Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 10 (Part 2):
When Helmut and Elaga were just about to leave the territory.
– What, what is this?
Helmut, who hadn’t detected anything, opened his eyes wide. The heavy magic that pressed down on the air pressured his lungs. Yet there was no sound. It was creepy.
Elaga, who had stopped moving, placed Helmut behind her with a firm expression.
-Naho.
-Oh, it’s Elaga. What are you doing in my territory?
Ssssss. The sound of sweeping and moving on the ground sent shivers. The chilly aura slowly approaches.
Helmut looked carefully beyond Elaga. The sight of a huge body covered in a strange ash-colored fog. The magic took shape. The yellow eyes flashed like sulfur fire. Those eyes, there were two pairs of them.
Two pairs of eyes were floating in the air like a nightmare.
-…Weren’t you sleeping?
-How can I sleep comfortably when your smell is wafting all over my territory? Isn’t that right? Your body gives off a strong heat, and the smell is quite… noticeable even from a distance.
The hissing voices overlapped. As the distance closed, the mist became fainter, and finally, Helmut witnessed the horrifying two snake heads.
His legs were shaking involuntarily.
It was a wicked and terrifying sight that would make any human faint with fear just by encountering it.
The body mixed with ash and black was endlessly long. Indeed, a monster worthy of being called the ruler of the east.
The two pairs of eyes discovered Helmut and narrowed.
-Let’s see, are you planning to steal a human from my village? How dare you steal from my territory?
The hissing sound sped up. Elaga bared her teeth. As the rumbling filled with magic echoed, Helmut gasped for breath. His heart was suppressed.
Elaga, just like Naho, was a monster among monsters. The magical energy was so intense that it felt suffocating.
-Who’s talking about stealing? This kid wasn’t brought from your farm, was he?
– Then who could he be? He’s a human child.
– Ah, I’ve heard about this. The human kid you’ve been raising, right?
-You raise them to increase the number, and then you eat them?
-That’s not a wise thought. It’s best to eat males when they’re young.
-How about..Give me a bite from him.
The two snake heads chattered alternately, flicking their tongues. It was creepy to see them trying to smell Helmut’s scent in the air.
Normally, Elaga, who had shown overt aggression when meeting Naho, was different now. Elaga spoke solemnly.
– I refuse. Anyway, you prefer human females. It won’t suit your taste.
– Yeah, and just today, I came to eat a human female.
– Erugo prepared it for me.
‘Was that human woman the offering for today? That must be why Naho is here.’
Even if he moved away now, it seemed too late.
-But young children have soft bones and are delicious. With just the right amount of muscle, yes, it feels like eating cartilage.
-But… this child.
-I smell something I don’t like.
Naho, smirking, forcefully pushed the two snake heads forward. The approaching heads revealed white fangs. The dripping venom sizzled as it touched the ground.
– Kraaaaah!
A furious roar tore through the air. The shockwave shook the forest, and leaves rained down as if whipped by a strong wind.
It felt like something was about to burst. Helmut crouched down. It was an explosive situation where a fight could break out at any moment. Entangled in whatever the outcome, Helmut wouldn’t come out unscathed.
– Put that disgusting head away! Are you trying to fight?
Surprisingly, Elaga was exposing her fangs to Naho. Disregarding Helmut’s safety as if she knew nothing about it, she emitted a formidable magical energy. Somehow, it didn’t seem like smoke.
The two heads chatted casually, as if engaged in a conversation.
– Ah, this smell is like that. It’s Darien, the human.
-There’s no way a human can give birth alone, so he’s not Darien’s child… Who is this child?
– What’s the connection with Darien?
Fortunately, there was no such concept as a teacher and a disciple among monsters.
Naho had no interest in human ecology. To him, humans were just worth raising as food.
– What connection? This kid stole clothes from Darien’s house, and that’s why he smells like that. There’s no other connection.
– Clothes? Right, humans make and wear skins.
– It’s a crude imitation of animal fur. How can they wear such a thing?
– Your humans also wear clothes, don’t they?
– So you imitated? You should have cut your fur for him.
Naho laughed, scales gleaming. Like humans, Naho didn’t have anything like animal fur. But his snake skin was far from soft.
Naho’s scales were hard enough to easily deflect flying arrows. Without magic, even Elaga’s claws wouldn’t tear Naho’s scales
