It was past 10 PM, and this was the sign in front of the darkened waffle shop. Sian, seeing this, clutched his head and cried out.

“Oh no, it can’t be! How unlucky. How did this happen!”

“It seems they weren’t prepared for the popularity following their grand opening. Let’s find another place.”

Alea gave up cleanly. However, Sian lingered in front of the sign, seeming to have lingering regrets.

“I’ve been looking forward to this so much today!”

“You could have gone alone and bought something.”

“Then it’s too lonely.”

Surprisingly, Sian was the type who couldn’t eat alone.

Alea seemed indifferent to the bustling atmosphere around the area.

“Whatever. let’s go somewhere else, or go home.”
When Asuka muttered as if annoyed, Sian made a face and hesitated. Of course, he was contemplating one of the places he wanted to go.

“Okay, how about toast! Covered with a sweet and fruity sauce full of eggs, ham, and lots of shredded cabbage….”

“No need to explain, let’s go.”

Alea cut him off. The toast shop they followed Sian to was quite large. There were quite a few people, but it wasn’t packed.

Sian, who quickly recovered, was humming as he sat down at an empty table with four chairs inside.

When Helmut, Asuka, and Alea entered and sat down, the atmosphere inside somehow became significantly quieter. It was a familiar phenomenon.

Sian, who was also receiving half-hearted glances, accepted it with a cheerful remark.

“If there were many people, we would have to pack it up. Thankfully.”

Examining the chairs and tables carefully, Alea murmured.

“The students at the academy are mostly nobles, so it’s natural. They’re all picky. They say they only use good ingredients. If any foreign substance comes out, it’ll be the day the business goes down. There’s even a corner where they share bad restaurants on the bulletin board

“So that’s why the prices are expensive.”

Asuka frowned at the price tag. Among them, Asuka seemed to be the poorest. Next was Sian.

“First, choose from the menu. There are various options, like ham, sausage, cheese, topping addition, etc.”

When Sian suggested, they all looked at the menu simultaneously.

While Alea was engrossed in looking at the menu, Sian subtly started a conversation.

“Actually, even among nobles, it seems rare to find someone as picky as Alea. Were you raised in a mansion?”

“Even a small speck of dust can cause errors in magic experiments. I’m just used to excluding all those variables.”

“That’s just a form of obsessive-compulsive disorder, isn’t it? It sounds persuasive, though.”

“Maybe it’s because you’re rich , I guess.”

Ignoring Alea, Sian turned his attention to Asuka this time.

“Rather than that, Asuka, even if you’re a commoner, you’re not receiving a scholarship, are you? If you can attend the academy, your family’s wealth should support you, right? Why do you always talk about being poor? Just looking at the clothes you’re wearing, you look like a rich boy.”

Even though he seemed to worry about his pockets all the time, Asuka’s clothes were not much different from the other swordsmanship department students. It was slightly smaller in size, but it was made of high-quality, lightweight, and well-ventilated fabric suitable for a swordsman. Even the shoes, the sword, and the scabbard were all high-quality.

It wasn’t strange. Just because he’s a commoner doesn’t mean he has to lag behind the nobles in wealth. Sometimes, commoners work under nobles or accumulate wealth as merchants. In the latter case, if the wealth becomes substantial enough, even nobles can’t casually disrespect them. They might receive honorary titles. It’s not impossible to buy low-ranking or hereditary titles.

Asuka furrowed his brow.

“Why do you think I can’t get a scholarship as if it’s obvious?”

“Are you receiving one, then?”

“…No.”

Sian smirked as if he expected that. Asuka retorted with a snappy remark.

“I was suspended, what scholarship would I get?”

“Well, then I’m right. In fact, among the four of us here, the only person who might not receive a scholarship next semester is you. Pull yourself together.”

Asuka’s expression crumpled.

However, Sian’s words were true. Alea, the top student in the Magic Department, naturally received a scholarship, and Sian, who was in the top three, also qualified. In the Swordsmanship Department, Helmut was a strong candidate for the top student.

So, naturally, Asuka was the only one left.

“Oh, I won’t be suspended this year, and I’ll get a scholarship. Really, how did I end up meeting these guys and being compared to them?”

Asuka grumbled. He was a talented student who stood out at the academy, except for the fact that he was suspended for causing a violent incident.

However, since joining this group, he felt like he had become some kind of inferior student.

“So, you admit you’re a rich boy?”

As Sian, who was prying, Asuka seemed about to say something. But soon he felt the gaze pouring into him and changed his words.

“…If you’ve chosen, order. Alea wants to eat quickly and go home.”

Alea didn’t deny it. More precisely, her eyes seemed to question why they were wasting time like this.

After contemplating, Helmut ordered a with three slices of cheese, bacon, ham, sausage, meat patty, cabbage, and tomatoes.

He indulged a bit because it looked the most plausible on the menu.

Sometimes, when he went to Kudrow mansion, Ethan gave him pocket money, so his pockets were solid.

“What is this? Do they think the stomachs of the swordsmanship department guys are five times bigger than those of other departments? The name of the menu is discriminatory from the start.”

“It’s a trick, not discrimination.”

Asuka grumbled and was about to order the same, but after seeing the price, he ordered one with a meat patty. He chose it because it seemed to offer a high level of satisfaction for the price.

Alea ordered a basic toast with eggs, ham, and vegetables, and Sian ordered the same.

For drinks, all four of them ordered apple juice, which is famous at this toast shop.

Although Asuka said he would just drink water, Sian gave him a pitiful look and bought him some.

They didn’t have to wait long before four toasts were placed in front of each of them.

“The basic is the best.”

Sian, who tasted it, nodded with a satisfied expression.

The freshly baked toast bread, the sweet sauce inside, the savory eggs and ham, and the vegetables were creating a perfect harmony.
