Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 119 (Part 2):
Wesley hinted slyly, pulling out a sizable bottle from his belongings.
It was clearly not ordinary soda. The label was embossed with lead.
“That’s Hennessy’s liquor, isn’t it?”
“Wesley, did you bring alcohol?”
“But that’s not just one bottle, right? Eh.”
“You guys are greedy. I barely managed to bring one bottle.”
Wesley clicked his tongue.
“Since it’s a strong liquor, just sip it for the mood. If anyone can’t handle their alcohol, dilute it with water! It’ll feel like your throat’s burning.”
“How’d you sneak it in?”
“There’s always a way. But wait, I guarantee Patricia will make a surprise inspection around now.”
Wesley was right. Soon after, Patricia burst onto the scene, sniffing around for any scent of alcohol.
“All clear. Good.”
Judging by the outcry from another group, someone had been caught and had their liquor confiscated. Patricia also had a bottle in her hand, likely seized from someone.
After she left, Wesley brought out the liquor bottle again, cautiously looking around.
“Are all the professors gone?”
“They’re probably going to eat. Quick, drink up and hide it.”
“You’re pretty slick. How did you hide it?”
“Method? What’s so hard about it. It gets found because it’s hidden in the luggage.”
“Where did you hide yours?”
Wesley flaunted his cloak.
“I hid it in my cloak. This cloak has a space expansion spell on the inside pocket, so I could sneak it in. I was worried Dwayne might cast a detection spell, but fortunately, he didn’t.”
Helmut was intrigued. A cloak with a space expansion spell was a new concept to him.
Thinking back, Alea didn’t carry much luggage during their travels. He had assumed it was stored in the carriage, but even when they parted ways, she hadn’t been holding anything. Was that why?
“Really? That’s unique. They usually don’t make such items because if the clothing tears, the spell might be damaged. Only magicians who can repair it themselves wear such things, right?”
“Right. This is a new product. It’s durable, so it won’t tear easily. I paid a pretty penny for it. Even if the magic is damaged, it’s easily repairable by a mage.”
Wesley smiled proudly, patting his clothing.
“You can probably find it in Baden if you look hard enough.”
“How much is it?”
Helmut, now interested, casually inquired. Unlike the miscellaneous items Asuka had bought for their hunting picnic, this seemed useful.
He didn’t immediately need it, but if short on funds, he considered asking Ethan to purchase it for him.
Wesley posed a condition.
“I can tell you, but you have to answer one question for me.”
“If I can answer it.”
“Helmut, are you from the city? Where did you learn the sword?”
A common question. Helmut answered nonchalantly.
“No, I grew up in the forest. I learned the sword from my master.”
“In the forest? Was there a village? Your master lived there?”
“No, it wasn’t a village. There was only one house. I was raised by my master.”
Saying he was raised wasn’t quite accurate. The saying goes, the more you tread on grass, the better it grows.
Darien had trod on Helmut vigorously. Just enough not to kill him. So, he grew up strong.
As a result, Helmut became monstrously powerful. There was no one in this campsite of Greta Academy who could stop him. Even if they managed to momentarily restrain him, annihilation was inevitable.
Yet, his monstrosity lay dormant within him, quiet. He was neither a slayer nor a monster.
Helmut simply wished to be a person who could blend into this human world.
