty.
Gradually, he flew lower and lower.
The raven he had transformed into landed on the ground, and Evan reverted to his human form.
At the foot of a tree stood an exquisite carriage, its door open as though waiting specifically for him.
In front of the carriage were eight winged horses, standing in orderly rows, adorned with exquisite harnesses. Unlike the tall, clumsy rune horses of Beauxbatons School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, these winged horses were of a purer breed and appeared more beautiful.
Even a thousand years ago, when winged horses had not yet gone extinct, crafting such a carriage would have been incredibly difficult.
This carriage was waiting for Evan, seemingly to take him to a grand banquet.
Evan boarded the carriage. The interior continued the opulent style of Ravenclaw’s castle, adorned with the family crest — not the blue-and-eagle emblem seen at Hogwarts, but a raven wearing a crown.
A thousand years ago, this was the true symbol of Ravenclaw.
However, after Lady Rowena Ravenclaw’s era, the emblem shifted to the blue eagle — less mysterious and shadowed, but embodying more courage and light.
Compared to the raven, the eagle, in its symbolism, was closer to mortals.
Evan ran his right hand gently over the raven carving above the carriage door, lost in thought. In ancient legends, ravens were believed to be the most intelligent of creatures, yet also symbols of cunning, sorrow, and death.
These creatures had once been common heraldry among medieval Muggle nobility, but among wizards, no family besides Ravenclaw had ever dared adopt such a crest. Partly because the Ravenclaw name was simply too famous — and partly because wizards believed ravens possessed a strange, ill-omened magic.
Without sufficient strength and courage, no Wizarding family would dare use a raven as their emblem.
They feared that magic, feared its backlash.
In a sense, wizards were quite superstitious.
The carriage began to move, rolling slowly forward into the town. The moment its wheels crossed the boundary, the entire settlement seemed to spring back to life. Echoes of the past resurfaced — phantoms repeating the motions of their former lives. Bustling scenes filled the streets before Evan’s eyes.
A knight materialized out of thin air, riding up to the front of the carriage. He saluted Evan, and took up position as an escort. The knight wore ornate armor, inlaid with magical runes and the Ravenclaw family crest, indicating that he belonged to the Ravenclaw family.
Things were getting more and more interesting!
Evan settled into a comfortable position, watching with great curiosity as the ancient town outside the carriage window came suddenly alive once more…
