Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 112 (Part 2):
Asuka was the second-ranked student in the swordsmanship department. Moreover, he had avoided the disciplinary punishment for the entire semester. As Asuka’s allowance increased, he seemed to be in a particularly good mood lately.
As guessed, he seemed to be a child of a fairly generous family. Enough to provide support that would not be inferior to the nobles of the academy.
“Okay, buy for Helmut too.”
“That guy has better grades and more money than me, do I have to buy?”
“Because you lost?”
Asuka frowned.
“Oh, right. Both of you, eat until your stomachs burst, really!”
“But you have nothing to buy for Alea.”
Sian’s face was filled with resentment. Asuka firmly agreed.
“I have no intention of buying anything for that brat either.”
And so, the appointment for a drink on the holiday was confirmed.
**
As the swordsmanship class began in the morning, Alan, the instructor, announced the distribution of report cards in envelopes.
The students who received their report cards engaged in lively conversations. Helmut’s practical score was perfect. He thought it was obvious, but everyone seemed surprised.
“Isn’t this amazing?”
“I’ve never seen such a report card before.”
It was difficult to get a perfect score in practical exams, even for those who excelled. Those who scored perfectly seemed to appear only once every few years.
As for Asuka, his attitude score was reduced by a few points. However, he seemed to have received almost perfect scores in the general knowledge section and the swordsmanship written exam.
“Tsk, why was my attitude score deducted?”
Everyone who heard his grumbling looked at Asuka with a look that said, “Do you really not know?” They thought he was quite shameless.
“Everyone, pay attention!”
After a while, Instructor Allan spoke with emphasis.
“There is an announcement today, so listen carefully.”
There was a slight stir. Was he going to talk about that? Everyone looked at Instructor Allan with eyes full of anticipation.
“It seems the word has already spread, but for those who haven’t heard, the second-year swordsmanship department will go on a hunting picnic next week. We’re planning a group trip to the forest near Baden, from Monday to Friday. It’ll be a bit uncomfortable to camp out, but it’ll be a chance to make good memories with your classmates.”
Instructor Alan looked around at the students as he continued.
“Since we have to ride horses, if you have your own horse, ride it, and if not, apply for a rental at the academy.”
Helmut’s horse was at the Kudrow mansion. However, it seemed the academy also had a stable to take care of the students’ horses. Some students would ride out of Baden on holidays.
However, Helmut, being targeted by Black Hawk, refrained from leaving Baden.
He wouldn’t necessarily lose in a fight, but troublesome situations could arise during his time at the academy.
‘That guy must be getting restless in the stable.’
This was a good opportunity.
“I will post the supplies on the bulletin board by tomorrow. For now, those who want to form a team together, write down your names. I will arbitrarily form teams based on that. Keep in mind that it may not be perfectly reflected. If anyone absolutely cannot go, come and talk to me personally. That’s all!”
After Instructor Alan finished, the second-year swordsmanship department students engaged in excited conversation.
“Hey, have you ever camped before?”
“My domain is in the mountains. I’ve done it a few times.”
“Really? I grew up in the capital, so I’ve never done it.”
“Didn’t you camp on the way to Baden?”
“They said it was unsafe, so we always stopped by villages.”
“What? You’re totally a noble.”
“How did you get into the swordsmanship department? You should have gone to the academic department.”
“People from the capital don’t usually have a chance to do things like camping. I’m the same.”
“Look at these guys. They’ve been raised too delicately.”
Students from sword families scoffed. Nobles from sword families were accustomed to all sorts of training, so camping was nothing new to them.
However, not all students in the swordsmanship department came from sword families.
There were cases where someone with a talent for swordsmanship was born into a family far removed from sword traditions.
Several students who had never experienced camping or hunting showed curiosity.
“What’s camping like? Is it fun?”
“Nothing special. If you’re unlucky, you might step on someone’s poop when going to pee?”
“That’s why you have to dig a hole before you do your business and bury it afterwards. It’s very important.”
“People tend to think alike and dig in similar spots, so even if you’re desperate, make sure you’re not digging where someone else has already gone.”
“Right, a bad dig can be disastrous. It’s filthy and can make you vomit. And the smell is terrible.”
“With many people, you might as well consider it a poop field. You have to go quite far.”
“That’s why you should use a shovel, not your hands. There’s a special shovel for camping for that purpose. Make sure to bring one.”
“And when it gets dark, try not to come out of your sleeping bag. You’ll get bitten by mosquitoes.”
“If you expose your face while sleeping, it’ll swell up so much, you might not be recognized.”
The faces of those who had never experienced camping gradually distorted as they listened.
“What, are you guys really serious?”
“Of course, it’s true.”
“We’re kindly telling you because you guys seem to not know well.”
Some were overly enthusiastic, exaggerating as they chatted away.
